That's it. However it doesn't seem to imply a series-wide medley, so far.
This is what I was thinking of. Afterwards some of the users began talking about other pieces of music, which I believe confused me into thinking that all of them had been remastered as well. Thanks for clarifying this.

That's actually a bit better though. I wouldn't feel good about their being a full series of songs or a medley and it not having DKC3 music.

Man, I can't believe I've only been posting in this thread for exactly a month, it feels like longer. I have no idea why I didn't join this thread sooner, but I was off the boards for a long time until the game's actual reveal. The more I think about it, the more I remember just how much I wanted Dixie in recent Smash games. I just let it go because I was so focused on getting Wolf back. She's been my most wanted newcomer for probably 10 years, and I just now joined her support group. Shame on me.

Let's go ahead and fire up those engines for the Dixie hype train! Unofficial yes but this is our time to make some noise and show we mean business. I already casted my vote. I think we should be as vocal as possible on every poll we can find. Again even if her fate was already decided for the base game there is always a chance for DLC and if the devs of Smash see she's always standing near the top in every poll they look at then they might address it. If I have to wait another 8 years to play as Dixie then so be it but she will get in Smash one way or another. If the King can do it so can Dixie! #DKDOUBLE #TEAMDK

Hey there everyone, nice to meet you all. Now, because of the massive excitement I felt regarding the upcoming SSBU, and my own concerns/wishes/predictions/etc, and because I seriously need to burn off all that extra energy until release day, I figured I'd drop by and participate in supporting my strong desire to have Dixie in Smash Bros. Truth be told, as I'm sure plenty of people have said already, now that we have King K. Rool as a playable fighter, Dixie's inclusion feels like it may indeed be possible. And I sure hope it is!

So yeah, if no one minds, I'd like to be a supporter too. I didn't realize it until the Smash Ballot happened a while back, but it seems I have a true soft spot for both Diddy and Dixie Kong, given how nostalgic I am towards DKC2 (what, with it being a game I regularly played when I was 4/5 years old.) So yeah, rambling aside, count me in. :)

Also, sorry if I don't have much to contribute in terms of what I think could work as Dixie's moveset; many of you have come up with ideas that blow anything I could come up with out of the water. All I know for certain is that I want to see Diddy and Dixie smash it up together in Ultimate. Breaks my heart a bit to imagine Dixie having to wait it out on the sidelines and watch Diddy have all the fun.

No need to be sorry about the moveset thing. We're all here to show our support for Dixie in smash, and there are many ways to do that. As you mentioned, there already some great movesets in the original post anyway. And I think Sakurai himself could make a great moveset for Dixie if he wanted to.

Yeah, I do too. They're both pretty great. I haven't been a DKC fan for THAT long, but it's probably become my favorite series.

I'm hoping this is finally Dixie's time to twirl her way into battle. She deserves it, and has deserved it for a long time.

Wait, what DKC medley?
You could hear a "dkc medley" in the smash
direct when they showed the new items for the game (like the banana gun, which is not a dk item!). Nothing special to be honest, only heard two songs that were in smash 4 and brawl already: bonus blitz room and dkc map theme :-(

Much appreciated there as well. Closest thing I could think of when it comes to showing my enthusiasm is probably doing what I do best; making various kinds of art, no matter what form they may take. I'd love to take a crack at drawing Dixie for the fun of it all, but I'm still grappling with my lack of skill and my perfectionist behavior; two things that seem to constantly get in my way. Hopefully some day I'll go "the heck with it" and try and draw the best picture I can make. If I'm happy enough with how it turns out, I wouldn't mind sharing it here as well. Though I wouldn't expect this sort of thing to happen anytime soon. Not like I have as much time as I'd like to sit around and draw all day.

Did you guys know if it's confirmed that the Gamescom demo will be the e3 build or a new one? I really hope Sakurai will release a new build of the demo with Diddy in it so we can look at all Diddy's alts, 'cause on the site there are just 3 of them... maybe the absence of Dixie's alt is a good sign? Krystal, for example, was even revealed in Fox's trailer...

