@Ryker - Regarding hydras, they generally have trouble functioning when in different countries because of the timezones.

I know I'm randomly dredging up old stuff again, but I like commenting on metagames.

While doing research on a shall not be named topic, I ran into Ryker's field thread and it got me thinking about the differences between us and mafiascum.

My general conclusion is that we have a much stronger average player level due to a core pool of upper level mafia players. That said, our top level play is weaker then their top level play, and a large part of this is due to a much smaller talent pool.

That said, I do think part of it is a raw metagame difference, while I think our top level scum is a match for our top level scum, our top level town play, I just don't think it's really close to their equal.

So throwing it out there.

Adum are you honestly suggesting there is a person on this planet who can scum as well as I can?

Please.

Re-think.
Sup mang.

Seriously, there are some incredible scum players over there, even if there's no individual whose a match for you, there's a fair number who I know of that come close.

Mafiascum's best player are ridiculous outliers, much more so than ours. The usual players that i've seen there are usually pants-on-head ********.

Oh, and it took them 50 games to figure out follow the cop

Most MafiaScum players are inherently bad and top-tier players are way too hit and miss.

The majority of MS games that I've seen are either game that primarily use "cold hard logic" and AtE filled messes. It's like there's no inbetween.

Their logic is good in their own playground but no MafiaScum player could ever handle a game over here as the meta just isn't the same and we don't play by the same rules, what is a scumtell to MafiaScum could be considered not one here, and vice versa.

This is why Reyth and Smargaret never stuck around.

Well you guys are pretty much getting at the point I'm making. Yes the vast majority of mafiascum players are bad, I said that. When you're dealing with a large community, your community as a whole will end up creating a bell curve of skill levels.

We lucked out because of an incredibly good core group of players that drove the skill level WAY up, our community is an outlier in that sense.

At the same time, larger skill pools, higher chance of having somebody better.

Adum do you have some examples of the top players?
Players like mith or glork are easy examples. Oh god glork.

Edit: Ramen king, I seem to remember reading that you were a mafiascum player as well.

Come to think of it, aside from here, XKCD*, and MS, has anyone found any other communities?

I found one on this website called conquer club, which I remember for almost every game being like an OS game.

*I joined a game here, and replaced out after D1, where they spent the entire day role speculating, and then lynched a person off of it. Ugh.

A site of sites do, and take it seriously to greater or lesser degrees.

The paradox forums has a werewolf club for example and I remember running into a ton of others that I can't remember

We're the only good community I've found though.

> Adum says I'm the best scum player on the planet

> Still feel empty inside

Actually I said you're possibly the best scum player.

Also, duo queueing with me will make you feel less empty.

Seriously, up for playing normals on a regular basis? I definitely could use the practice and premades allow me to get my precious top lane.

Well, Reyth anyway. Smargy got smarmy when Ryker called her "babe" and apparently that offended her so much she just peaced out.

I'm not making this up.

AiB had a community but everyone who was anyone came here at one point or another outside of Dacidbro.

There was this one place that one of our members went to called BoardGameGeeks but that was a bit ridiculous from the way he described it. I think nsider2 has a community but it's not very good from what I can tell (if any of you have met Third_Koop, that's where he's from). Outside of that, there really isn't a lot and most of these groups are significantly underdeveloped in terms of metagames or quality players.

Exactly. A lot of these communities are bad, almost to the point where I'd want to say we should [REDACTED] them instead of [ALSOREDACTED], but I don't think nearly anyone would be down for that.

The Pokemon community has a thriving mafia community. It's mostly badly-designed-Overswarm-esque games though.
That actually seems to be pretty common on other sites.

Probably because I haven't seen another site that has setup review be mandatory.

Most sites don't have that ****, no. A lot of people just have free reign. AiB actually did have some metric of a review but certain people could just get away with hosting their **** without review (I was one of them).

Honestly, I'd love to visit MafiaScum with a team sometime. Instead of calling it a "raid", I just want to see their better players and see how they play, maybe get something out of it.

We should contact them and try to arrange some games containing a team of dGamers and a team of good MS players.

Peaceful, respectful. No raids, no shaking up the metagame. Just friendly matches.

I guess some players from DGames using their traditional style would effectively "shake up the meta" without even trying, but yeah, regardless, that's the way to do it. Calling it a raid puts the wrong light on the idea from the get go.

I wouldn't mind that at all to be honest. It'd definitely be a much friendlier means of establishing that connection than calling it a raid. Anyone with an account there wanna reach out to some of the regulars for us?

EpicMafia Raided MafiaScum once.

It was the worst raid i've ever seen.

I participated.

The community on the forums is quite possibly the worst community I've ever seen, they make 4chan seem tame sometimes.

Basically what happened -

  • EpicMafia forum goons were talking about how superior they are to MafiaScum and how forum mafia is inherently terrible because it's too 'slow-paced.'
  • EpicMafia forum goons decide to raid MafiaScum and troll one of their games, some actually played legitimately but once someone got word they were from EpicMafia they continued to Policy Lynch on a player, the other goons had a hissyfit and **** went downhill.
  • One forum goon was Modkilled, and game was then shutdown.

The End.

I would call EM the *** of mafia, but that's being far too tame.

Rather, it is like if the feces of mafia was horribly mutated to become animate, the feces began to **** mafia, and the aborted fetus that is their offspring is epicmafia.
