I'm pro-Doc, to an extent.

Given the hatred for anything resembling a clone in Smash, I thinks Doc's best option is to show up as an EX-mode(separate from costumes) which retains/expands upon his differences from normal Mario.

I guess I'm somewhat for Dr. Mario because I like extra content and I have a lot of Melee nostalgia, but I don't care if he doesn't get in and I don't expect him to. He's just a neat bonus IMO.

I would be perfectly fine with this idea as it was one I have suggested very early in this thread.

I'm anti-doc.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see him return but not as a part of the main roster. With all the characters who end up getting left out of Smash games(in all 3 games) I just think that the main roster should focus on unique characters instead of reiterations of characters we already have. If a good character is passed up because focus is put on those kinds of characters then I'd be disappointed. I think Tink, Yink, Doc and Pichu would better serve as DLC especially when we already have Link, Mario and Pikachu on the main roster.

While that line of thinking is respectable, the only problem with it is that it really isn't a matter of Sakurai going "Hmm, I could either make X character, or I could make Dr. Mario/Pichu/Toon Link/whatever....I'll go with the latter!"
More often than not, if a character doesn't get in while a Doc/Pi/Tink gets in, unless stated otherwise (like through an interview or unfinished data), that character wasn't going to get in regardless.

Sooo, we cool now? No more bickering? I was thinking about Final Smashes for Doc. I always thought it would be cool if he could Uber and Kritz himself at the same time...So like, he'll flash blue or red while being invincible and have an attack boost. Like one hit from a Pill will explode on contact, sending the player flying...ultimate stuff...yeah not gonna happen

The problem is if Sakurai puts the time and effort to make alt costume and turn fireballs to pills, he might as well make it an entirely new character because there would be very little left to do after all of that. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't in one way or another. Sakurai loves the Dr. Mario series.

I would prefer if my Melee main came back with being more of a doctor-based fighter like Skullgirls' Valentine (but more lighthearted and comical, obviously), but if he doesn't come back, I still have my Brawl main, Wario.

While I will defend my Melee main to the grave, if he does not get in, it's not like my Brawl main is going anywhere.

Huh... somebody should run an IP check here, 'cos I swear this is like the 6th person in this thread who's actually secretly Sakurai. I don't know why Sakurai keeps making multiple accounts to tell us that Dr. Mario isn't coming back.

Or to word it differently: Argue that Dr. Mario shouldn't come back, or very, very unlikely to come back - after all, I'm 99% certain he won't be back either and don't particularly want him back - but saying that he straight-up won't come back with such certainty and no counterargument makes you sound like a douche.

Ironically, Dr. Mario has probably the biggest chance among the Mario characters. The character has already appeared in Melee, and was planned to appear in Brawl, which tells me the character might appear in the next for whatever excuse thrown at us. Granted there are hardly any people that would want Dr. Mario back as a character, but to say the character has no chance is (unfortunately) foolhardy.

So I have to state my stance on how I feel about Dr. Mario everytime I return to this thread? I already said that:

You've been on this thread long enough to see 6 instances of people out right dismissing him, but short enough not to see this... I haven't out right dismissed him in fact, I've compromised in giving him some way to make his appearance; I have only dismissed him being a playable character. Like I said before, If you are offended by what I said, I can care less, I couldn't not give two liters of whale feces even if i tried (See I learned something....I think). It's just an opinion.
