Did some research,

Not a HUGE fan of her but I'd be down for Reimu!
Could use a current indie rep (Steve WAS) and she's been around longer than Shantae and Quote!

Also we don't have a Bullet Hell rep..
The music alone would be enough to get people on board I think. Imagine having 50+ Touhou songs in Smash

WAIT TOUHOU'S ONLY BEEN DEVELOPED BY 1 DUDE? WOAH
Speaking of Reimu: She and Freddy would make a great pair for a dual reveal, since they share so much stuff in common.

Gemini Sunrise from Sakura Wars So Long My Love.

Well, she would be a great curveball, especially if she gets in before Sakura Shinguji.

I don't gave any "gut" feelings. Been character speculating in this series way too long.

I just try to figure out who would be a logical choice, and Chief is super duper logical to me.

I mean sure, but OVER 50? I mean there ARE almost 30 Touhou games, so I guess that works out.
More music for us all to listen to at least.

My gut feeling is Porky Minch. Anyone who wants to fight me, I'll be in my Absolutely Safe Capsule.

I mean.... besides being a game developed by 1 guy... not really?
Actually, both series have a
LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
of fangames.

Also, they'd both rep previously-unrepresented genres.

To watch the world burn at that dual reveal...
It'd be worth it, even if we join the world in getting burnt. :4pacman:

Here’s my double-down for the E3 reveal; it’ll be someone nobody expects, and we can expect incessant whining from all corners of the internet for the fact that it’s not who the majority of people thought it was.

This includes all of you, so don’t get your hopes up.
So, just your average day then?

I don't have any gut feelings about who CP10 or 11 could be, nor am I even going to bother guessing when there are dozens of characters with various different things going in their favor.

Whatever happens at this point happens is pretty much all I got at this point.

It definitely is being slept on, though. Not because people particularly hate Sword & Shield, but it got a spirit event, two Pokemon tournaments, recent voice acting theory that also makes it unlikely a character requiring a lot of voice acting making it in, and the fact that we are close to gen 9 at this point than from the start of gen 8.
We had very few instances where they skipped a spirit event, and once of them was Fire Emblem: Three Houses that ended up getting a character in.
I don't understand why they would have release a spirit event for Sword & Shield if they intended on adding a character eventually. And I'm certain most people think the same to an extent.
So I was saving this for another theory I was making, but to play Devil's Advocate, I have a proposition for the appearance of the Spirit Event

So the Sword and Shield event came very close to the actual release to the game, like around a Week after the game came out. the reason there wasn't a Spirit Event on the day the game came out was because that week was Tourney week, and that week was the Sword and Shield Tourney event

If you compare this to other Nintendo I.P's that got spirit events, they got their spirit events like months after the game came out. Paper Mario, Astral Chain, Ring Fit, Bowser's Fury, and Age of Calamity are examples

One thing you notice though is that with 3rd party I.Ps like Trials of Mana, Bravely Default 2, Monster Hunter Rise, and Daemon X Machina (Kinda), their Spirit events come out within a week of the game's reveals, same deal as with Pokemon

Remember that Nintendo actually doesn't 100% own Pokemon. they share the rights with Gamefreak and Creatures.Inc in a 33% split. This means that Nintendo will have to compromise with the demands of the other 2 entities

So an Argument I could see is that even in the case a Pokemon Fighter was in the cards, Gamefreak and/or Creatures.Inc wanted to immediately promote the game to make sure that as many people know the Pokemon game is out, including Smash players. That would be part of the reason we got the Spirit Event and the Tourney event near when the game came out. Even I noticed that the Pokemon Spirit Event seemed to be more promotion based than usual in nature, and that was part of why part of me is hesitant in calling Pokemon deconfirmed from the Spirit event

List of Event Tourneys - SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki (ssbwiki.com)

List of Spirit Board events - SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki (ssbwiki.com)

While Fire Emblem 3 Houses had 3rd party help, Nintendo 100% owns the I.P to Fire Emblem, unlike Pokemon, so they are free to promote it in their own way

Now there still may be some holes. in Particular, the Team Rocket Mii Costume might have been better placed with Terry's Pack since that was closer to the actual release to the game. However being in Banjo's Pack might have been safer in the case development on Terry went longer than expected

I talk about this more in another theory I have planned

So Monday the 15th is the direct eh? One day away from when Ryu was officially revealed in 2015 on Sunday the 14th. If there's a mini direct tomorrow, maybe there will be a final smash direct announced there. Bonus points if it's also the 14th.

But in their most recent financial reports and stuff, Persona is listed as separate from the rest of Megami Tensei
Which is a neat piece of trivia and all, but it doesn't actually CHANGE anything.

