Does Marth suck on wifi?

I really think it depends on the wireless router, etc.

Personally it takes me a split second to pull of moves that would normally take a lot less time to do in the first place.
I think he's a little slower and hurts my game a little.

Its extremely hard, if not down right impossible, to use Counter, Dolphin Slash and Dancing Blade to their fullest potential when you factor in the lag. Even 1/10th of a second lag is 6 frames, which is a lot considering the activation times on those moves; Counter is 5 frame, Dancing Blade is 4, Dolphin Slash is 1.

Considering how important these moves are to Marth's defensive game... ya, he really really sucks online.

Now that i think about this is very true. Whenever i use counter it rarely ever works

Like with any character it depends on the connection between the two, or more. I've gotten connections that are near perfect down to a half second delay and it doesn't seem to hurt Marth players at all then.

The laggier it gets the worse it gets for almost anyone. I can see how lag could hurt Marth a little more than others though since he's all about precision.

OFT

Basicially what makes Marths Defense good is his quick attacks. But you cant take advantage of that because its like +6 frames to each move with 1/10 seconds of lag? If so that sucks.

Marth is trash online.

But I like it.

Think of it as training with weights like Piccolo or Rock Lee. The lag holds you back from using your full potential. So you are forced to think ahead and play by prediction and not reaction.

But, Emblem Lord, what about the COUNTER or the DOLPHIN SLASH? Are these not techniques that should be use on reaction due to the very nature of the attacks?

Everything else I understand. Playing reactive with all you attacks is bad, but those two moves stick out at me as reactive defensive moves...

But then again, I may be crazy...

You have to press the buttons a bit slower...which allows the opponent shield possibilities, unlike offline <_<

Hmm, I always did something like this in Melee: play Special Matches with fast speed, so that I would have more trouble doing shorthops and other attacks, and then later play normally.

It kinda helped, because I got used to releasing the jump button alot faster, but it only worked till I got used to normal speed again. I'm just glad that marth's shorthop takes more frames in Brawl than in Melee, and he's a bit lighter (I think, might just be an illusion). I can consistently shorthop in Brawl, but not in Melee.

Also: slow match + Timer on very high = fun!

Did you realize what you just said? Half a second delay is ****ing 30 frames. You're telling me you didn't notice 30 frame lag?

I get 1/6 second lag, on a good day. It hurts.

If anything, it's always Marth that's harder to use online, and Ike is always easier. It's not fair! D:

lag ruins most characters online, i hate lag, i was playing a kid who spammed Marth's fsmash and dsmash today w/ DDD and i shielded and i got hit everytime even though i shielded way before the hit came, it was very bad. Actually i haven't used Marth online yet but it sounds quite annoying

He's alright, but I can NEVER time dancing blade right, I usually only get two~three hits in before lag screws me up.

marth doesnt necessarily suck on wifi. if you compare him in relation to the rest of the cast then he is still above average. yes his skills are diminished but so is everyone else's. in theory marths range and power makes him a very good wifi character
