It's a fan roster. It goes without saying these won't be an official roster at any time. Either it's something they want to see happen, or something they think is likely to happen. A roster with over 100 characters is obviously just a "I want to see this happen".

This thread isn't for "legit" rosters, since, well, we aren't making an official Smash game. XD Justttttt saying.

It was an obvious joke on how F-Zero never gets taken serious for a second representation.
It's perhaps one of my all time favourite video game franchises. So, I think it's fun to joke about, lol.

And of course. It's very hard to see anything over a limit of 100 as too serious, and just more of a dream or wishlist. It's just easier for others to grasp opinions, start discussions if the roster is more realistic in term of size, the content itself should not matter too much. I mean, I'm all for discussing why Diskun, Pigma or that Doctor from Animal Crossing should be in the game or not. All I wish for this thread is see why people want them, or why they are ideal. Starting an engaging conversation for once. I miss those days.

I'd talk more seriously about Smash but, like, I don't even play it anymore. I'm just here because I have people to talk to that I know, and Smashboards in comparison to other forums I've been to is actually a really nice place. Except when a new Smash game gets announced. That's when the cringy defenders appear and all hell breaks loose. You just learn to tolerate them. Or make fun of them. :)

That doesn't mean I don't try to contribute in some way though. Recently, I made a Dragonborn support thread.

...which like my Quote support thread kind of... You know... Died...

...tasteless ********-- THE POINT IS, I don't talk seriously about Smash cause I don't really care so much about it nowadays.

My roster is mostly wishful thinking but I don't think anything is TOO absurd. This also exists in a perfect world with no conflict between companies and directors.
Overall, I expect maybe half of my newcomers to actually get in and the other half to be either characters that don't exist yet or characters whose chances I doubted.

The 3 previously cut characters I put as returning are Ice Climbers, Wolf, and Snake. Ice Climbers are just a fun and unique pair who belong in Smash Bros and it's clear the only reason they weren't in Smash 4 is because of the 3ds. The only thing going against Wolf is that he would be a second clone, which isn't unheard of and shouldn't even be that hard to develop. He is different enough from Fox and Falco to make him unique so I don't see why he'd miss out again. Snake is clearly the most unlikely one, but this is a dream roster. Snake is a fun character just because of how much he doesn't fit in. It's an understandable loss, but he would make the next Smash feel more complete.

Across the series, the only characters I don't have on my list are Pichu, Young Link, Squirtle, and Ivysaur.
Young Link is basically made obsolete by Toon Link, and adding him would just be redundant in my opinion. The Pokemon are trickier to defend. My main problem is that Pokemon is huge, there are over 800 of them. With a massive library like that, and a limited amount of character slots, I think diversity should take priority. Yes, Pichu shouldn't be hard to implement since he's a clone, but reworking a character from a GameCube game seems unnecessary to me. I feel bad for Squirtle and Ivysaur, because they have their own unique movesets and have their own fans, but I don't want most of the Pokemon to be from Gen 1, not to mention all of them being starters. I'm not opposed to Squirtle and Ivysaur returning, but given the choice of Pokemon from other regions or them, I'll choose the other regions. As big as Pokemon is, I can't see them taking up, say, 10 slots, at least not at Smash's current level.

Normally, I am very generous about veterans. Each character has a unique feel and attracts a different audience. Clones pad out the roster and offer an alternate play-style for those who want it. Cutting anyone, even a clone, gets rid of a piece of content many enjoyed, no matter how small the audience was. And more characters just means more options, and a bigger cast, so cutting is usually kept to a minimum. Smash 4 was great in this respect, with the only cut character that didn't have an explanation being Wolf. With the huge roster there is now, it is unlikely every character will return, but we can be hopeful. Smash 4 shows that Sakurai tries his hardest to keep cutting to a minimum, even if characters have to return as DLC. The only characters we should be concerned for are third parties and some of the clones. I know I sound hypocritical saying all that after saying I don't want Young Link and Pichu, but if there are only 4 characters across Smash's history that I see fit to stay cut, that's an impressive feat.

Interchangeable

K.K. Slider (Animal Crossing)
With Animal Crossing's rich cast of characters, I feel like it could benefit from a second character to represent the non-player side of things. I have two main ideas for this representative. The first would be a recognizable character such as Isabelle or Nook, who would act as a Trojan Horse to add several other characters into the game through skins, much like Bowser Jr. Since Animal Crossing has so many lovable characters, having a basic template moveset that could easily be replicated by the other characters would be a way to add some fan favorites to the game without using too many slots. My other idea is K.K. Slider, for those who prefer a single, more dedicated character. His moveset would revolve around him using his guitar, so the Trojan Horse idea wouldn't apply here unless they chose not to use his unique traits. I just think it's funny imagining K.K. slider jumping off stage and whacking everyone with his guitar.

Rhythm Wrestler (Rhythm Heaven)
I think we can agree it's about time Rhythm Heaven got more representation in Smash, whether it be a stage, or much more preferably through a character. Honestly it can be any character. It can be the Chorus Men, Karate Man, Rhythm Wrestler, whatever character people associate with Rhythm Heaven the most. The tricky thing is that most characters are only around for a minigame and their second iterations, so there's not really a character that stands out above the rest aside from fan favorites and Karate Man, who in my opinion is too basic. I'd rather a zany character, and it's imperative that their moveset is not just a basic fighter, but a celebration of Rhythm Heaven with references in all of their moves, much like Mega Man, although Mega Man's character makes that more easily feasible. And bonus points if they make it so timing attacks to a rhythm increases damages.

Ray MK (Custom Robo)
The thing about Custom Robo is that there are a multitude of robots, and Ray himself has several different incarnations. He is the obvious choice for a Custom Robo representative, but I have no strong feeling toward any particular model as long as he gets in. Even an original, rebooted Ray just for Smash could be great to see. Sadly, the only things going for Ray is that he had a trophy in Melee and upgraded to an assist trophy in Brawl, showing that Sakurai acknowledges his existence, at the very least. His series hasn't had a new game in a decade and he's part of one of the more obscure Nintendo franchises. But I think Ray is a character in a special place. Smash doesn't necessarily need him, but his franchise needs Smash. Smash is great for introducing players to characters they've never heard of, and throwing us curve balls by adding the most random of characters. It is also notable for making Fire Emblem and Xenoblade more mainstream in the west. While Custom Robo is not the most popular series, having a character in Smash Bros could potentially revive the series and encourage more players to try out the games. He wouldn't just be a throwaway character though, he would fit into Smash great. His series revolves around fighting, after all. The robots have an assortment of weapons and models that writes itself when designing a fighter for Smash. The emphasis on customizing could also work well if Smash 5 brings back the custom moves feature. Most importantly, Ray would be unique. He definitely stands out when grouped with the rest of the characters, but doesn't look out of place. He looks really cool, and who doesn't love robots?