Like, if Square Enix were to put out Builders 3, and it no longer had Dragon Quest in the title, that wouldn't suddenly mean "Oh, the Builders games are now a separate franchise from Dragon Quest! And this change is also somehow retroactive, so DQ Builders 1 and 2 are also no longer Dragon Quest games!"

Atlus can say Persona is a separate thing, but it doesn't make the Persona games any less of a MegaTen spinoff.

I doubt it would matter that much anyway, if they want to add Demi-Fiend, they'll add him.
This part is completely valid. Saying Persona isn't part of the MegaTen franchise, isn't.

Persona is basically an M-rated Kingdom Hearts; it's a completely separate series from what it's based on (in the latter's case, Final Fantasy), but there's still plenty of things it borrows from that bigger series.
There's a difference between being a spinoff, and a crossover.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is not a Resident Evil spinoff just because it has Jill in it. It's a crossover between multiple franchises. Just like Kingdom Hearts.

Persona isn't. It's just a spinoff.

I was just meaning ATLUS internally considers them as separate nowadays.

To be honest, I personally think that Persona is a spin-off, I was just meaning that internally they seem to be viewed separately.

I think Reimu and Quote would make more sense. Quote has more historical value than Freddy, his creator (though not his current owners, I'll concede) is Japanese, and him and Reimu are kinda two sides of the same coin.

Touhou is a huge success, but hasn't been a big influence outside of things explicitly based on it; Cave Story is more forgotten nowadays but was a keystone in general indie history. Touhou is huge in Japan but more niche in the west; Cave Story isn't as big in Japan but has a bit better recognizability worldwide.

I don't get the correlation.
Both are indie games created by one guy (not the same guy, just so everyone here knows), they have a great deal of fan games, and they'd both represent previously-unrepped genres. Plus, they are Western and Eastern counterparts of each other.

If we are getting 2 reveals at E3 and later from Sakurai Presents this season, he'll tell us that there's one more fighter outside of FP2, then the 2 I think are going to revealed are Reimu and Crash Bandicoot. And as for the one last fighter, if it's a free bonus, then it's a character from Nintendo. If it's paid, then it's a fighter from a third party.

Magus was also able to summon Lavos from another time period so that shows he at least has some control over time.
I believe when Magus tries to summon Lavos, he's actually trying to summon the one from his own time period that's sleeping underground, not summoning him from a different time period.

The ability to warp time actually comes from Lavos itself.

Ghost n' Goblins (unless you think Fire Brand still has a shot at entering the roster before Arthur)
sigh, I wish, but no.

There will be but ONE fighter at E3 this year, and it is gonna be

HERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

I'm not sure whether it's funnier to imagine FNAF being created by ZUN, or Touhou being created by Scott Cawthon.

Imagine if that wasn't the case; it might've become a monkey's paw situation where Smash is milking Namco fighters like Fire Emblem.
To be fair, Bandai-Namco's IPs are a much more wide-reaching and wider group than just a single series. We'd have guys like Heihachi, the Chosen Undead, and in the best-case scenario we'd be able to settle the Lloyd/Yuri debate by having them both at the same time. And either way I'm fine with more FE, so long as they represent all the weapons and games well enough.

So yeah, I'm fine with this.

My hopes for the final two are not super high but considering we've already had the high highs of Banjo, Steve, Sephiroth and Best Girl (I'll let you figure out who) I'd say we've done pretty well.
I already got Simon, Hero, Terry and Sephiroth. Two most wanteds and two highly wanteds. So Ultimate has been very good to me.

But...

What "gut feeling" are y'all getting on CP10? (If any)

I'm not gonna 100% follow through with it because I want to hype responsibly, but mine's saying CP10 will be a western third party, for sure gonna make lots of people happy.
My radar has landed on King Boo. Luigi's Mansion 3 not having a spirit event is suspicious given that virtually every major Nintendo release has had one and it fits with the "Second Chances" theory if Luigi's Mansion 3 was initially considered for the promotional spot in FP1 that went to Fire Emblem: Three Houses and Byleth.

Plus, King Boo is a character that would appeal to the general audience of E3. Virtually every Mario spin-off has either Boo or King Boo playable and they're generally a popular choice, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe even opting to add the latter before Diddy Kong. He may get some criticism for being "too safe", but enough people could recognize him to make a reasonably strong E3 headline.

That being said, I anticipate not seeing him on the 15th. There are so many characters it could be and virtually every option has something out of their favour, so I'm not really confident in anyone. That being said, King Boo is still who I think has the most likely shot

Also I think at this E3 Direct, we gonna see the Fortnite content that would be coming to Smash, whether it be a Character, Mii, Spirit event, etc
