Honestly as right now I'm still pretty confident the last fighter could be Arle. Alongside SNK, Sega is the only third party with playable characters who got nothing at all in pass 2 (Konami got the Gil and Bomberman mii, Capcom got Monster hunter, Arthur and Dante mii, Square have Sephiroth, Microsoft have Steve and Namco have Kazuya).

A second Splatoon character has been by far the most slept-on possibility this entire DLC cycle, especially with Splatoon 3 now coming. This series is not staying at 1 rep forever. It just isn't. It's Nintendo's biggest new IP in ages and is selling like crazy. I don't know if this is the moment where it expands or if it'll be the next game, but it is expanding in Smash sooner or later.

I think the fact that Capcom hasn't even received one single character at all in the DLC cycle can be interpreted as eyebrow raising. I mean, considering that all they got was Ken in the base game and all the Smash 4 Mii Costumes plus Arthur and Dante, it can definitely be interpreted as strange to be sure. That, and most people are expecting to have a more niche series wrap up the DLC, which Ace Attorney falls into. Phoenix was also highly requested in the Smash ballot days as I recall, so it's possible he was considered by the Nintendo higher ups. That, and there is a substantial Japanese fanbase for Ace Attorney as well, so we can't overlook that detail

if the final character will be revealed in December at TGA (doubtful) I’m feeling either Crash or a LoL character

if it’s before then (October or November most realistically) I’m feeling Octoling. Or maybe Neku if NEO TWEWY doesn’t get a Spirit Event. Or even Phoenix Wright

My big three predictions ars Ubisoft, Splatoon or Zelda. I could see Ubisoft popping back in for a Mii Costume for a first party character though. SEGA is a good honorable mention with SMT. Capcom….is not dead yet but it’s gonna take a turnabout to judge it in their favor.

The last fighter could be just about anyone, regardless of whether or not it's a character who's been consistently requested. I've been keeping my expectations in check, and the only one I was kinda "eh" about was Byleth. I've been mostly fine with who we got, and I wish Sakurai my best regards when he's done with Ultimate.

I definitely agree with that. Although I'd through Amaterasu in the mix as a 2nd Capcom frontrunner, mostly through process of elimination tho.

I could see her getting picked as a more unique inclusion visually, and also as a means for Capcom to further push the series. But that's just me.

BTW, I was off on the Mii Costumes. I was calling 3-4 Tekken, Lloyd, and another unknown one that I couldn't predict.

0 Tekken costumes was surprising but it started to make sense when Sakurai referenced how Tekken mechanics do not fit with Smash. He seemed hesitant on including Tekken content.
