Does anyone else hate battlefield stages?

Landing on platforms is a death sentence since it’s so easy to punish your get up option even teching. Sword characters have a stupid advantage since all they need to do is spam up tilt and up airs and make it difficult to land and if you land on a platform that’s another free punish. It just feels like you’re getting juggled forever on battlefield stages.

I used to hate them but I just learned how to apply pressure to them and essentially use them to my advantage, I suggest u find a good pressure tool and take advantage of that.

I'd take Battlefield stages over Omega stages any day. I love Battlefield.

I dont hate them, but I think that we dont really need all 103 stages with the same battlefield format with three plataforms on the same position. I think that the Battlefield stages could vary a bit more like:

1. the default 3 plataforms
2. only one bigger central plataform
3. only 2 plataforms: the default scheme without the central higher plataform
4. only 2 plataforms: the default scheme without the central higher plataform and the 2 plataforms more separated, almost entirely out of the stage plataform.
5. the default 3 plataforms but the central plataform on the height of the other two plataforms, and the other two plataforms on the height of the central plataform.
6. only one left or right plataform positioned in different parts of the stage.
7. two plataforms left and right, with different heights.

Variation... I just dont see a reason for not having these simplistic battlefield style stages but with variations on the positions of the plataforms. I see no reason to 103 stages that are THE SAME. It could also help on the situation that someone doesnt like the default Battlefield scheme that exists.

Actually, I would go even further and since all battlefield stages are just so simple stages with plataforms, these extra plataforms could generate something like different styles of Battlefield stages, like Battlefield 1 (default), Battlefield 2 format, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 4... all of them with the simple plataforms in different positions, all this with minimum effort of the development team.

I prefer Battlefield stages over Final Destination stages, but either one is fine. What I'd like to have is a quad-plat stage, which has been seen in SSBU.

Or perhaps one like that without the top so that the tri-plats are inversed.

I struggle with my Ganon quite a lot on em, especially against projectile heavy characters. Whereas omega stages i do far better against em.

With other characters I don’t do near as bad on em, but seeing as Ganondorf is my main....

Good thing there's another 103 options with different platform positions.

Battlefield stages are so much fun and there are so many options on them. Just gotta learn to move around the platforms better and use them to your advantage

The only thing I hate about them is how prevalent they are now. I prefer having Battlefield as one form of stage with platforms. But now we essentially get it in every online match ever.

I wish more stages had different platform layouts without stage transitions.

I feel like, for people out there for that For Glory experience, that's the way it SHOULD be. It's a very "default" "neutral" style stages, while not being like FD stages and cutting out a lot of the game's mechanics by not having platforms at all.

Seriously, competitive rules should just be "all stages, battlefield mode only". Viewers get the most visual variety possible, players get a stable, predictable layout that they can learn to.

I have Final Destination set as my choice despite not playing characters that benefit from it just because everyone and their grandma seems to have Battlefield set. I'd choose Hazards Off, but they neglected to exclude walk-offs and auto-scrolls in that setting, which completely ruins it...

The issue with that is that while it increases the visual variety, it hurts the gameplay variety. Besides, while Battlefield is a fairly balanced stage, it is not perfect. The new platform mechanics makes camping underneath the platforms very easy with some characters, and as mentioned before they also improve the juggling a pressure abilities of swordsmen who are already very powerful in this game. They also extend ladder combos for some characters like Mario, and the triplats can even make it easier for certain characters like Charizard and Bowser to get kills off of their up throw or flying slam respectively. Having good stage variety also encourages good character variety, which is why I'd never condone a single stage ruleset, and this is coming from someone who's character really benefits from Battlefield.

Honestly dual plats are much more balanced as you can see from the current popularity of hazards off Pokemon Stadium, but even that stage has the issue of being fairly large.

I liked them until I learned that if you’re fighting a sword character on a Battlefield stage you’re at an inherent disadvantage. Which is a problem considering how many sword characters are in this game.

Movement on Battlefield is infinitely more fun then on most other stages. Honestly I'm happy I don't need to play 30k more games on FD.

I like both Omega and battlefield equaly. I wish ther was a preferred rule for Omega AND Battlefield stages for online.

I think you just need some practice

Battlefield is the most fun stage in the game. The problem here is people who playing For Glory only know how to play on FD and can’t use the platforms effectively. All battlefield does is allow for more dynamic gameplay.

I noticed some ppl doesn´t know how to play effective in BF, I´m not saying is better or not than FD , simply I think is good to know all mechanics the game has, even if late, we discard some that we don´t like

Is there ever a reason to land on a platform higher than your opponent? I struggle with Battlefield as well, at least for certain characters (like Mega Man).

I’d rather fight Marth 30 times a day on Battlefield than deal with half the cast on FD. For Glory PTSD aside, I sincerely can’t stand that stage. It turns the game into a campy mess. I sometimes have to counterpick there and it makes me feel like I need a shower afterward.

I got tired of Omega stages, so I'm glad tri-plats are allowed to be played on against random players. I just hate fighting Bowser there because they seem to go for a side B and it's practically instant death because I get body slammed on the highest platform. Oh well.

It seems like people pick it just for that, too.

I prefer Final Destination, even though Battlefield is advantageous for Dorf. That FD has fewer movement options for the opponent makes it much easier for me as a heavy to predict their movements. I don't think sword characters are broken on Battlefield stages, but it can certainly be annoying trying to land. I opt for the stage ledge in most cases.

Oh hey this thread got bumped.

Being on a platform isn't a great position to be in, but since it allows you to shield its better for a lot of characters then just being in the open air. Ivysaur and Charizard are really bad at escaping juggles, so as a PT main platforms can be a lifesaver.

Having platforms can also make directional air dodges safer to use since they can cancel their end lag. This can be really important for floaty characters, since being floatier means having more end lag after an air dodge in Ultimate.

.. Nah. The Battlefield stage is very classic and amazing. They can be a weakness for specific characters, but once you get around them, the stages are near perfect and endlessly charming.

The only thing that annoys us about Battlefield and Omega stages is that Sakurai and the team have taken so much care and attention to making the stages interesting and packing detail, playability and fun into them, and yet the only two stages anyone cares about are flat and boring, as opposed to enjoying the stages that are supposed to be enjoyed. Yeah, 75m and Pac-Land are annoying, but Smash is about fun, moreso than competition, meaning that stages like Gaur Plain, Mementos and Temple are designed to be fun, not tournament viable. It's probably an unpopular opinion, and we have nothing against the presence of Omega and Battlefield forms of stages, but that's our opinion.