Shovel Knight
One of my more confident speculations, just because Nintendo has been embracing indies lately and I think one character to represent the whole scene could be cool. This could be Shantae, Commander Video, Yooka Laylee. Alright mostly just Shantae or Shovel Knight. Anyone would be cool. Personally, I haven't played a Shantae game, so I'm more inclined to believe in Shovel Knight given his moveset potential and love from Nintendo, even going as far as to release several amiibo for the series. I do believe any indie character is likely to make an appearance, and I'm sure a few of them left an impression on the Smash Ballot. Maybe not a character that will be there from the start, but I can definitely see them already considering an indie character.

First Party

Paper Mario
Although seeming to just be a basic alternate Mario, Paper Mario is anything but. 3 Marios might look weird, but let's face it, it's Mario. If anyone can have 3 characters, it's him. He's been in so many different games of different genres, so a character that explores another side of Mario could be a great opportunity to make our favorite plumber feel fresh. RPG Mario is basically a whole different character, with his signature hammer always making an appearance. A hammer easily changes up Mario's style, and opens up new possibilities for Smash attacks and potentially specials. Paper Mario stands out from the other RPGs because of, well, his paper look. This easily distinguishes him from regular Mario and puts you into a different mindset of what to expect from him. When you see regular Mario, you think of platforming and power-ups, but when you see Paper Mario, you think of the storytelling and his iconic hammer, at least for me. One of the best features of Paper Mario is his array of partners that can be used in different situations. Sadly, Paper Mario hasn't utilized the partner system in some time, so it's unclear if they would make a return if he was to get into Smash. It would really strengthen his uniqueness if he did, though. Throwing Bombella or Bobbery at enemies, sending out Koops or Kooper in their shell, recovering with Parakarry; these are cool possibilities that would make Paper Mario feel like his self. And lastly, it would simply look aesthetically pleasing to see another 2D character, and have him be Paper Mario himself. Instead of thinking of him as just another Mario, consider him as an exploration of Mario's history that the original Mario can't fully capture in a single fighter.

Dixie Kong (Donkey Kong)
Honestly, I'm surprised Dixie Kong isn't in yet. Melee and Brawl added those secondary Nintendo characters that weren't mascots but were easily recognizable within their franchises. Maybe it's just because Dixie Kong doesn't offer much to be unique, and missed her chance in Brawl when adding her would have fit. While not the most unique fighter, she is an important Nintendo character, and feel like she should definitely be added at some point to make the roster feel more complete.

King K. Rool (Donkey Kong)
K. Rool's huge fanbase speaks for itself. While not the most relevant character, King K. Rool adds diversity by being heavy, a villain, and being part of a franchise that doesn't have a character like him in Smash. There is no way his following didn't leave an impression on the Smash Ballot. Leaving him out after that would just be kruel...

Decidueye (Pokemon)
It makes sense to complete the trilogy and having a final evolution grass type starter. This doesn't just feel like an obligatory slot though, Decidueye looks really cool. Our best bet previously was Sceptile, who just felt like an obligatory choice because no one else fit the role better. Decidueye's archer gimmick can differentiate him from the other starters by making him a zoner. He would be a great Alolan representative, and while Incineroar might technically fit better, I think uniqueness overshadows a stereotypical fighter character when it comes between one of the two. The only thing that could hurt Decidueye's chances is the timing of Smash 5's release. Pokemon Switch is apparently planned for 2018, so at that point they might just pull a Greninja on us and be developing a fighter based on a Pokemon we don't even know exists yet.

Krystal (Star Fox)
Honestly, just having a Star Fox character that doesn't play like Fox would be cool. While a controversial character, Krystal does offer unique components that separates her from the others. Her staff could be used for an interesting weapon, and she scores points for offering diversity by being a female. The only alternative I would like is if they added Slippy and made him a sort of joke character, but I'm sure Krystal has stronger support that would make her a bigger priority if they were to add another Star Fox character, which could go either way.

Ridley (Metroid)
I'll give Ridley fans credit, they are persistent. They are one of the most passionate character fanbases I've seen, and I feel bad for them when they are ridiculed for wanting a character. I really don't care how stupid it would look, I'm sure it could work somehow sometime. I just want a fun character. Besides, is there any other Metroid character that's left a big enough impression on the series to outclass Ridley as a newcomer? Although adding a different Metroid character wouldn't be as much of slap to the face as Slippy to Krystal (since one has a much higher demand than the other) because we've been demonstrated why Ridley couldn't work. I still think if implemented well, he would be an awesome addition to the roster, and our expectations of him are low enough that I think a trailer revealing him would get a lot of hype. Not the most likely, but I can be hopeful.

Spring Man (Arms)
I don't know about you guys, but I thought about this guy in Smash the first time I saw him. I'm guilty of thinking "whoa new series, is that character gonna be in Smash?" a lot, but Spring Man feels like a strong addition. Maybe it's too early to tell for sure, but the whole stretchy arms thing would make for an awesome, unique fighter. It would also be the first Nintendo character since Little Mac to be straight from a fighting game, I believe, making him an experienced fighter. Also, it can be any Arms character, I just said Spring man because he seems like the most prominent character to me, and I'm sure there will be another character part of the alternate costumes for diversity.

Rex (Xenoblade)
Originally I had him as an alternate costume for Shulk, but the more I thought about it, the more wrong it felt. Rex seems different enough from Shulk with his whole thing with Pyra, although I'm not experienced enough to know how it'd work. Shulk is also one of the most unique characters in Smash, so undermining Rex by simply adding him as a costume instead of letting him shine and represent Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on his own would feel weird. This slot doesn't have to be taken by Rex, but I feel like Xenoblade will get another representative in some form, with Rex being the most obvious answer.

Inkling (Splatoon)
Duh

Isaac (Golden Sun)
Isaac is purely a cool looking character to me. His game is fun, he looks cool, he's part of a series that doesn't have a fighter yet. I wouldn't say he is top priority, but I know his inclusion would make a lot of fans happy. I'm not quite sure how he would differentiate from other swordfighters, probably utilizing multiple djinn, but I'm positive if he is added he will be designed to fight uniquely.

Andy (Advance Wars)
Simply put, Advance Wars is a great series that could get a boost in attention if they got a character in Smash. I think Andy could have a unique fighting style if they utilized his multitude of different units, but I don't know how it would be incorporated. Possibly a unit for each special while he uses a wrench for his primary attacks. Overall, just a fun character to add recognition to another Nintendo series that has been dormant.

Takamaru (The Mysterious Murasame Castle)
Takamaru would be the retro rep. I think he could provide a unique swordfighting style similar to samurais. I'm not experienced with the game, so I'm not strongly connected to the character, but I think he could be cool, just not as iconic as someone like Duck Hunt was. He feels like the most obvious choice, so I feel decent about his chances, unless they try to pull a wild card and implement a functioning Excitebike or Balloon Fighter character. His support thread is a lot better about explaining his potential than I am.

