My concern with it being in Smash Workshop is I don't think a lot of people that would participate are aware that it's here. People come here for Brawl+ and hacking stuff, and some of those people happen to see this thread and care enough to participate.

General Brawl Discussion has more people, and has a lot of people who are just looking for places to post. This thread is enjoyable for everyone, and everyone can vote, and I think we would get more voters overall there, as opposed to here.
