bleh..i've been doing DDR for 2 years now.
Hardest songs i've beaten are Max 300 and Legend of Max (both D's, and passed them by shere luck)

I usually just mess around w/ level 9s on all my quarters and make B's normally or A's on my favorite songs(TripMachine:Climax, FrozenRay, Stoic)
I actually prefer freestyling w/ ackward and funny steps than just tryiing to be merely the fastest. I try to get creative w/ my steps and am locally famous for standing on one foot and sliding backwards to hit another arrow. I try to do this throughout entire songs in a moonwalk-esque way.

The first, and only DDR i've ever owned was Mario DDR...but i never used the pad..so it was pretty easy to get all As on all SuperHards w/ mushmode on and off.

True-DDR wise, i suppose my better accomplishments is beating Stoic w/ 1 miss. I'm still trying to full combo it...it usually takes a good day for me to squeeze by w/ 3 misses. But i really don't care that much, cuz i'm a sexy beast on Frozen Ray, anyway.
Actually, they got a good bit of good players in my city. The best guy, i think, mananged to pull a B on paranoia survivor max challenge. He always As and double As the usual 9s at our arcade.

I'm quite good at DDR. I started about a year ago; good stuff. Eh, biggest accomplishment? Well, I AAA'ed my first song a couple weeks ago: Hero (Happy Grandale Mix). I was so proud <3

ITG2 is something new and exciting. DDR Extreme just gets too depressing at times because it's so played out. I'm hoping Roxor keeps releasing ITG versions for the American audience. I'm sure Kevin would agree with me.

Yeah... I've only played DDR a year and I can honestly say I'm already bored with the same old songs. It's got to the stage where I'll at least A anything that's a 9 or under first go, if not AA it. I'm going for my first AAA on Heavy but in all honesty it's just too frustrating, though I am sure it'll happen if I keep trying A on Heavy. It's annoying when you get that one great...

They have released new-ish arcade mixes over here, but Dancing Stage Fusion really is a pile of tripe. I just don't like the interface and they lopped off so many good songs also. I usually play on a Euromix2 or DSF and I feel it's a shame that there are no Extreme mixes about this area. I originally started playing on a 6th mix with memory card slots though (Flash in the Night = Awesome), and many people would consider me very lucky for doing so, since those machines in Britain to my knowledge are far less common than Extremes. When I was in America I even got the stunned response of "6th mix? WHERE?!" when I was asked what version I usually play on after I went insane over an Extreme machine I saw. Nearly every machine I saw in America was an Extreme... Since my favourite song, A, was Extreme exclusive at the time (it isn't anymore, it's on DSF too), you can imagine how happy I was to finally play it!

Most of the mixes round here either lack ten foot songs completely or have really bad ten footers (and only that one ten footer on that machine too). As a result I moved to ITG, which is about 50 miles away but easy to get to. I wouldn't necessarily say the songs by sound are better (anything by Inspector K rules though), but the songs to play are so much better. It really was like a new lease of life in dancegames, and I haven't even been playing that long compared to some. There's also more opportunity to start to freestyle due to the more responsive pads and forced threes and fours, which is what I've started doing now that there are only two tens I can play on DDR (Max300 and Paranoia Survivor).

To my knowledge there's only one ITG2 anywhere near me in Britain, and it's in London. I get the feeling we're going to be very slow getting anything over here and especially in the southwest where I am, though compared to us with DDR Extremes we did get that ITG2 pretty quickly. Sadly I am 200 miles from London and rely on public transport to get about, so as you can imagine I don't go very often! The simple fact is we lack players in this part of the country, and as a result I doubt we'll get much here. Looks like I'm going to be going to London if I want to play on an ITG2!

Still... Whatever happens, at least there are still machines round here, and even if there are mixes I prefer, at least I can still play without having to go too far. Can't complain about that.

Nice, 6th mix is cool, but has such a small amount of songs. I personally love nearly all of the DDRMAX songs; however, because the machine has so few songs, it really gets boring. It's still nice to play on it every now and then, though.

Do you play at home? Use Stepmania? That might alleviate your boredom a little.

I've got Stepmania, but despite me having a USB-PS2 converter my metal mat is broken and has been ever since the first use as the connector fell inside it, so I make do with the keyboard. Keyboard's not bad though, certainly helps my game when I'm going for new ten footers and above or just trying to improve my Perfect ratio. I also have Dancing Stage Mario Mix, but that's a bit on the easy side even with a soft mat (bear in mind I'm an arcade player and have been since I started playing and only recently got this home version, so me and soft mats don't mix too well. :p). I need to look into getting a good solid mat and finding room for it by the PC. That'd rock.

True... DDRMAX lacks songs, but they're all good. DDRMAX also has a really good number of catas for how many songs are on that mix, and Max300 just plain rocks. My first ever cata pass and cata pass at A grade was actually on Healing Vision Angelic Mix... When I played Paranoia KCET after that on a different machine I was seriously left wondering how the heck they were both nines. Having only played on DDRMAX before that point I didn't realise most of the nines on it are towards the harder end for their difficulty, and I think that can be said of a lot of songs on that mix. So yeah, not many songs sadly, but rather challenging ones out of the ones that are present. It's a shame Flash in the Night isn't on any other mix... I know it's probably due to licensing of songs and all that, but still... The start and end of that song is insane. Great fun!

Pump is better, it's harder to learn... but it's well worth those few hours of failing.