Third Party

Bomberman
After Capcom and Sega got their second third party character, I think Konami is deserving of another too. While many would argue for Simon Belmont, I think Bomberman overall fits into Smash Bros better and looks and feels like a Nintendo-y character. His various bombs could make for interesting fighting techniques and the recent release of Super Bomberman R makes him a relevant character. The only potential problem is that Bomberman isn't as much of a gaming legend as the other third party characters have been. This could work in his favor, though, because after using up all the big names, smaller but notable characters should now be able to have their time to shine.

Rayman
I think Rayman could be a great fighter and the obvious Ubisoft rep, unless they go with rabbids...Very much like Bomberman, I don't think he is quite as iconic as the current third party characters, but we've gotten to the point where not everybody as to be an all-star, and Smash has shown us time and time again that they can still surprise us. If I had a choice between the two, I'd go with Bomberman, with Rayman either being DLC or coming in a later title, but I still like the idea of Rayman and he is part of a company we haven't seen represented in Smash yet.

Banjo and Kazooie
While not the most likely, I feel like this is one of the last old-school Nintendo characters that would make the game feel complete. It's like missing an important part of their history skipping them, even though we all understand why. As doubtful as I am, we got Cloud somehow, so I think there's some chance they could pull off an agreement with Microsoft and make for an insane reveal nobody saw coming. I know Microsoft is a whole different company to negotiate with compared to the previous ones, but I'm mostly speaking from the standpoint of how fun the character would be, and how much they would fit into the game, and not if it is logically feasible.

Alternate costumes are a way of adding a character into Smash without having to design a whole character around them. It's even less time-involvement than adding a clone. While some don't like the idea of their favorite character being omitted just to be a skin, I think this isn't a bad idea as long as its for a character I can't myself see moveset potential for, or if it's a character I simply think doesn't deserve to have a slot on the CSS. I know I said the more characters the better and the more variety when discussing clones, but these are mainly for making sure a series doesn't get too many reps at once or someone who couldn't get in otherwise can sneak in through this method. I was originally opposed to Dark Pit and Lucina, but since they put in the time to make them into characters already, I think going back and demoting them to skins would just be disrespectful.

Koopalings (Bowser Jr.)
The Koopalings were an ingenious addition to Smash 4. While iconic villains, we couldn't imagine one getting in without the rest, but 7 slots would just be too many. Simply making them all skins with a normal character would probably look weird because of their differing proportions, but Bowser Jr's clown can, which isn't a stretch because we've seen him use it prominently in recent games, was a brilliant way of both using a unique tool in the battlefield, and being able to disguise the proportions of the Koopalings (not super well) so they could all work as a character. I think this is the best possibility for the Koopalings, and it should stay as is. If anything, I would probably just tweak how the proportions look in the winning animations. A small thing to change, but it is the only time the bodies stand out as weird to me.

Alph / Louie (Olimar)
I think it's a little weird Alph of all people was the one character to be added as an alternate skin, but I wasn't opposed to it. If anything, I think this should be expanded upon and Louie could make an appearance. Some point out that rock pikmin could be implemented and Alph could be his own character that uses Pikmin in a different way. That would be cool if it ended up working, but with Pikmin 4 coming out soon and a potential new character being a lead, I think it's safer to say Alph will stay as he is for now.

Ribbon Girl (Spring Man)
This is a no-brainer. She would serve as the female alternative to Spring Man on the roster, maybe even being the primary character and making him the alternate costume. Other Arms characters would be cool as well, but I think Spring Man and Ribbon GIrl are the only two that resemble each other enough to work well without looking forced.

Daisy (Peach)
Personally, I just don't see Daisy working as a character. She just doesn't offer much to make her stand out from the others. I feel like some other new Mario character will be introduced and get in before she does. Hell, even maybe Captain Toad. I don't think it is too unlikely for her to get in as a costume though, and Peach already has a costume that looks like her. The only negative thing about this would be the backlash from Daisy fans, but frankly I think this is their best chance to play as Daisy at this point.

Shadow (Sonic the Hedgehog) / Proto Man (Mega Man) / Ms. Pac-Man (Pac-Man)
I feel like the big 3 are huge enough to warrant another character from their series, just not as another character slot. Alternate costumes may very well be our best bet at getting Shadow and Proto Man, and Ms. Pac-Man is cool too. I feel like this is an easier solution than giving one third party franchise an additional slot and making the third party rarity less special. The franchises are huge enough that they all have their own array of popular characters, and these few are similar enough to the titular characters that they just might work. And also, if you're going to add one third party alternate costume character, you might as well give equal treatment to the other two big ones. Maybe even Ken for Ryu, but I don't think they'll go too wild with the idea.

Veterans: 58 (59-61 for Miis)
Returning Cut Veterans: 3
Newcomers: 19
Final Roster 77 (78-80 With Miis) (94 With Alternate Costume Characters)

Add; Doshin, Chibi-Robo, Waluigi, Samurai Goroh, Geno and Lip, and this would be one of the best personal rosters ever, to me.
^
While that is said, those are the personals that I would like to see in the roster you presented. Otherwise, you're roster is really, REALLY good, and I'd love for that to happen, even if those who I listed where absent, as those where as said only personal ones.

I was actually highly considering Geno and Lip, but I didn't want to make the roster too big and overall wanted it to look a little clean. Also I'd love Samurai Goroh I just don't feel confident about F-Zero anymore.

Same. Right now, everything would seem nice, but when the actual game will get revealed, I will keep up the fun, but as the characters get announced, I will fear, cry, fight, and cry even more as over half of them won't be in the game, but at this point we can just fool around with the ideas and wishes that we all have.

I did like the way you thought. What do you think of mine? It's one page back. You do not have to read all the reasons, but it would be fun to hear some viewpoints from a fellow roster picker.

Well, it's not like I can read your image. You didn't upload it in an easy to read format. It was just way too small. When using Smashboards, you gotta see if you can still read the image itself. Can't discuss what we can't see well, you know? I mean, I recognize many, but it got hard to tell with some of the 3rd parties...

Hence, I asked if you could make it more readable. A full list of your options is nice too, if only for discussion purposes. To note, I was more asking for the image to be uploaded so it could be far bigger, not for you to take forever to make a list. >.< That's way more work than I was asking for. Apologies.

24th of May 2016, and until today. I had to go back, to see what I first did, and to compare my new roster. Unfortunately, I did this after making the roster, so it will be even more exciting (maybe).