I'm pretty sure Dixie is happening, if they wanted to deconfirm her, they just would have shown the Diddy's pink alt. But they didn't.

There’s just a few of suspicious things that individually seem insignificant, but taken together suggest Dixie is going to be playable:
  • Diddy’s tail move has not been shown. Even if he still has it, it has not been shown at all.
  • Diddy’s pink alt has not been shown. Again, he may still have it, but it has not been shown off.
  • No Tropical Freeze references whatsoever.
  • Echoes with slight alterations are possible.
  • Klaptrap was shown as an AT. Dixie was not.
This may not mean anything at all, I just think it’s odd that all of these things that could potentially deconfirm her have not been shown. Almost like it’s a slight wink and hint from Sukurai.

yeah speaking of this, i find it really strange that Smash's first DK assist trophy is a Klaptrap and not an animal buddy. Since we haven't seen Diddy's FS and Dixie isn't confirmed, I wonder if animal buddies could be a part of either of their Final Smashes?

Where do I find this poll? Is this on Twitter? Because I don't have a Twitter account, so presumably I can't vote.

I don't believe we can take that as a hint of anything, really. Many attacks have not been shown and to weigh in on this one is just pointless to be honest.

I do agree with your other points, though :)

Diddy's tail attack was in his basic combo. We saw his basic combo, so yeah, we're sure that it's gone. And honestly, i think that this is the biggest hint that we have. At the moment i saw Diddy's basic combo, i was convinced about Dixie's inclusion as an echo.

No, we saw his gentleman, which was also in Smash 4. We're not sure about the tail attack.

The gentleman and the tail attack have most likely been separated. It used to auto-transition like Falcon's did in Melee and Brawl, but it's most likely been changed to be a separate input like Falcon's was in Smash 4. There is no definitive evidence that the attack is gone, and it probably isn't. Having rapid jabs and gentlemen be separate is a good idea to improve a jab's usefulness.

The evidence working most in Dixie's favor is TF's absence from Ultimate so far, as it suggests that the game will be acknowledged alongside a Dixie reveal somewhere down the line. It's generally agreed upon that completely ignoring the game would be ridiculous when the only games Nintendo has made in the last few years that have outshined it are Pokemon Gen 7, Mario Odyssey, Splatoon and BotW. The game has been released twice, and he would have to ignore it both times.

What is a "gentleman"? that's an odd term I've never heard before

A jab combo which has a single final hit that launches. It comes from Falcon's knee strike combo. Can't remember the origin of the name. Diddy's gentleman is a double chop followed by a mule kick. It used to then transition into his tail rapid jab. The mule kick now launches and stops the move, leading us to believe that you can pick the kick or the rapid and not have to perform both, like Pit, Corrin, Falcon, Robin etc.

I know this is gonna sound petty as all hell BUTTTTT if Dixie doesn't make it into this game even as an echo but freaking Daisy did of all characters I'm gonna be a little miffed...don't get me wrong I'm happy that Daisy's small but loud (like the character herself) fanbase got their character in but it would just feel wrong that one of the MAIN characters from a highly regarded Nintendo franchise and Nintendo's 2nd female heroin (behind Samus herself) got the shaft yet again...but spin-off fodder made it.

The only upside is if she doesn't appear in the base game as an assist trophy, part of Diddy's new final smash, or an echo. She has the potential to join as DLC as AT LEAST a semi-clone.

To be honest there's already been characters that got into Smash with a far less impressive resume than Dixie Kong. See: Ness, Lucas, Palutena, Dark Pit, Captain Falcon, Zero Suit Samus, most of the Fire Emblem cast, Shulk... Nothing against them of course, but it does make me wonder why Dixie is still not in.

Voted. Did this fanpage find a way to segregate IPs to avoid multiple votes like to official ballot did? Otherwise the data is going to be horribly skewed and probably not even worth looking at. One person with too much time on their hands could vote Shrek 300 times.

Otherwise I like this idea. Polls like this aren't officially authorized but they can give Sakurai some ideas as to what his fans want, assuming he sees them. Of course this is assuming Dixie isn't already in.

