Draft Crews: Mango vs Armada

Ok so everyone throw out one smash name and each name will alternate to Mangos Crew & Armadas Crew, then after we are full discuss who would win the Crew battle.


(Ex. First post say M2K, M2K would be put on Mangos list, then second person says Hungrybox, Hungrybox will go to Armadas)

I got the idea when I thought about how USA is so stacked in a crew battle vs. the World, so instead why not just throw everyone in the same pot. I couldnt decide on 10 or 15 on a team so I just put 10


Please dont list randoms or something, List ACTUAL smashers youd think they would choose
Also list who they would use. Only 1 character

The problem with throwing everyone in the same pot is that there's nothing really riding on it. Nobody's really affiliated as a whole. It would be really impressive gameplay, for sure, but I don't think anyone would really care either.

With more relevance to the topic, I think HBox is really powerful in crews and whoever's picking probably wants to take him first if they care about winning. A lot of high level players handle HBox by using secondaries or whatever, which means he can counter people like Armada (because Armada is not going YL in a crew battle) and such.

I think more realistically what would happen is Mango would create a homie crew consisting of Lovage, S2J, PP, M2K, Lucky, HugS, etc. and Armada would pick people that would be valuable to winning (PP, HBox, M2K, etc) and then a bunch of Europe's top players.

I still want to see regional crews at a big event.

Canada vs EC vs Europe vs South vs WC vs MW would be fun, I think. MW is underpowered and WC is probably overpowered but oh well. South seems like it could be overpowered.

If enough of Mexico came out maybe they could have a crew. They seem to have a few good players.

I think east coast is just as strong as wc, maybe its just me. I would like to see crews taken to that level where they need to think who would be best on each crew and just throw togeather a random team

this is exactly what i was going to say. Mango's crew just just be full of ballers and homies, but probably underpowered compared to Armada's "play to win" crew battle team.


With respect to Regional crews, whether you consider EC to be on par with WC largely boils down to whether you think the south should join them. EC without like, PP/Hbox, doesn't really hold a candle to WC imo.

Draft's need to occur in this order to be fair:
Player A gets first pick.
Player B gets two consecutive picks.
Then player alternate picks.

thats the only way to ensure teams are even. Now i'm going to start over, and whoever goes next has to pick twice for armada:

Why would Armada pick Shroomed just about anyone over PP?

edit: Assuming Mango is going first, like the OP would suggest.

I figure picks are something like

1 - PP or HBox
2 - PP or HBox + M2K

Those first picks are kind of obvious

The remaining picks kind of depend on what you think the opponent will be carrying. ICs are really dangerous in crews because if the opposing crew has someone like S2J or Lovage handy, ICs can be a liability. If the opponent lacks familiarity with them, though, then they can mop through a bunch of people.

M2K's value is also kind of weird because he splits up his characters a lot for different MUs. High potential to get stuck in a MU he doesn't like. But on the other hand, he can also be a hard counter to a lot of different characters and styles. So his value is weird.

Shroomed, Hax, Fly Amanita, Wobbles, Lovage, S2J, Javi

I think a mix of them would probably comprise the next bunch of picks.