(In the preview the photo seem to have an error, but it's visible to me, so I add a link here if you can't see it; https://imgur.com/a/TOute )

First of you can see, this roster is pretty much based upon the same sort of style that 4 had. And the main focus point of this thread is the roster, so that’s what I’m going to talk about too. While I do not wish to make any cuts, I do have to point out that I could envision some of these clones with slots to be just another costume, like Alph, but because of the last game, I’ll let Dark Pit, Lucina and the good ol Doc to be their own for now, with also talking about a few more types like these that would rather get the Olimar/Alph treatment at the very end, when I talk about characters that are not in the core roster, but is worth mentioning (same goes for some of the ideas for “reps” as you see them in the roster)

Newcomers;

Captain Toad – While there is no secret that the Mario franchise is huge, and that the universe keeps expanding, not only by itself but usually also in Super Smash Bros, we got to think of who would really make the roster more unique, who plays a central role in the universe, and who’s still not there already. That’s when Toad came up. Looking at Toad, he is like Yoshi, a simple generic creature of its own kind, and unlike Yoshi, Toad has not had his own ga--… Wait a minute!? There was a Toad who had its own game?! Yes, there is, and that is of course Captain Toad, an explorer centred Toad who solves puzzles and other fun stuff. It gave Toad a bit more than just being its standard generic species, but an ideal identity, and of something Smash thus far lacks. Therefore, I believe Captain Toad to be the ideal candidate of the Mario Universe, but is he alone?

Waluigi – You got that right, and what time to be alive. Now I’m a big fan of Waluigi, ever since his debut in the earlier sports titles, and what better way is there to incorporate a character that could fill the void of all those ridiculous spin-offs that the Mario franchise have had. While also that, think of the line-up of Wario with Waluigi, finally happening in Smash. Even lord Sakurai was not sure if he would label him a Mario character or a Wario character, therefore, he would not only have a chance to represent the Mario spin-off’s, but also Wario? (Come On’, Waluigi is from Waluigi <3)

Dixie Kong – Smash is no stranger to adding two editions, and that I’d like to say straight off the bat. Dixie Kong is a great filler character, being a semi-clone, like Luigi and Falco, only for Diddy Kong, who will now appear in its third Smash. It’s time for Dixie, the pink, hair swirling, banana hunting female primate. She would not take too much time, and now that other series like Kid Icarus and Fire Emblem has been thrown into the oven and baked, it’s time for another series, thus comes Donkey Kong. Come on, you know you want Dixie there. Yes, even you Kutthroat.

King K. Rool – No doubt in hell that Nintendo finally have got a vocally loud, and dedicated fanbase, and I’m not going to even compare it to Ridley, but rather state the fact that THE KING finally got some bloody recognition, and trademark at that too. While we were not fully satisfied for a mii costume, it was a start, and finally we got a glimpse of hope. A hope that our king got a bright future ahead of him, when it comes to the next Smash game, but who am I kidding? We thought so, ever since pre-brawl, did we not? Still, this time, it’s different, and a good different. He deserves to become a playable, and if there are any left in Nintendo’s library, he is one of them.

Tingle – WHAT!? NO IMPA!? Don’t kill me. Here, have a rupee while I draw you this cool map. We cool? We cool, bruh? … Now Tingle does have a fanbase in Japan, and he is an additionally, supporting character to the franchise, and has been for a long time. He also spawned a couple of games over his time. He is small, he is funny and he is annoying as hell, but do you know what? That makes him a great addition that you just love to beat up, win-win, huh? (Also, if you want me to talk a little bit about Impa, scroll further down.)

New Metroid Rep (Franchise Rep) – Now I won’t spoil this discussion yet, as I have 2 candidates that I want to do separately further down on this page. This will be the same for “Fire Emblem”, “Star Fox”, “Pokémon”, “Xenoblade” and “3rd Parties”.

Balloon Fighter – Now, I’ve been wanting this character since brawl, and hoped that he would potentially become more apparent in the Smash universe, and now that our god, former president Satoru Iwata has left us, this is his best-known legacy. Balloon Fighter will not only be that one retro-rep, but also our love for Iwata. Having Balloon Fighter here would also make up for some interesting fighter/playstyle potential. Also, I look at Tingle and Balloon Fighter VERY DIFFERENTLY from one another.

Medusa – So, since we got Pit, Palutena and Dark Pit, I figured out that there should also be a “Dark Palutena”, instead of anything else. Medusa, the first last boss of the Kid Icarus series still had a prominent role in the “Uprising” game, and would be the perfect partner character for Dark Pit, as opposite to Pit and Palutena. Also, Medusa would definitely play very differently from any other fighter presented thus far, or existing.

Isaac – Raise your hand if you were disappointed Isaac did not become a playable character in Smash 4. Now, raise your hand if you thought it was unfair that he was left out as an assist trophy in smash 4, after not becoming playable. Yes, it’s quite unfortunate that we did not get anything Golden Sun related, other than a track if I recall correctly. And while this is quite a wild card pick, I still feel certain that we have come thus far in Smash picking that we have to look into new places for ideas, or reflect on our history… See? Perhaps Smash 5 is the time we take a step back, to look at what we could have done differently, and there I believe Isaac could get his uprising.

Waddle Dee – Waddle, Daddle, Fladdle, Raddle, Bandana Dee, oh my. So were back to the Yoshi, Toad incident we talked about earlier, and all those above are not aliases, except for Waddle and Bandana Dee, I just wish to ramble, since Waddle Dee is so absolutely cute. As said, generic? No, this one pops a cool bandana and wields a deadly spear, like anyone could generically do, still… After Kirby, Metaknight and King Dedede, there is only one who appear quite often as a very memorable member of the group, and that’s the cool bandana wielding Waddle Dee. My whole point is back to that of, he is the 4th remaining missing member. He is the Toad, or the Charizard, the popular, generic, still relevant character of the series. Yes, I do support this charmer.

Samurai Goroh – People always bash on F-Zero being obscure, but hell, no one bat an eye when Kid Icarus, which were more obscure than F-Zero got a playable in brawl, only to spawn a new feature game, and 2 new playable characters for the next game. Now, what did F-Zero get? A bloody falcon punch meme. Goroh however have been present since Melee, first in the introduction (same as Wolf & Ridley), and therefrom an assist trophy, and we know how that can help some people (Little Mac). So if there are any other characters from the F-Zero line-up that really deserves a playable part that, it should be Goroh in my opinion. I also am going to mention another F-Zero character further down, don’t worry too much. (Also, personal vendetta that he is my all-time favourite F-Zero pilot.)

Inkling – Like everyone else have understood, Splatoon was a major salespoint and a commercial success as a new brand in a though market of thousands of game franchises that comes and dies, Nintendo has proven that they still got it. Who did not fall in love with the idea of having Inkling as a new playable for Smash? Heck, Inkling did not even have an official name, it was Squid Kid, but look at it now, everyone calls them the Inklings. And yes, if there are some none brainers out there, I bet my money on a Squid Kid.

Spring Man – Just as pointed out from before, Nintendo certainly know how to create new franchises still, and ARMS is not an exception. However, while you see Spring Man there, I do want to talk about another character that I do favour from the franchise more, but have thought of it as a gender thing, you might already know what I’m talking about, but I’ll do it more official further down. Spring Man on the other hand is the poster boy for the new Switch exclusive ARMS, and the character would indeed be quite different from Little Mac, with perhaps only the body build in common, and that hair though.

