Did The Older Pokemon Games Have A Better Aesthetic "Feel" To Them?

Personally I think D/P were the best. The original pokemon (Red in my case) were fun back in the day, but if I try them again, I get bored. Gold was awesome! I really loved those three versions. Ruby/Saphire/Emerald just weren't fun.... It lost it's charm for me. Boring, imo. But I really think they got it back in D/P. The strategies became even more fleshed out, and I liked a lot of the new pokemon (Lucario omg). People do have a tendency to criticize something just because it's new. The notion "they don't make 'em like they used to" is often true, but not so with D/P.

Basically Emerald was a "dark age" imo.

Well I've never played Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond and Pearl, but I would like to try them out someday.

As for the older games, I've played them all, except Crystal which I never got, but out of Red/Blue/Yellow version I'd say Yellow version was the best as it had extras that Red and Blue didn't have such as Jesse & James, Pikachu following you around.

Out of Gold& Silver I'd have to say Silver takes the platinum, simply because it was the first of the newer games that I had played and at the time it was so addicting, and still is, though I do have to say Gold have better animations for some of the Pokemon.

I wonder if FireRed and Leaf Green are similar to Red/Blue, anyone have any idea? Don't want to be spoiled though.
I played parts of someone else's R/B/Y, and I enjoyed them, but my favourite has to be Leaf Green.
It is similar to the original games, but has a couple of nice new features that make it better than the original in my opinion.
The main gameplay and storyline is unchanged I think, but there are a LOT more sidequests and added parts.
It's a shame they didn't make a 3rd game like Y/C/E/P.

Platinum is so far the best 4th Gen and possibly 4th over all. But its 1st to me.
EL OH EL

They remade the gym leader positions, so Fatina is now 3rd and Malyene is 4th and Wake is 5th(you can't battle wake until you reach Veilstone) Pearl has the highest level Pokemon i have ever seen. His starters go up to level Level 85. That's 4 level's higher than Red's Pikachu 81. Also the elite 4's pokemon got changed. You know like Flint getting fire types for once.

Seriously there's still alot of stuff to do in Platinum after you beat Cynthia. The Match place tests you mettle with Gym Leader AND with your ex tag team partners.

Plus this has gotta be the most intriguing sprite.

Proof Aura exists in the games?

Here's my favorite

Yeah. RBY/GCS had a better feel to them. They didn't feel like a chore to play, and hunt down Pokemon.

The pokemon were original, and they used all the classic ideas they could come up with.

Then, I felt the graphics, despite being better, in later generations, turned me off. I dont know why...I dont...but they did.

Oh well.

Long live RBY and GSC!

I've always felt Gold, Silver and Crystal were the best generation imo.
I guess it depends. I like a good adventure, but inputting too many new features turns many people off about 4th Gen.

I'm not gonna catch 3 Burmy to get a Macho Brace. Just not gonna do it.

After red and blue original games, the series went all down hill gameplay-wise. Of course, I still play blue on car trips and such...it alone is better than the psp. =D

I wish they would just announce the freaken release date for pokemon platinum in America already... Early 2009 isn't good enough!

on topic - gold/silver/crystal were just too good. It sucks that they made all of your work pointless by not being able to transfer your pokemon from g/s/c to ruby and saphire. C'mon remake!

2nd generation was great. I really liked the fact that you got to revisit kanto.

I also have to agree that the new pokemon are becoming less creative and not as fresh as before.

RBY definitely had the "freshest" feel to it, since it was brand new

GSC, being the first expansion, was definitely the coolest and satisfied pretty much everyone, except those retro lovers who said "there's just too many to memorize" who really aren't pokemon fans anyway

the rest of the generations were good, but just annoyed people more... they tried to be innovative, but they were just prolonged stories and stuff, didn't really change the game of pokemon

after gsc it kinda just got dry. not that i don't like the next generations, i think they are awesome :)
