What are some good times to use Lucas'es down smash. For me it just seems to get over-looked by his d-tilt. The only times I ever use it is when the enemy is under the stage recovering.

I use his downsmash almost constantly XD But I try to keep it fresh so it doesn't get overused.
My favorite use for it would have to be when your opponent is about to roll, do a down smash and they'll roll right into it. At least, that's what my friends do. Or if they roll past, they usually get hit with it from behind.
It has a lot of good uses besides that. Just experiment. It's a good move :3

True I also love the satisfaction of whenever this happens with my friend.

We are both down to one stock, high percents, both of use faking approaches. I accidentily use the d-smash he runs in to punish my mistake, and gets hit by how weirdly long the hitbox is.

That's for me to know
I hate it when I use d-smash and my opponent comes from behind and punishes me from using it... It's kind of risky for me to use. If I can pull it off right though, I can do some serious damage... How do you make people get hit twice?

well to hit twice with your dsmash when somebody is like 30 or lower percent they get shocked twice

I like to use d-smashes on recovering opponents. Charge it up and then try to hit someone just before they grab the edge of the stage. The attack won't hit them after they grab the edge, so time carefully.

I like to use it for rolling also. Also if I use pkt to edgeguard i like to stay in the same place and just charge a downsmash because it has a good hitbox

sidestep spammers or in preparation for quick attacks like jiggly neutral b or falco/fox forward b.

Predicting to punish someone who rolls and stops right in front of you, sidesteppers, using it on an edge turned to the stage, or to edgeguard some characters who doesn't sweetspot the ledge.

Dsmash is AWESOME because of its duration. Great for punishing rollers and spotdodggers.
QFT

I also use it for people getting up from the edge and have a tendency to short-hop airdodge from the ledge (rather than get up and attack). Most any other situation that I'd use it, I prefer using ftilt instead (and dtilt here and there).

Eh. This is too tricky to pull off. If someone is that close, I'll probably use jab or f-tilt to push them back (or d-throw to u-tilt if possible).

note: d-smash is a bad attack if the opponent is coming from the air.

I think the dsmash is great to use on opponents who are dashing towards you. Because of its duration you can use it long before they reach you and it will still connect. Also great for dodgerollers.

Dsmash isn't always bad on opponents coming from the air. For instance, if you're using Dair on a grounded opponent, fast fall it so that you only hit with the 4th hit and pop them up just a little bit, they will often airdodge and take a Dsmash perfectly. Even if they try an aerial they will pretty much always get hit by the Dsmash first. Most other situations yeah I would agree.

I'll dsmash my opponent's approaches sometimes. I mostly try to use it to punish spotdodges.