Rhythm Troupe – Ok, this one is a little bit different than just a “New rep” type for a franchise, like the others. This is instead a standalone, NEW franchise type of entry that I quickly just want to go over. As I’ve never tried the games personally, I still think they look tons of fun. It’s hard to pick out just one of these wacky creatures, and therefore I place Rhythm Troupe as my character, which basically applies to any Rhythm Heaven representative there is. As I do believe that this franchise is strong enough on its own to spawn a playable in the next Smash game.

Chibi-Robo – Another cute little entry that I want to place out there. I was a huge supporter for Chibi-Robo’s inclusion to Smash 4, even made a fake little thing to compensate for his absence. I think the design of Chibi is really cute, and would be fun to use the character. If Smash Flash 2 have thought me anything, then it is that Chibi-Robo is full of potential, fun to use and belongs in Smash.

Ice Climbers – Why, oh, why are you gone, my loves? It was icebreaking to see them absent from the game, and is there one thing that should be the main priority of the next game, it’s to include our beloved duo of Smash, the Ice Climbers. I can understand that it has been difficult to make the character work properly for the handheld, but this time around Nintendo do not have a handheld to work with (if Switch is the only thing that is). So, the console should be strong enough to power them up.

Takamaru – I do not know much about Takamaru or the Murasame Caste game, but in design aspects, I do like Takamaru. I also respect the history, as it reminds me a lot of Kid Icarus type of opportunity, not only for the character, but the series itself. Having Taku as an assist trophy might have been a smart move on Nintendo’s part, making people realize who he actually is when they present him as playable for the next game, they be like “Oh yeah, that blue haired samurai assist from the previous game, cool.”

Geno – Not gonna lie, I support this inclusion, fully. After playing the build for the Project M I was sold on Geno as a concept. The fact that Sakurai went through all troubles to include the Mii costume just comes to show that there are both claim for the character, as well as interest. While that’s said, people have been joking about Geno & Sakurai for years, but in an interview some time ago, Sakurai admitted that he tried to get Geno into the game, and why not give it one more chance, now that we see how well it went with Cloud Strife?

Bomberman – Ok. You will probably call it a dumb idea, or tell me he is in Konami hell, or how about, FIRST WE GET SNAKE BACK. Well, I’ll take Bomberman over there any day than take back Snake, NOW WHILE THAT’S SAID, I do not mind having Snake back, in fact I would love it, as I think his style is unique and cool, I just favour Bomberman, it’s personal. (Snake will return down below). Bomberman got that’s cutsie look and appeal that I think fits well with the likes of Megaman, Pac-Man, Mario and Sonic. Therefore, I place him high as a want, but it’s all up to Konami to even let this poor Hudson out of his shell.

Crash Bandicoot – I used to think that Crash was not only the face of Sony’s platform, but that he actually WAS PlayStation. Who would have thought that Crash had tons of games on the GameCube, as well as Wii and the Gameboy Advance? Him? The Playstation mascot? Dude, Sony did not even get him to be part of Sony Playstation All-Stars. So, screw that Mandela effect. Crash is just a washed-up mascot who got a firm reboot of his series, with history ties in with Nintendo. I do see this as the best possible time to introduce the character. He was also popular in Japan, unlike other western mascots.

That’s it for the first part. The official roster of mine part. The second part will be explained along the way, but it’s the same basis as the first part.

(Same with this one, so here is a link if it does not show; https://imgur.com/a/5yck3 )

Dark Samus – The first Metroid character that I do believe have a chance. If they go with the vendetta against Ridley, then the second-best way to go up about it is to introduce the dark edition of another loved character, like Dark Pit for Pit. Dark Samus on the other hand is not just a clone, far from it. Dark Samus has a lot of different moves that would set it apart from ordinary Samus. We did get a taste of that when it became an assist trophy in Smash 4.

Ridley – Now this is a character I’d love to see. I do hope that one day we could use Ridley, Goroh and Wolf in the same game, as a tribute to the Melee intro. Also after playing these mods of Brawl, I fell in love with the Ridley mod. It proved to me that this was indeed a character worth hoping for. Size is definitive not an issue, they have toned down Bowser, and other characters, so it should not be a problem, even Smash have sized Ridley down 3 times. (Melee intro, SSE in Brawl and as the Hazard of S4). So, even though I’m not as loud as with others, I do fully support Ridley to take part.

Krystal – She would become a new Star Fox character introduced, as well as the first female character from said series. She has great range of potential ideals to make a move pool out of, and she would definitive be a recognizable fighter (for those who know Star Fox that is), because she does have a quite lively audience. Her biggest issue is the comeback of everyone’s favourite Wolf. Speaking of…

Wolf O’Donell – Wolf has indeed once been part of the roster in the third instalment, and is still being howled after by his glorious fans. Cutting Wolf again? I can’t let you do that Sakurai. Or, I don’t have the power to do anything, but I do believe it’s very likely that there will be another Star Fox character, and if it’s the return of Wolf or introduction of Krystal, that I do not know, but I lean towards the epic return, before the new encounter.

Skull Kid – Honestly, I do not know how likely it is, but I don’t want to meet with a terrible fate, so I’ll cover it. Because, I do really like Skull Kid and the Majora’s Mask as a design. The magic aspect of this character could make him quite interesting. I’m just quite unsure how high of chances he got unlike other characters, but that’s just my thought.

Impa – Alright, here she is. Well… Now that she’s here, I do not know what much to say, to be honest. I do not know too much of Impa, other than she has multiple incarnations. Also, that she was watching over Zelda, and had something to with her transformation into Sheik, as some clan sort of thing, other than that I can’t say too much. I do believe she would make an interesting fighter however as a semi-clone of Sheik or not.

Masked Man – Again I enter a realm of something I do not know much of, and that’s the “Mother/Earthbound” series, but Ness is indeed one of my mains, so a new character from this universe would not hurt, if it’s not a semi-clone. Therefore, Masked Man/Claus, with his jet pack, and sword style could be very unique and interesting to me. If they want a villain for Lucas, or a villain for Ness, that’s the question?

Porky Minch – As said, if Mother 3 would get a localization, then I could see Masked Man be the one, but if they would go for another crazy whacky unique style, then Porky and his machinery could indeed become something very unique. We did have him as a boss in the SSE, so why not do something out of it, as people would at least somewhat know who he is.

Black Shadow – While I did say that Samurai Goroh would be the best fit for a newcomer, I do think that Black Shadow also would be a very interesting choice. People claiming, he would be taking Ganondorf’s old move-set just don’t know Black Shadow. Most things Ganon could do, so could Black Shadow, he got magic, power and brute strength. He would have to become something different from Falcon and Ganon, and that’s where I don’t see the effort coming inn, as it’s F-Zero, unfortunately.

Pious Augustus – Now this is a very obscure choice, and I’ll back it up by the fact that it would show of some of the “horror” sides that Nintendo has built up under the radar. I do think it’s quite far-fetch’d, but I do think it could have been interesting to see how Nintendo would do this.