I've thought of a fun game we can do to veer away from Echo fighter controversy. We should all think of a gif or a picture of some kind that we enjoy that represents our excitement and hang on to it until Dixie gets revealed. Then when (staying positive) she drops, we all come here and post them.

It'll make for an entertaining spectacle for both her supporters on here and those who drop in to congratulate us, many of whom may be mourning another character. I think the positive vibes would be nice for all, and I'd also be excited to see what everyone puts up. For added effect, posting a picture of her official render alongside the image could make it even better. I have a couple old favorites in mind myself.

I've been thinking, I don't know much about game design and animation, but how technically difficult is it to animate hair? I know there's plenty of characters out there that have similar properties, like Shantae, but are there any other characters whose hair has been animated in the sort-of 3D style that Smash has? As in, allowing the player to control it to attack, perhaps grab, etc.

As long as it's treated as a single entity, it shouldn't be any more difficult than anything else. On the other hand, if you wanted each individual hair to act realistically, that would be much more difficult. I doubt there would be any need to go that way with Dixie, though.

For anyone unfamiliar with Loz18, he's leaked a lot of stuff that's turned out to be true over on the Gamefaqs forums. He recently closed his account there and made a Twitter account. Any speculation of Dixie from someone with inside knowledge is promising...

While it's nice to see her mentioned, even if it's as an echo, it's bizarre he would mention Tom Nook since he's still in Villager's final smash.

If Dixie is revealed (or Banjo & Kazooie too for that matter if a miracle happened) I can only imagine how excited Steve Mayles would be that all of his characters finally made it into Smash. That twitter page of his would be filled with fanart alongside K.Rool.

I'm not a specialist in animation, just some basic knowledge, but the biggest problem with hair in 3D is the fur, like the Kongs one in Tropical Freeze, that kind of hair consume a big bag of resources. Remember Sulley, from Monsters Inc.? His fur was the biggest technical achievement of the film, the rest of the cast was pure skin and scales. Smash don't use that fur rendering, just some textures.
It's not the case of Dixie's ponytail, which can be animated as an extra body part. Like Diddy's tail or Corrin bizarre limbs, it's not nothing special in animation. In some short, they did it with Tiny's pigtails, she can attack with her hair in N64. That way of animate hair is just an extra limb.

Talking about Diddy's gentleman... It's sure that he got it in SmashU? I tried yesterday but I couldn't, tail combo every time. I play as C. Falcon and Duck Hunt, they got the gentleman, it's a familiar move to me, but with Diddy nothing happened, the tail jab as usual. I'm pretty sure that the jab in his trailer is something new.

The jab in his trailer is his jab without the tail attack. He used to do three hits and then the rapid jab, now probably he just does three hits OR two hits plus the rapid. Aka like Duck Hunt. He's never had a proper gentleman until now, the game always forced the tail transition, we theorize that it no longer does this.

Here is a video of Diddy performing a gentleman in smash 4. However it's not like a traditional gentleman because the third hit doesn't launch. It's more like just stopping the move before the tail attack comes out. The jab combo that was shown in his ultimate trailer was totally different.

yeah you can just hold A while hitting someone for diddy to only do the first three hits and then stop after the kick. it can be risky and bad because it doesn't launch and seems like he has more lag then the opponent even.

I'm sure he'll keep the multihits with his tail, but now got a better gentleman as well. But of course we don't know for sure right now.

Yes, but this is likely the result of the moves being split in two. Think Captain Falcon. He used to do Punch-punch-knee-punch combo. Now he can do punch-punch-knee and then STOP which is good because it has knock back, or punch-punch-punch combo-finisher. The same could have very well happened to Diddy. Whether the gentleman hit looks different or not is irrelevant, the main thing is:

Just because the move no longer forces Diddy to tail attack because it doesnt launch doesn't mean the tail attack no longer exists. Does that make sense?

Regardless of the true answer to this debate, the jab finisher is incredibly anecdotal evidence and basically totally meaningless in terms of Dixie anyway. It's just a loose hypothesis for her being an echo.
