So, during a Crash Team Racing speedrun stream on Hypnoshark's Twitch channel, I said that Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex really wasn't that bad of a game. It turned into a flame war.

In the end, Hypnoshark said people are allowed to like what they like and hate what they hate, but man, that was the best prank I ever pulled. XD

Konami: while I'd love to see Alucard join the roster I feel this is a real stretch at this point. Contra, Silent Hill and ... Frogger (idk that's kinda funny to me but maybe) are more likely but overall I think Konami is done with smash reps

Though If I could pick, I'd choose Heather as our Silent Hill rep. Even with SH2 probably being the most popular entry, Heather is the most popular protagonist and I feel she would be a cooler choice. She would also kinda rep not only SH3 but also SH1, which is appreciated, I think.
Genuinely one of my favorite female characters in videogames.

She's also the only character from classic SH games that could have some special abilities if they wanted, which could set her apart from other protags.

Oh and she has a ****-ton of different unlockable costumes in SH3 so the potential for alts in Smash would be big. To show a few possibilities:

Genuinely the scariest game I played growing up was Silent Hill for the playstation. I turned the lights out, my surround sound up, and proceeded to scare the living crap out of myself. I would be very pleased with some SH rep!

Heather is not only a super cool character, Silent Hill 3 also has tons of super wacky weapons they could draw on to provide the fun of the sillier side of these otherwise terrifying games.

I did this breakdown once but I'll do it again since it's been a long time.

Alucard: Has the advantage of fitting second theory, is very popular, and undoubtedly the next Castlevania rep. However Castlevania is already repped pretty well so I feel they might go for someone else.

Bill Rizer: Criminally underrated in speculation in my opinion. One of the few iconic NES characters left that isn't deconfirmed in some way and it's still going to this day. It has a strong legacy and plenty of people would recognize him.

Raiden: Most likely the next Metal Gear rep. He is surprisingly popular from what I've seen in polls and he got his own spinoff game. However right now Metal Gear seems to be in a state of limbo so the future of it is unknown.

Pyramid Head: Silent Hill is arguably the second greatest horror franchise behind Resident Evil. I do think his chances rely heavily on if Sakurai is able to keep the character true to the games while staying within the E10+ rating. I do think it's possible, just have his sword be rusty and have some of the less frightening enemies appear on the stage and bam you are good. The only thing to keep in mind is that Pyramid Head is a manifestation of the Silent Hill 2 protagonist's fears and anxieties but honestly I could see Sakurai giving that a pass since no matter how you slice it, it would be difficult to implement that symbolism.

Frogger: Iconic arcade mascot and has gotten consistent releases over the years. He is feasible but at the same time there isn't much pointing towards him.

Overall, I would say Alucard and Bill Rizer are the frontrunners while Pyramid Head is a darkhorse. Now would Konami get another character? Maybe. They do seem to be easy to work with if the massive amount of Castlevania content is anything to go by and Kazuya destroys the argument with the Bomberman costume that people liked to bring up.

I'm pretty sure Sakurai holds a bias for the NES era games..
Contra being one of those NES era games..
So if Sakurai likes Contra, maybe a bit of a push could've let to them happening later?

Even without Sakurai hypothetically pushing for them, they're still likely.

The thing is not all of the Contra games are rated M which brings up the question: Would they be able to use the logo as long as it's not the specific logo for the M rated games, or would they have to raise the presentation M anyway since that's the highest rating? Because by that logic characters like Phoenix Wright fit with M theory too.

yeah I think M theory is based on if you have a M rated game in your series then your trailer would automatically be M rated if you got in meaning M theory works for contra, Tekken, ace attorney etc

In case you're not following PlayStation game speculation, many think that Blue Box's Project "Abandoned" could be a new Silent Hill game.

If it is... Kojima..Konami..Silent Hill.. Pyramid Head, anyone?

Especially if it's AT LEAST revealed this year, which I think it will be. Release could be a different story

Also, they could just not raise the presentation M, but instead say (Contra is rated ___ by the ESRB) like they did for XC2 and Tekken.

I think Bill Rizer and Lance Bean(as an Alt) are the most likely. Alucard and Raiden are other possibilities if one of their series already in Smash gets more. And Pyramid Head is the dark horse. Frogger would be the underdog.

A THIRD Castlevania character, even a SECOND Metal Gear character, hold absolutely no appeal to me. I live in a world where character is important, but franchise is also important. I wouldn't have 2 Castlevania characters, or even 1 Metal Gear character, if I were choosing.
The fact that we live in a world where we aren't discussing Bomberman here (and with understandable reasons) is distressing.

I would be really hyped for Bill Rizer in Smash. I have a lot of memories with the older games. The first Contra was the only game I’ve ever played with my mother. The only NES characters I want more than him are the Battletoads.

there’s a spin-off tekken game in the tekken franchise that’s M rated. Tekken’s logo is just tekken and nothing else which represents the whole franchise and nothing specific which probably means tekken is our M rated stuff. M theory still lives on though as there’s plenty who don’t think it’s to do with tekken

same. It’s just a theory going around that can’t really be debunked until the last character is revealed. We can kind of get the idea that they were just trying to be consistent with pass 1or that tekken fits the bill, However there’s nothing concrete to disprove it until that final reveal which is honestly frustrating because the thought of knowing the last character has 70% been leaked as early as around min min is frustrating. We’ve done soo well to not leak any of the characters in this pass so far so it would be frustrating to know that a character was leaked as early as min min because Nintendo decided to be weird.
