Melee rarely has big turnouts rofl. only big tourneys with 8 months of preparation have 260+

MLG Columbus had 1month and few days notice and still got 250. Brawl people usually uses their money more than melee players nowadays, it is kinda obvious >.> with all these brawl tourneys everywhere.

Dekar, you were bashing the Melee community in another thread, and I gotta say that you really must have had some unusual experiences if you think the Melee community is worse than Brawl's. Maybe try not to judge the entire community based on your experiences with a group of people?

We won't get MLG and we don't need them anyway.

Yep, cause in 1-2 years Brawl won't be old either. How many more runs of the circuit will Brawl get before MLG calls it "old".

And thats the crux of the problem with competitive gaming. Instead of working together to further the cause of esports as a whole, we instead cannibalize each other arguing over which game is better. Absolute idiocy. Having Melee on the MLG circuit is a good thing for all competitive gamers, especially Brawl players.

Not that I'd want Melee on the MLG circuit. MLG is a terribly managed company whose decisions are frequently shortsided if not counterproductive. MLG won't be the company that brings esports into where we all know its going: major mainstream acceptance. That company will come, and when it does, games like Melee and Starcraft: BW will be in the conversation, and not the new flavor of the month game.

im pretty sure if mlg hosted a melee tourny in the end of july there will be like 200 people plus..us melee players are dying to go to a mlg tourny, but reading this thread makes me not like mlg more and more. they had a contest months ago about the combo vid and rock crock's video won and they said they wanted to get the smash scene more publicity but they really meant brawl.

Should we stop being so demanding on MLG? They've helped us out a lot, and even though they're focusing on helping barlw out now, we should at least respect them for supporting the Smash scene as a whole.

But really, if MLG can't make us a super big tournament, we'll stick with making our own (Genesis, *Pound* 4, Apex 2010, Revival of Melees, etc). I think tournament hosts for big tournaments should keep looking for sponsorships to help finance these mega events.

Exactly. I'm personally putting a huge focus on Melee for Cataclysm 5 largely due to Brawl being on MLG and the Melee community always showing strong support or my events. Hoping to land some big sponsors, but it's not easy.

edit- If you're the older sibling you're expected to do certain things on your own. You don't need any supervision compared to the younger one.
