E3 2014 - Super Smash Bros. Invitational - Players/Rules Announced

Inb4 people start panicking over the idea of competitive players not being Smash scene regulars.

Anyways, my jaw dropped with this announcement. It's only 3 months away and we're already bring Smash 4 to all audiences with events this sumer! Totally going to BestBuy again! Honestly, it was better to have a live retail demo than a bland eShop beta. No netcode difficulties, social interaction, no software discontinuation date.

Well I don't see that happening this time as Sakurai actually cares about the competitive scene.

I, I can't... I just can't. I really thought Nintendo had supplied enough Smash hype to last till E3 without having to do anything like this is.

Reality will eventually set in and I'll start to realize that the tourney won't be anything like what we're used to watching (if it's not items on, it'll probably be For Glory format) but screw it, this is still very, VERY awesome news. Hope the same Best Buy I went to last year participates.

Normally I'd say items, but with them announcing that 'no items fd only' mode it could go either way

This is Nintendo's way of saying sorry about the Evo mess I assume. It's going to be radical.

The best news is that it'll be playable at Best Buy though, already having flashbacks to watching ****ty camera videos of Brawl at E For All in October '07, or those Japanese store demos 2 weeks before release. Will be nice to have more footage of entire matches, and also get opinions from people who actually play the demo. Unfortunately I'm European, so no demo for me, but I'm still looking forward to hear people's reports.

Well, isn't this sort of interesting! If the 3DS version is coming out in the Summer...would they really have time to revamp the game based on what people see at the tournament? Assuming they would keep the mechanics and such the same between the 3DS and Wii U. But of course I don't know anything about game development. Though, on the other hand, letting people play it is pretty nice. We'll get a lot of opinions coming out of E3, and it just sounds like Nintendo is betting that they'll be mostly positive. Y'know, it will be so awesome to see what people think about it. This unreal hype could reach maximum capacity come June!

This is great because it guarantees a HUGE amount of gameplay footage on top of any announcements.
It will be good to see the game in this setting. I'm not expecting 1v1 no items, competitive stages but I don't really mind. Seeing the game being played with a RANGE of characters and stages will be the best. So hyped for E3, although my exams will suffer (hell,isn't the World Cup also on then?).

Most probably. Now to wait for the identity of these players. M2K is pretty much a lock, as a top player in all Smash games.

Glad I live near multiple Best Buys for a high chance one of them has it.

Can't wait to see the tournament. And I want everything in it items and all. No point stripping things out of a tournament for a game you're trying to show off before release.

As for people in it I expect there will be some pros but also there will be a couple kids there too cause ya know its Nintendo.
