Until they announce FP3. Four months between characters, CP12 released seven months after CP11, and it's a promotional Pokemon. Six more characters, twenty four months total, plus the seven between passes, 31 more months, so about two and a half more years - takes us to partway to 2024 when the Switch successor shows up and a new Smash is announced two years prematurely.
At this point, I doubt a Fighters Pass 3 is even going to happen, with Sakurai finally going to retire from making Smash games for a while and all.

I just watched the new Dread trailer and HOLY **** I CANT BELIEVE that this game can just constantly look better and better each time I see it. This game is insane.
Yeah, the mobility looks fantastic. The air dash... I just love it

I want this Samus in Smash, Sakurai!

The real problem with wanting a character from a game that’s not out yet is that nobody knows the game’s quality. It could be a technical disaster like Cyberpunk 2077, an outright bad game like Dead Rising 4 or just mediocre/forgettable.

Then that character is in Smash over someone from a game people actually love, maybe even over a character from the same franchise like Demi-Fiend.
I mean if Nintendo picks a character from a new game before said game comes out, I doubt they care about the game's quality. In that sense, it's just business.

Also, while I get your point, that argument is kinda weak if you ask me. You can enjoy or love a character regardless of the game's quality, and that's assuming the quality of a videogame (or anything for that matter) is something we can objectively quantify, which is obviously not the case.

I mean, is it really?

Honest question. We got maint for Smash just recently and it amounted to nothing.
Eshop maintenance and other forms of maintenance in a large amount in a short time frame can be an indicator. Most likely, the maintenance is for Warioware which releases the following week

Maintenance an entire week in advance though? Seems like they'd add it in sooner.

Well, we'll know in a few days if it matters or not.

Just for reference, the time frame for September for Nintendo looks like this right now as the most likely outcome:

Week of the 1st and 2nd: the Direct
Week of the 10th: Warioware releases
Week of the 17th: most likely the Metroid Dread overview
Week of the 24th: the absolute latest FP11 would release
Last few days: the Tokyo Game Show

Nintendo doesn’t attend TGS tho if I’m not mistaken

I really question if they'd drop the Direct the same week as WarioWare.

On one hand, it works as last second promotion, but there's gonna be a lot of stuff in the Direct that probably ends up overshadowing it, like say, Smash.

I do think 2nd week is more likely for it, however.

It does make sense in a way to drop the direct on the 2nd week of September. You give a last minute reminder like a day or 2 before wariowares release then it’s gonna stay on people’s minds no matter what is revealed.

I was bored and figured I'd show my mains in Smash Ultimate!

My current order is:
  • Cloud is a Main.
  • Banjo is Secondary
  • Chrom and Sephiroth are tertiary mains.
  • Roy is sometimes if I'm feelin' it.
  • And in my pool of pocket fighting game characters, Terry is my main, followed by Ryu, then Kazuya.
  • Annnnnnd... I dunno about Chrome Dino since he's early in development lmao. (and tbh, I don't have a vision about his stats quite yet funnily enough.)

I'm actually surprised for as many times as I've watched the presentation how I somehow never picked up on that.
Me neither but its probably because I dont understand most of what he says so I pay more attention to the subtitles. Still, pretty interesting.

Today in 1987, "Dracula II: Seal of the Curse" (Castlevania II: Simon's Quest) was released! The second game in the series, this was an RPG-style Castlevania. In Smash Bros, Simon's P2 color is based on this game, and Carmilla will appear as a guest on Dracula's Castle.

Today in 1987, "Dracula II: The Seal of the Curse" (Castlevania II: Simon's Quest) is on sale !! The second work in the series, RPG-style Castlevania. In Smash Bra, Simon's 2P color is colored with the image of "Dracula II", and Camilla (Camilla) will appear as a guest.

What a horrible night for the POTD. (not really, but this is the only quote of the game I know)

...I should play this, but I want to beat the original first. The battle against Death is tough!

I know I beat Castlevania 1. Wasn't easy, yeah.

...Now, 2. That's quite a difficult one. I've never gotten very far(I've did better on Zelda II, and I suck at the game).

  • Kazuya is a main
  • Zelda is also a main, albeit perhaps slightly less so
  • Ganondorf is a secondary
  • Bowser and King K. Rool are nice tertiaries!
  • Terry, Wolf, Steve/Enderman, and Mii Gunner are the "if I'm in the mood" types