Deciduye – The new Pokémon starter favourite, which is not bad, as it’s finally the grass starter that is shown some love, and what does the current line-up of Pokémon lack? Exactly, fly and ghost! I mean, grass. While that’s true, it would also be winged, and focus around being an archer type, with ghost effects, so that’s cool. Did I mention that he was popular? AND for its record, it’s a new fighter at Pokken Tournament too.

Meowth – Alright, this is more or less a guilty pleasure choice. Ever since the early days of Smash, I still followed the Pokémon series as crazy, thinking that with Pikachu, Jigglypuff and Mewtwo, there should be a Team Rocket member to even out the odds of the anime, so Meowth was a character that I could see fit. He is still relevant to the plot, but is often brushed off as a simple normal type in the game, so that hurts him quite much, unfortunately.

Pichu – I hated Pichu in Melee, and I don’t think too much of it in the games either, but I still really want this character to return. Why? Nostalgia? Perhaps, but it’s cute, and the glass cannon type of fighter was a great design executed poorly in game, and deserve a revisit. So, if there is any Pokémon I want back, then Pichu is a welcoming addition.

Sceptile – Damn, Sceptile, back again with the grass type. Yes, most people seem to blame their interest in Sceptile on a few things; One, being a grass, and a starter. Second is that around the release of Smash 4, the Hoenn remakes where making their ways and was heavily supported, hence Greninja from X & Y. I do think Sceptile is a great Pokémon to be considered, but personally not my first thought.

Andy & Sami – Alright, I want to do these together, as I do step into a realm that I do not know much about, the “Advance Wars”, and I do know that these two are from the same game. Sami spawns an automatic machine gun, while Andy wields a wrench, right? Well, I do agree that the Advance Wars deserves some love, as I think squeezing inn much obscurity and reviving old IP’s would be a fantastic idea, and this is one of the series I believe could easily make a great comeback to the markets. People do say, and I agree, that Sami could easily take over Snake’s old move-set if Snake himself does not return, and Andy could also easily become his own character.

Prince Fluff – I just had to think of something that could be good for the Kirby series after Waddle Dee, and while there are a lot of others; Adeline, Magolor, Whispy Woods and even Waddle Doo, there is one character that stands out a bit more, and that’s Prince Fluff, as not only would he look like a Kirby clone, but he could represent the “Yarn” series as its own, which makes him a much more tempting addition in my opinion.

Wonder-Red – All I could say about this is that it would represent a brand-new series, and that he looks like he could fit. He always reminded me of Viewtiful Joe. Also, what did happen to this series? It’s not like Splatoon or ARMS who really skyrocketed into popularity. I would not mind it, but I do not really see it happen either.

Doshin – Remember that kid who dreamt of having the Duck Hunt Dog as part of Smash? Well, I’m that kid who wanted Doshin, so dreams can go far beyond… I know it’s very unlikely, but he is a weird guilty pleasure of mine. Size as we stated should not be an issue, as he only grows by love, he is not a giant entirely or at all time. Also, there are tons this yellow goofball could do which would make him stand out. Go Doshin <3

Lip – Second guilty pleasure is the young fairy girl known as Lip, from the Japanese exclusive series “Panel de pon”, which ported overseas as Yoshi’s cookie, or Pokémon Puzzle League (ß One of my favourite games of all time, if I may say so myself). What draws me to this fairy girl is that she is a simple, yet super entertaining design, her weapon, the “Lip’s stick” has been presented ever since Melee, so she is no stranger to Smash by lore. Also, Sakurai considers the series she hails from a masterpiece, and if my love for PPL was not enough, then I couldn’t agree more.

Goose – or any Pilot Wings character for that matter would be another wild card guilty pleasure. I do not know what it is, but I really would like to see something more presentable from this series, and I think that Goose looks rather lanky enough to stand out, and that he looks somewhat memorable from the cast itself.

Ms. Game & Watch – Now this is something I’d love to see get an “Olimar/Alph” treatment. It would make Game & Watch evolve as a character and a series within Smash, and since Mr. G&W has been present since Melee, I would not mind something new about him, or the character slot. So, with all those gender swaps, why not Ms. Game & Watch too?

Princess Daisy – As you could tell, I’ve started the “Olimar/Alph” treatment road at this point, but in Daisies case, before you kill me, I’m quite aware that she could make her own character quite unique, either as a semi-clone or not. I do think that our best shot at this point is having her as an alternate for Peach, which I would love, and that’s the most support I do lend this design at this given game.

Ribbon Girl – I do like Ribbon Girl way more than I like Spring Man for some reason, and I think that if they went down this road, I’d appreciate the ARMS represented much, much more. I think Spring Man looks a bit too stiff and awkward with colours for my taste, but Ribbon Girl feels more balanced in this regard.

Blood Falcon – Of course I’d have to mention Blood Falcon, and yes, I’d love to have Blood Falcon as an alternative for Falcon, and not just a colour palette. I want to see that evil flare within his eyes, feeling like the true Blood Falcon, not see a smiling Cap with Blood’s colours.

Before I go any further, I want to talk quickly about the Fire Emblem and Xenoblade representation. You don’t have to go deep into it to understand that within Smash, Fire Emblem is huge, and as its own franchise it grows. It grows thus far, as most likely a new fighter from one of the new games would take stage. While that is said, please don’t be a swordsman/or woman for that matter, but a Female something which is not sword fighter come forth. And for the Xenoblade, I’ve never tried the series, so Elma, Fiora or any new cool character from the new Xenoblade is welcome to me, I’m not going to be picky, but as a realist, I believe that a new Xenoblade is certain.a

Solid Snake – Here we are. Yes, I’d love to see Snake return. If I can get a bundle from Konami of both Snake & Bomberman, I’m all game. He was a very unique addition in Brawl, a little bit out there, but with Zero Suit, Shulk and Bayonetta present, the more Snake sort of characters makes Snake fit even better at this point, but that’s all I got.

Banjo & Kazooie – Figured I’d rather just talk quickly about Banjo. If RARE was still owned by Nintendo, I do believe that he would have been present since Brawl. While that was not how the story went, the effort of adding this character will be more difficult, but I would not be against it. Head of Xbox said they would be interested with collaborating with Nintendo on the matter, but is it worth it? Or are there others that should be given the priority first?

Rayman – True that Rayman already held a trophy in Smash 4, and people went crazy over the fake leak, that Rayman was coming, hyping up the fans out for more, and cry out their love for supporting this arm-less icon. I don’t mind seeing him in, and I do believe that either with or after Crash Bandicoot, he is the right one to get inn.

Rabbid – If anyone would suggest this character a half year ago, I’d laugh, and be ignoring the **** out of that… Fast forward to the Mario & Rabbid game, and a very interesting discussion by Source Gaming, and what do we have? A total changed opinion of some of the most annoying creatures of video game or digital entertainments history. I would not mind it happening, but it’s not a high wish of mine for it to happen if you catch my drift.

Professor Layton – Now this is a 3rd party guilty pleasure of mine. I do think he looks very entertaining and funny. I also think that there are a lot of things to take inspiration on when creating a move-set for Layton. I also know there are plenty of others who would love to see Layton in their Smash, but will it happen? Likely not.

