This tournament will have to be moved to a date in the nearby future. UCSD reservations services just contacted me with a cancellation notice. Due to finals, quiet hours are in effect for all UCSD dormitory/apartment locations. This includes the Sixth College quad (where the Lodge is located). I apologize profusely for not inquiring about this sooner.

This tournament is still going to happen though, I'll update you guys as soon as I figure out the next available date. That being said, would anybody have a problem attending this on a weekday? If not, it can be as soon as the week of September 5th. If so I'll keep it on a weekend sometime soon.

Background Infomation about this Tournament:

This Tournament Series is to promote more players in the Smash Community, introduce the game to the new players without getting ***** hard, and let unranked players have a chance to win/do well in a tournament without running into Ranked players and having the same boring tournament results.

What's it about?

Remember that tournament where ranked players are banned and everyone had a chance to win that tournament in the summer last year in Irvine, CA with about 90 players & about 36 teams entered? Well Azn Lep and DJ Mirror aka Jkun now present the Arcadian 2 tournament but bigger and better then ever! (No Fire Hazard this time ) Last time we had the ranked players banned so everyone had a chance to win...Now we made a few changes and such. Ranked players can now enter but with severe character restrictions ONLY. There will be singles pools and such so please come and enter!

NOTE: Pokemon Stadium is only neutral for 2v2. It's a counter pick for 1v1. Fountain of Dreams is only neutral for 1v1 and it's banned for 2v2 due to lag.

* Items are set to off.

* Timed out matches will be determined by the remaining number of lives, then percentage of the current stock. In the event of a percentage tie, replay that match. Any Sudden Death match is strictly not to be played.

* For doubles: Team Attack will be ON, life stealing allowed.

* First stage is random from the Neutral stages listed below.

* Both players must do stage strike where they do rock, paper, scissors. Winner picks first, then the loser pick the next two stages and then winner pick the last stage.

* If both players do not agree to stage strike then they may opt for a Random Stage Reset.

* The loser of the first match will announce a new stage to play on for the next game. The winner will then be allowed to switch characters, followed by the loser. Apply the same logic for the third match (and fourth/fifth when applicable) if there is one. (Advanced Slob Picks)

* No stage may be used twice in a single set if the counter-picking player has already won on that stage, unless the opponent agrees to use the stage again. (Dave's Stupid Rule)

* Double Blind character pick can be called at anytime before the first game of a set starts, and only apply to the first game.

* Wobbling is banned. This included the new wobbling as well.

* The Ice Climber Freeze Glitch is banned even though it's funny as hell.

* Jigglypuff's rising pound stall is banned.

* Peach's bomber stall beneath levels where she is unreachable is banned.

* Masterhand is banned.

* There will be no ties in any tournament. Anyone refusing to play any match (including the finals) will be disqualified and forfeit all rights to any titles or prizes they might have otherwise earned for that tournament with no refunds.

* Collusion of any kind with your competitors is considered cheating. If the Tournament Director determines that any competitor is colluding to manipulate the results or intentionally under performing, the collaborating players may be immediately disqualified. This determination is to be made at the sole discretion of the Tournament Director. Anyone disqualified in this manner forfeits all rights to any titles or prizes they might have otherwise earned for that tournament with no refunds.

The thing is not alot of rank players are not going to this:

Lucky aka Joey is done with the game plus he want to spend more time on SSF4, so he won't go.

Mango can't enter singles. He's going to enter doubles only and he'll team with Dunk. He can't use Fox anyways.
Zhu won't go because he's not using Fox/Falco and he doesn't care about it.
HugS won't go.
Kira won't go because of Starcraft 2.
Lovage/Smoke2Jointz will be at dunk's place.

The only PR Players that'll maybe going are:

Connor (Need to get ready for school)

If this reach 60 people then this will be in effect:

1) pools.
2) Bracket Round 1 = all the Arcadians play each other.
3) Bracket Round 2 = Rank Players will play there with the remaining Arcadians from the first round.

Reasons: To let people not get discourage easily when they play, more time to play people/rank players, etc.

Adam aka Neighborhood P won the last Arcadian with S2J getting second (This is before S2J was ranked and he was slowly getting good) (But then again Adam is good...>__>)

MacD was favored to win the tournament but he got taken out by Boss!

Azn Lep has faith in you guys! >=] You got this. I'm sure everyone in So Cal stepped it up.

really this tourney is for the arcadians, last time ranked people complained about how they wanted to enter so we all discussed ways to let ranked people enter but still make it fair

if you don't change you mind, you should look at the first post, you said both 5-10 and 11-15 can use high tiers and below that aren't their mains, i thought it was 5-10 can't use high tier or above

besides, i think it'd be fun to enter with my low tier, if the other ranked people don't wanna enter with a crappy character, they don't have to come, simple as that

Ok I just remember a few things and I'll give a reason why I allowed rank players to enter without their mains.

This past yeah we had alot of people stepping it up.

LAST YEAR:
PBS beat Maple & S2J (but that's last year tho around july or aug)
G&T/Mr.Tracy beat DSF at one of Havok's melee tournament (Which it's last year too)


This year:

Fiction beat Kira.
Bizzaro Flame beat Teczero & HugS.
GSUB beat Kira as well.
Stabbedbyanipple made it out to bracket at APEX, beating UK best peach.
Boss beat MacD a few times.
Alex19 beat Zhu before he got on the PR.
Little England beat MacD.
Westballz has some good wins under his belts (I forgot who he beat, so Wes.. please tell) and he beat the player that was ****** UCSD: San Diego Reaper.
PNOY beat both Fly & Connor.
Leeland beat PB&J or Toph.
Tafokint beat Falcomist, HMW and a few people from Nor Cal PR.


Most of these wins are legit.


You know So Cal had stepped up alot this year. SD have some good wins under their belt.

I agree, I don't see any reason for anyone "ranked" or "rank worthy" or w/e to use anything mid tier or higher, unless it'd be funny, like MacD's Fox / Falco or something (especially if he like, beats someone good LOL).

But seriously, I think a fair limitation would be for all those people to use low or below, there's not much in the pot, and I think it'd be a great change of pace to have something like this.

yeah, on top of that what we really want is for winners/losers/grand finals to be matches between the best unranked players. It'd be really lame if winners finals were mango vs some arcadian, and then even more lame if GF was mango vs zhu with high/mid tier characters.
