I did the math for you pepole. Round trip on train is 13.50. Cab from station is no more than $10 bucks so most you should bring for travel is 23.50 or $24 then venue fee is 10. and ether singles or doubles is ten. so thats 44 you seen and your good to go. extra cash is for food. but 44 bucks is what you will need to travel and to enter at least one thing

Bringing $44 for everything for a tourney isn't that much I don't understand the complaints.
Just for Zeniths or Gauntlet I usually end up spending about $50 - $60. I even managed to get to VLS without a car come one use your heads people.

Zenith is a major NYC tourney and VLS was a major national tourney.

There is clearly a difference espcially between this and VLS I spent about ... say.. i guess about 70-80 dollars for VLS which to me was good because I was able to meet some of the best players from around the nation and play in a two day event.

I'm not bashing this tourney in no way but this tournament isn't on the level of a zenith or VLS I'm pretty sure Dark pch didn't intend it to but there is no way I can spend over 30 bucks for one weekend out of the blue like that .

I only posted to keep my friends updated because ummm my friends were gonna go X_X.

So for all you NYC Smasher the LONG Island smash community is going in large numbers so if u guys wanna show what NYC has to offer u best be comming....and just so u know we have the place for the whole day 9am-9pm so for a 10 buck venue fee u can play all fv***kin day

You and I are in different financial situations .

Anyway i still might go i dunno *shrugs* Im not willing to spend that much but maybe ill go if i know ill win or sumthin maybe >.<.

Not to be a **** but Tec0 is right. I know Snakee doesnt understand because he just started but alot of smashers that I know and that we all know do not like to spend more money then they should. In the end its about the cost = exp. For a local tournament rare is it to see out of staters ( in rare occassions its those super noobish moronic out of staters that dont know how to read smashboards for tournies in their area).

In any case smashers like to get bang for their buck just like anyone else in life when they have to spend money. Add this with the fact that most are High School - College Kids doesnt help either. Oh and do not forget most of them CANT DRIVE so they have to spend more on transportation then just 5-10 bucks on gas and time to get their. Its a real give and take situation.

Either way I am coming cause Dark Peach is my friend. I think people should come by if they can afford it just to check it out.

Think of it this way folks...I created Zenith and Weeklies...when am I ever wrong ...J/K

Realize this...money does not mean that much to middle level players...just the EXP. My first tournament I ever ran I threw 600 bucks for a 24 man tournament. This was when w2z was **** and I had no rep. Big tournaments take time to build and thats how it will always be. Its about who you know and how reputable you are. Thats just one aspect of it. I mean for me I never cared and just built myself up. You guys realize how this works and you will have good turn outs. Either way I want you and Snakee to im me cause I have a lot of questions I would prefer not to ask on this thread

Money this and that.........So freaking what. Yo here L.I crying about it when they come down here for a fee weeklies at times and mostly Zenith. Look at Cort and PC. They are hardly In N.Y but decided for this one time to go to it.[ And weeklies in N.Y were dieing too and are not as big as the Zenith and VLS. Yest cort traveled here just to play and have a good time.

I think i'm more maned up then most of the smash players around here for tournements. How I want to go tothe Zenith and the tournament in CT on the 29th of this month. You hear me crying about money? No. And I dont have a job at that so consider yourselfs 4-stocks.I'll save, work out a plan and go to mines, Zenith and CT. that simple. All because tournaments are not so Big its a waste of cash to go to it. thats insane. a tournament is a tournament. cased close. so I guess L.I are dummies for the times they wasted cahs coming down here for weeklies which are not even that serious or big. Now I'm glad I have this in L.I. they need and derserve this. I think i rather waste my time up there then in this city.

Zenith were built on the reputation of Myself, Ace Marth and KF. Just think about that and realize why they were good tournies

- Well ran
- Fun times
- Massive Hype ( when i was there lol ...j/k)
- Good Presentation and setup.


Thats what makes tournaments good or bad. Not $ or anything.


Beyond that understand that people that live 40-60 mins away like to get a good time and not travel all the way down for nothing. Just some advice I would post more but I dont feel like explaining or defending the reasons Tec0's and others have for not being able to come

I wasn't posting for you dpch i was posting mostly for jesus and some of the other swat guys and TSA NY I really wasn't even complaining I just felt like I should give a reason to them.

I was simply surprised about the price you told me i needed.

Dark peach let me shine on the most obvious of things.

PC and Cort went to the NYC weekly thats def true. But i mean.. why wouldn't they? They practically win money I don't want to make it sound like PC and Cort are only there for money cuz they aren't they are great people and love to have fun. However even though they spent a lot to get there but the fact is they are amazing players they know AT WORST PC and Cort will win teams and PC will win singles and maybe Cort gets like uhh 3rd 4th?

I don't know their financial situation but I know if that is me I would ALWAYS go to ANY tournament no matter WHAT the price lol.

Also about you going to tournies and not having a job is absolutely irrelevant you can go to stuff so what? You apparently plan out very well than but for me I end up spending money because I have to spend money at school for food.

LI people go because its close if I was in LI I would have auto went as well. And Cort probably went to PC's house to play and went to the tournament because why not at the moment?

Please don't make it sound like because you don't have a job and you specifically save up that all of us should be able to go by saving money. For giant tournies I save up well in advance and borrow money practically all the time.

Whether you have a job or not my situation is apparently worse than yours since you can afford to go to all these tournies remember idc about your tournament that much im posting for my friends. Because in the end your right some people will go and others won't that is none of my concern. If Swat and HBK and other TSA guys didn't say anything I wouldn't have posted and just not went I just want to inform my friends who also want to go.

10 is reasonable i dont know how many tournaments you went to with venue fees but I ran fighting game tournaments with 10 buck venue fees and got over 100 each time

Yes. I seriously thought I made this clear. Look at the first post again. The venue fee is going to charity. its been said many times already. Why you think I made singles 10 bucks. If not it be 20. Ether way your gonna spend 20 to sdo a tourny. read and pay attention more.

I might not be able to enter anything. I remembered that I get paid on the 8th..........the day of this tourny and my check does not usually come it till afternoon time sometimes a day or 2 later. I'm trying to pull a magic trick and see how I can do this. if not then I'll be there To run this and the freindlies. I'm not quite over my nervous phobia when I play people. so it might be best for me, even in my own tournament.