Shantae – Now, we know we are leaning towards the end when someone is starting to rabble about indie representation within Smash, and it is, it’s the second last addition to the discussion list. Why Shantae? Well, it’s a female, pirate, genie who can whip her hair better than Willow Smith. She has had a lot of support, pushing towards an indie representation, while that it’s not new, it has not happened yet, and others would agree that this last one might be more plausible?

Shovel Knight – This is the last character, and it’s definitively a character that I would support. It’s just something about the character concept that feels so appealing to me while thinking of the Smash Bros universe. He has also been perhaps the most pushed indie character to ever been called out into the Smash void.

Alright, that’s about it. I hope you liked to read about my predictions, wants and whatnot about some characters we might or might not share a common interest inn. Peace out fellow Smashers.
.
Lots of interesting ideas I didn't touch on in my predictions.
  • I think Toad or Waluigi have a decent shot, but not both within one game. I think Captain Toad could be cool and want to see if they can do something with the "can't jump" gimmick or if they'll just drop it. I'm really indifferent about Waluigi.
  • I think a Zelda newcomer is somewhat needed; it's one of Nintendo's biggest series and it hasn't had a non-clone newcomer since Melee. The problem is finding an iconic character that can rightfully stand up next to the current ones. Someone like Sheik who made a big enough impression in one game. I personally don't find Impa that interesting and think a more goofy character could be cool. Originally I didn't like the idea of Tingle, but I think as a random goofy character he could be funny. He'd be one of those characters that make your friends feel salty when you beat them with him just because of how weird he is.
  • Interested why you think Dixie would be a clone. Not that it wouldn't be a smart way of padding out the DK series, but why her when she has defining characteristics such as her hair and guitar that differentiate her from Diddy.
  • Also, why do you think Dixie and King K. Rool can both be in but not 2 new Star Fox reps? Especially when Wolf already exists in the Smash world? Is it because of Star Fox's recent disappointment with Zero? Not trying to criticize here, just curious.
  • Your argument for Balloon Fighter is actually compelling and brings up something I didn't think about, which is Iwata's presence. I somewhat want to rethink my choice of Takamaru, because while he'd be cool, I think Balloon Fighter is more iconic, could be a more unique fighter, and the sentimental value in him. I don't think we'll get both him and Takamaru, though, I feel like they'll keep some retro characters in the back for future Smash games.
  • I think Dark Samus being her own character would be funny because it would continue the tradition of Metroid only being represented by Samus. (I know it's not really her, but the name)
  • I agree Waddle Dee is the most likely Kirby newcomer, he is the most prominent of those not already in Smash.
  • Kid Icarus Uprising introduced lots of great characters. I can see Sakurai having several ideas for fighters and not implementing them all yet because he didn't want to appear biased to his series. I think a new antagonist would be great, either Medusa or Hades. Hades would be great because he's Hades, and Medusa provides female representation.
  • I noticed you seem to have an attachment to F-Zero with several different ideas for characters. If it wasn't for Ganondorf and the fact that they are persistent about keeping him a clone, I think Blood Falcon would be a great way to give F-Zero a little attention without working too much. Maybe a skin for Captain Falcon? Really all it will take is a new F-Zero game, at any point in time, and people will start clamoring for an F-Zero newcomer again.
  • Rabbids would be a slap in the face to Rayman but it would be hilarious if Rabbid Mario, Luigi, Peach, etc (as skins) got in this way.
  • Crash is a character that's always been in the back of my mind as someone I'd like to see but doubt, because he was a huge part of my childhood. Sometimes I have to remind myself, oh yeah, Sony doesn't own him anymore. An Activision rep would be weird, idk, just doesn't seem like the big name companies Smash usually borrows characters for. It would be great though if the character made to rival Mario who fell into another company's hands ended up in a Nintendo game. Mario Vs. Crash is one of those big name fights we've yet to see come out of a video game, so it'd be cool.

All in all, a solid roster. Our thoughts align a lot although you brought up good possibilities for expanding series such as Zelda and Kirby, which I didn't discuss in my own roster. I'm curious what you think about Ray Mk and Paper Mario, two candidates I'm very passionate about, and the possibility of an Animal Crossing newcomer.
Also want to know what everyone thinks of the possibility of alternate costume characters for third party characters. Do you think it's a smart way to add popular characters without using another slot, or would it take away the significance of that one franchise's signature character?

when she has defining characteristics such as her hair and guitar that differentiate her from Diddy.
I die a little inside whenever I see people seriously try to bring up the guitar.

Not only is usage of a guitar not exclusive to her....

(And Diddy actually uses it for an attack; a musical one specifically, not direct combat)

(Cranky says it's all about that bass)

But saying Dixie should use it in her moveset is like saying Diddy should use his boombox in his. It makes no sense whatsoever and gives the impression that the one suggesting it is completely desperate when it comes to moveset ideas. Even worse if they also suggest she blows bubblegum bubbles at opponents.

But that's all I'm going to say on the matter here since this is the roster thread.

Fair enough. I'm not the biggest Dixie fan and was thinking of things on the fly. Imagining Dixie as a clone of Diddy just sounds weird to me.

Honestly, a Wolf-style clone doesn't sound so bad.
It's obvious where the source came from, but it's still distinct enough that people don't really mind.

Alright, I'll try to explain my decisions and thoughts on the matter;

- It is true that Captain Toad can't jump, and it would be interesting to see how they would implement it. As said, he is quite the likely newcomer for a new Mario character. Tho, I do wish to see Waluigi as he was my main in most Spin-Off Mario games.

- As GoldenYuiitusin explained, the guitar is not her trademark alone to keep, so what I see is her swirly hair, and that alone can't make a new character, but as a semi-clone she would be perfect. Think how Diddy might lose some of his moves to Dixie, or she recieve some brand new, but retaining enough to feel the base character.

- Well, it's the matter of sale perspective, really. How Donkey Kong have sold more than the StarFox series, and the fact that K. Rool got a Mii costume, while Wolf did not get anything. This says something as he was previously playable. He was far down on the priority list, which is sad. Therefore, I believe Dixie would be easy to implement, while K. Rool would take time, but with benefit. Star Fox having 2 new characters they would go the same distance, Wolf as a semi-clone and a brand new character, and who would that be for instence? Or could there be 2 semi-clones? Would that not be too much similarity or work effort? It's all about how they prioritize, which I do not know how they will do it.

- I'm glad to hear that, as it might itself be an eye-opener for the fact that we ''could'' take Balloon Fighter a bit serious. We do have Game & Watch, Duck Hunt & Ice Climbers already, so the next logic, and wishfull thinking could easily be Balloon Fighter, while I do agree Takamaru is very likley because of his addition as an Assist Trophy. For Iwata's legacy, I see and hope that the return of Balloon Fighter and his amazing air gimmick is to be present.

