Well, in about a 2 weeks I'll be on a plane to Washington to participate in my last Melee tournament. These special Holiday Matches are also my last bits of training before I fly up.
I wanted to share them with all of you.

This was a real treat. Playing with the "Wahiawa Brothers" Zaukkien and AnubisGX. They've been playing smash for a long long time. Sadly they are more or less retired from Melee and are waiting for Brawl. But it was a pleasure playing with them again.

Location Waipahu 1/6/2008

Waipahu is a city with lots of Hawaii Smash history. Back before anybody was playing, these guys were. People like Rob, and MellowD have been playing this game long before I even owned a Gamecube. True pioneers in Hawaiian Smash. They spread their knowledge and tech skill to everyone in their area and now they are still the largest active city in Hawaii today. I've learned so much from all of them. Especially Rob. He is an extremely talented player.

Why last, DM?

Because after this tournament in January I won't have time to fly up to Mainland Tournaments like Pound 3 etc. I was very lucky that I am still on break to participate in Dan 2. Once Brawl comes out in Feb. I will most likely focus only on that.

I'm sad to say that Melee is more or less dead in Hawaii. It's so hard to find people that want to play and it's usually only about 2-3 people at a time. We don't have large 15-20 people fests like we used to. And there are no stores or people willing to put down the money to make competitive tournaments. Since there's such a large skill gap between the top 5 and everyone else, nobody wants to risk their money. The will to improve is also lacking.

But I will continue playing until Brawl. And I will say IF Brawl (knock on wood) does not live up to it's expectations. Then I will keep playing melee. But I really do believe that Brawl will be a great game.

Aww. That's so sad about Hawaii. I'd be willing to pay to have you kick my *** any time. Well, maybe not now (saving up for Wii and Brawl).

I can't wait to see you own with Brawl's buffed up Zelda, though.

Wow, I envy your Zelda greatly. Your mind games are sick and you're really good at punishing missed attacks. One of the best I've seen. I loved the Farore's Wind usage, I couldn't tell if it was more interesting to watch where you went or how your opponent tried to anticipate it.
