Hey dudes. Just wanted to get on here and apologize for going full rage bananas on the Discord yesterday and for snapping at Osie who very likely did not deserve it. I snapped because I am just not a fan of policing and forum moderation on message boards anymore…yes I understand why it is done and I’m not going to pretend like I wasn’t a mod for an entire year on this message board. Yes, I know there is severe irony in this, it is what it is. I don’t use message boards for that reason anymore. I'm making this rare exception because I feel like it's something I should do; basically I woke up this morning feeling regretful, sort of like waking up to a girl laying next to you that you were trying to avoid, but one mistake lead to another and now you're feeling regretful as you try to shimmy your way out of bed and out the door.

Anyway try to find me in a year if you want…or don’t. Ciao for now.

#HBC | ZoZo #HBC | ZoZo feel better dude, I know the feeling and whenever I get like that I just try to remember my life plan and why it is I work. There's always other opportunities out there too if you feel like exploring, the world is a big place. <3

Ok so updated skin tier list after actually using each for a while. Judgment is based on aesthetic appeal, usability (is text easily viewable, etc.), and harmony (how well the scheme meshes with user content such as avatars and swagged out OPs).

[S-tier]

Project M
I'm sorry Malachite, but this is simply a beauty, and whoever designed it deserves praise. The translucent post boxes and color scheme give it a futuristic and clean feel. The color scheme is also restrained so it doesn't intrude on user content. There are some downsides, however. It does not look the greatest on some mobile devices such as tablets, particularly because you lose the dynamic overlay of the content onto the backdrop. Another thing is the screen sometimes goes white when transitioning between pages which can be bothersome. Overall though the futuristic look and clean design make this skin worthy of the top.

[A-tier]

Smashboards Malachite, Smashboards Classic, Smashboards Sapphire
These are all variations of the same theme; different shades of black and gray as the background for content, a static backdrop of the smash characters to the side, and interactive content in either green, orange, or blue respectively. I like all of these and would say that which color is most appealing comes down to personal preference. I personally like Malachite the best because it meshes well with the online indicator, but switching to classic or sapphire is a refreshing change of scenery.

[B-tier]

Smashboards Ruby, Smashboards Amethyst
These have the same design theme as the A-tier skins; however, the color schemes are a bit jarring. Although red is one of my favorite colors, when used excessively, it's overbearing. The purple color is difficult to read and strains the eyes.

[C-tier]

Smashboards Dark Pink, Smashboards Cobalt, Smashboards Garnet, Smashboards Sugilite, Smashboards Emerald
These have the same theme as the previous two tiers, only the backdrop of smash characters is grayscale instead of colored in. This isn't a huge negative, but it is sort of strange on the eyes. Ironically it causes me to focus on the background when scrolling, which I would imagine is contrary to the intent. Nevertheless, each of these themes is usable, and I personally find Dark Pink pleasing. Garnet and Sugilite use a different shade of red and purple that are not as overbearing as in Ruby and Amethyst.

[D-tier]

Smashboards Onyx
This skin takes the grayscale further and makes interactive text grayscale as well. It induces unease and the sensation of colorblindness.

[F-tier]

Smashboards Lite
This is the classic background except with a white content background and a white haze over the backdrop of smash characters. As with classic, the interactive text is orange but is now difficult to view due to being on top of a white background. I don't quite know why anyone would use this. It's incredibly bright and so strains the eyes, the site text is difficult to see, and it's hit or miss whether color-personalized user text is viewable.

Interesting, I ended up choosing Emerald over Malachite precisely because I found the grayscale background less distracting than the colourful one. I'd actually prefer to have no background image at all, because an image in the background just makes websites look more cluttered at best. That's probably a matter of taste (I happen to like sleek, simplistic design), but quite often the image actually makes the website harder to read, which is exactly why Project M deserves no praise. Sure, it looks nice until you actually try to read the bluish text on a background with all the shades of blue and then you switch over to something with enough sense to have a plain background behind the text.

To be fair, I'm certainly not being objective. I have a bias against grayscale for things that I expect to be otherwise because it causes my brain to focus on the discrepancy. However, something I think we should both consider is adaptation. I do recall finding the normal backdrop overwhelming when it was added, but I quickly adapted and it's not at something I notice anymore. I imagine that if I used the grayscale backdrop for a while, I'd also adapt. Similarly, I did find the text in the Project M skin to be hard to distinguish at first, but after a day of using it I adapted and it's not a problem, even still when I switch to another skin for a while and return to it.

Well of course, aesthetics are mostly a matter of personal opinion (which is why taking it ridiculously seriously is so much fun). Some objective judgement can be made, but everyone gets to pick what they like regardless of that. Adaptation is probably a factor, this gray look is quite similar to what I have Discord set to. I could probably adapt to the mild inconvenience of reading Project M and otherwise it does look quite nice, but I'm not going to put in the effort just for the nice looks.

Bardull, you know I always want you back here and the discord. Don't worry about it, I agree with and understand your side.

Chaco, sup bro, welcome back. Glad to see you joining a game.

I'm still good with the skin that can make others think i'm on porn hub.

They released a trailer for The World Ends With You anime today and it looks so sick. Cannot wait to see this.

Has anyone else here played the game Among Us? I've been playing it with some of my irl friends with mafia experience and its been a blast, would be fun to play with the Dgames crew in discord or something

I actually have been, it’s especially fun playing irl without typing and talking instead during the discussion times. I actually bought the Polus map before it became free for everyone, but I’ve had great experiences with it nonetheless. There are some broken strategies, sure, but I’d play it in a group if there was enough interest

yeah I think the game is essentially unplayable without voice comms, its way too difficult to have a meaningful discussion with such little discussion time and the general clutter of the in game chat interface. I really like how you can adjust the in game settings to rebalance things if you feel certain strategies are overcentralizing

Would it be too difficult to gather 16 people for a mafia game nowadays? I'm thinking in hosting OS' Final Fantasy IV at some point

it'd be difficult but maybe not impossible. osieorb just got a 16 man game going so maybe osieorb18 osieorb18 can weigh in?

was final fantasy 4 setup role madness?

Will you ever do something akin your HxH setup again? That was one of the most creative and fun games I've played.
Tbh I've nothing in mind atm; I like flavor, crazy PRs, and special mechanics that give mafia games some refreshing twists. I thought at some point about a Rurouni Kenshin flavor, but as I said I would pretty much need to create something from scratch

OS' FFIV is pretty crazy though: great flavor, lots of PRs, plus a special mechanic regarding crystals. It's definitely a must-play : P