- Because of her amazing and interesting moves from her AT point of view, I think she would be fun, but I'm hoping more for Ridley, which is the first time I feel like I get to say (In Smash lifespan, that is)

- I just see it makes more sense. They could screw us over and give us a Yarn representative, but it's not exclusive to Kirby anymore, because of Yoshi. But Kirby is Sakurai's series, so we never know.

- Indeed, this one is also Sakurai's series, and he is not planning to follow it, so I guess either he is done with it (for now), or he is looking at the most requested KI characters to eventually place them in the next Smash. It would make sense.

- After Smash & Pokémon, F-Zero is my favourite franchise, so of course I push on the idea, since I believe there is tons of hidden potential within the series. And as you said, all we need is a new F-Zero game, and it's looong overdue time to make one. So I hope for Nintendo's sake, and ours, that Switch is the time to do so. As that and a new Smash would make me get the console itself.

- Honestly, I do not want the Rabbids that much, and not at all over Rayman, but because of the Mario x Rabbids crossover, they could happen. And those skins would indeed be funny, so no regular pallette swaps for them please.

- Crash has appeared on plenty of Nintendo's consoles, and is indeed not a Sony exclusive anymore. So, he becomes the most iconic left out in the field, which is why I really would love to see him.

- I honsetly do not know anything of the Costom Robo series, and as far as I know, it was an early GameCube title, as well the character itself Ray MK had a trophy in Melee, Assist in both Brawl and 4, right? or were he left out of 4? I can't remember. Still, I would not mind too much if he got in, that would make me more invested in the character, and the series, learning a few basic things about the franchise and whatnot, but as it stands now, I'm neutral.

- I would not mind Paper Mario, but he could not be a slap on coloured Game & Watch. It's not that easy, so I know that Nintendo would go around the issue, and really put in a great effort, and for that, I believe Paper Mario does have a great shot as the next Mario Rep, as long as the demand for the character is really high at the time.

- I could see it happen, a lot of people want Isabelle, others Nook, and some even K. K Slider, and all of these would be quite fun to play, but first, we need to get Villager to work. Why I mean by that is that, since Animal Crossing is a collecting game, a lot of Villagers move-set is based on things he collect, therefore, another AC character would be somewhat the same, for them to be true to the series, and as we know, that might have hurt said Balloon Fighter with Villagers recovery move, so I guess that would make other characters be hurt by the inclusion of more of those type of moves in the AC enviroment. I don't know.

- Depends on what you mean. If you think that we could get a Ken or Akuma costume over Ryu? Perfect. If you mean that we could get Kyo Kusanagi over Ryu? Hellstorm. Lara Croft over Bayonetta? Hellstorm. As long as they are from the same universe, I don't mind, but if you start to cross the franchises, then it will be a problem for most, that's what I see.

User was warned for this post
I'm just gonna take the back sit, and watch the world burns as you guys insult each other's rosters.
And maybe critique some of the choices myself but who cares what I think.

Edit: Whoops, just realized I took it a bit too far.
I'm a complete idiot.

I hope they cut everyone, and leave every character to be just Corrin.

Corrin, Super Corrin, Princess Corrin, Donkey Corrin, Metal Corrin, Dark Corrin, Dr. Corrin, Captain Corrin, Mii Corrin, etc. :4corrin::4corrinf:

Well, it's not like I can read your image. You didn't upload it in an easy to read format. It was just way too small. When using Smashboards, you gotta see if you can still read the image itself. Can't discuss what we can't see well, you know? I mean, I recognize many, but it got hard to tell with some of the 3rd parties...

Hence, I asked if you could make it more readable. A full list of your options is nice too, if only for discussion purposes. To note, I was more asking for the image to be uploaded so it could be far bigger, not for you to take forever to make a list. >.< That's way more work than I was asking for. Apologies.
You take things too seriously, I wasn't mad or salty at all.

Quick question - is there a lot of demand for a Xenoblade 2 character? Because I'm conflicted over whether to put one in my roster or not.

From what I've seen people just sorta add Rex cause he's The New Guy™, though they could feasibly do something with him and Pyra as a tag-team/summon gimmick.
Go for Elma, she's much cooler.

I'd rather go for Rex/Pyra or no new Xenoblade character tbh because I'm aiming to play most of the games of the characters I add to my roster and I actually sold my copy of Xenoblade X don't kill me pls
I think I'll just go for something else

Just a question; How likley is Bomberman? As I see him in people's rosters. (Even I took him in my own roster, but still, curious.)

He got a game on the Switch (A launch title to be exact), but we are talking about Konami here.
However, do keep in mind that these are ideal rosters, not predictions, and Bomberman is a rather popular choice for a newcomer.

I honestly think he'd be Nintendo's next 3rd party fighter at this point. Him randomly getting a new game exclusive for the Switch is what has rejuvenated my hopes for him landing in Smash. Konami now owns Bomberman, they worked with Konami to put Snake in Brawl in the past, and if i'm being honest, if they do go back to Konami for a fighter, I think they'd include Bomberman before Snake, as Bomberman feels like he belongs in such a game more than Snake does, and Snake was included because Kojima was so enthusiastic about it and he doesn't even work at Konami anymore.

Mesa no likey.

Do keep in mind though that Snake, being a veteran, is very highly requested, and may take priority thanks to his Veteran status.
Look, I get that Snake is loved by a fair amount of people. But he hasn't exactly been prominent on Nintendo in recent years, sure there was a remake on the 3DS, but all his brand new games have gone to Sony and Microsoft. Meanwhile Bomberman has come out with an exclusive Nintendo title (with no other title for any other systems) after being gone for years, hell back in the day he was in a crossover game with Wario called Wario Blast. Not to mention he just looks like the kind of character that would look more at home alongside the rest of the Smash roster than Snake does. Could I see Snake in the next Smash... maybe, but in all honesty, I really doubt he will be, and if they do go to Konami I do strongly believe that Bomberman would be who they get first, despite Snake's veteran status.

That's exactly why I think Snake is more likely.
Snake is a very recognizable character and a video game all star on his own right. Put him in Smash and bam! Profit.
That was Sakurai's mindset when he added the likes of Cloud and Ryu. They're recognizable gaming icons that will attract a bigger audience.

Mario and Link have drastically different character designs. Mario is cartoony and Link is more realistic. I don't think Snake looks out of place at all.

With Konami's current focuses and without Kojima continuing to push for him, I just don't see him coming back. Mario and link feel like they fit alongside each other considerably better than Snake ever felt at home next to any of the other fighters in my opinion.

So what is Bomberman's case? He's a Konami character just like Snake.
Snake is from a series Kojima is directly linked to, and Snake got in BECAUSE of Sakurai's friendship with Kojima. Bomberman has also had a game recently on the Switch, and in at least my opinion, he has the personality and look of someone who fits into Smash better than Snake.

You're ignoring the fact that Kojima or not, Snake is a veteran and will likely be prioritized over Bomberman.
And I doubt the arguement that a character doesn't fit in a cartoony environment because they have realistic looks matters to Sakurai. Not all 3rd party characters have to be cartoony.
