The menus even look ugly...

They put NO effort into most of the game.
For the character select, they even didn't have the varying tracks depending on your character.
Rare was KING at that.

Now that was one of the things I really missed. They didn't even keep the intro music like that and the changes for it were in fixed places.

I loved this game as a kid, way more than super mario kart because of the racing diversity.
I just remember the only way I managed to 100% the coin races (first place and coins) was to co-op mode it with my sister. One of us would do the race and get the coins while the other would get the power ups and hinder the cpus.
I just remember one epic hovercraft race where I stopped 2-3 cpus at the finish line to get first in the race.
Such a fun game and I was totally surprised they didn't make more. I'm guessing Mario Kart was just more popular and sold way better, regardless of at the time which one was the better game. DKR was incredibly well done for it's time imo.

I never heard about that. All I did to go faster was practice to find the one angle that made the car go flying and doubled my green boosts. Not all levels had such angles but on most I didn't need to time trial more than twice anyway.

I learned about the rapid A press about a year ago. When i was a kid me and my cousin would beat this game ALL THE TIME. Me and him redid it a few years ago and we got 100% story in 1 day (like 8 hours or something). With the rapid A its almost impossible to lose a race, if i use it i can easily lap all of the computers on any track.

Maybe we smoke when we first start, and then we smoke everytime we clear a boss and/or area?
I believe you can avoid homing missiles with it.

luigitoilet you should get someone to photoshop the (now extinct) archon toilet, but make all the archons luigis instead. Would be hilarious.

Anyone up for an online game? I'll be available between 4pm and 9pm GMT (1am and 6am JST if that helps) all week as I'm borrowing a computer that actually works.

Yeah. It's no fun if the computer makes it lag even offline or shuts down during most games though .

Ok, I've beaten adventure two and the optional trophy race at the end. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of an extra ending but that's not a major issue. I may be back for online games later.