I personally can't stand ITG. It's basically made just for the sole purpose of being harder than DDR, with no emphasis put on the music. The songs are all low-quality progressive tracks (and I was really disappointed to see that one of the few good songs, Walking On Fire, was ripped off without giving proper credit to Blank And Jones for their excellent remix). And Foy boy sucks at making steps. If anybody has been into the stepmania/dwi scene for a while, you'd know that back in the day, people would go crazy with notes, making really hard notes to songs that weren't really even danceable (BeMaNiRuLeR is a great example). Then all of a sudden people realized "hey, this isn't fun to do on a pad at all", and they stopped. And now ITG is making money doing that exact same thing :(

I'm not trying to be a ddr fanboy by saying that, cause I see exactly why people consider Extreme to be boring now that it's been out for so long... but I find the music selection to be a lot more fitting. It's just more fun to jump around like a moron to cheesey euro :chuckle:

and on the topic of DDRMAX, I liked it because there were no repeat songs.

Actually, I'm mad because ITG makes notes to songs that
a) aren't dance songs
b) don't even merit the ridiculous notes they are given

For example, Euphoria. They make what, 32nd notes that go to buzzing noises? What is even the point of that? I'd probably be able to pass that if I bar-***** the whole thing but I was playing at home and I literally ripped my softpad open trying to play that. And frankly I don't consider non-stop bar ****** on a crappy song to be fun :)

Euphoria is an awesome song... and if you have not noticed already (I'm guessing you have) but the steps go with the beat nearly perfectly. They can't make everything easy... wasn't that the whole point of ITG? To do things that DDR did not...? I think so...

And who are you... I bet I know you.

If I wanted to hit a button for every single note or beat in the song, I'd spare my legs and play IIDX :)
and I know that's the point of ITG, but in my personal, trying-not-to-be-trolling opinion, that's the exact reason I don't like it *shrug*

also, I'm BlackDth on ddrfreak

I admit that song songs in ITG1 were out of sync, but they fixed them somewhat for ITG2, as far as I know. The insanely hard songs seem impossible for me, I can't do anything above an 11 just yet. I probably won't do either as I'd imagine that difficulty goes beyond fun. The ten footers of DDR/ITG are enough for me... But I've got the option of harder songs if I want to do so, no? I just like freestyling on an ITG. More responsive pads and forced threes and fours have really helped me start to get into freestyling a lot.

As for the sound of songs on ITG? Not all of them are complete rubbish, though most of them are if you compare them to the classics of DDR for quantity. I like more DDR songs overall but the ITG ones that are decent are very good. Anything by Inspector K rocks in my book.

Yea I'll admit, I really like Oasis, Walking on Fire, and July (the "euro" remix from itg2). There are a couple others I like but I can't think of them off the top of my head.

Haha I'm the same way. I have 5 greats on So Deep, Nine on rhythm and police (I got 6 later but no picture :\ ), 6 on Be Lovin, 8 on Saint Goes Marching, 6 on Waka Laka... but no AAA's even on Light (and I've tried) :(

Last night I randomly tried Demon Road Doubles on a Max2 by me, and I got destroyed by Stay because it was the first time I had ever played it on doubles heavy. I had over 1,000 combo though :D I'm gonna try to FC that up to MaxX, cause I know I can FC Tsugaru and HVAM.

nice dude. so far my highest combo was on the parinoia brothers. i got a 1600 combo. i full comboed all the way up to the final song, and then just was to tired, lost the combo. and then ended up not even beating it. but i'll never be able to do that again, that was back when i was really good. i dont play enough now, and i'm loosing all my stamina and stuff. really pissin me off

On doubles? Yea, the old paranoia brothers is draining. I tried it on that Max2 and I RANDOMLY broke my combo in Clean, which is like the easiest one. I was pissed cause I FC'ed the rest. IIRC my percent was 95.4%, which is pretty good for doubles (usually my PA sucks, I can only AA like 1/2 heavy doubles songs)

I lost a lot of my stamina too, cause I didn't play for about 3 months. Gained a couple pounds over winter and such. Your physical progress is part of the fun too I guess.

Since the last time I posted, now I can do Can't Stop Fallin' In Love (Speed Mix) without much trouble. It still tires me, but not extremely.

I sight-read an A for Max300 standard.

I can A Sakura heavy.

I got an A on A challenge.

Legend of Max is a pain an the ***. I did however get down below 100 boos. I think it's just a couple more months before I get a D on it =D

I passed both Tsugarus, uh, Butterfly challenge, Speed over Beethoven heavy, uhh... and others.

On my DDR Extreme 1 (PS2) game, I have at least an A on everything except:
- Paranoia Eternal heavy (got a B),
- Legend of Max (an E, naturally),
- Trip Machine Surviver (B, I think),
- V challenge (B),
- and various Beginner songs that I really don't bother working on.

I got Only You down to 4 greats. It's a pain in the ***. I can't seem to get a AAA except for that ONE lucky time ever. How do you get a AAA on such an easy song as Only You?

Sheesh man nice IIDX scores. AAA on 5.1.1. and Take It Easy [a] are awesome... I'm not good enough at timing yet to AAA stuff. And heck, I can't even pass Take It Easy or 5.1.1. [a] yet. I've passed a few 8+ -- B4U, Memories, G2 (probably the only one you could call tough) and some others, but I can't think because I haven't played in several months. Do you play one-handed?
and good luck with OML : ( I watched the LISU 1 hand OML video, god that's scary

Yeah G2 is pretty stupid stuff. Frankly I think my best scores are the two songs I'm #1 on (Paranoia MAX and Think of Me 7k), R10k another AAA, 100+ ex over the AAA on High another, R5 another AAA, and probably my Rottel-da-sun another and Rottel the Mercury another AAAs. I play with two hands. I can only pass like 5s with one hand. On BM The Final (5k) arcade I can do some 7s with one hand but two handed there's only three songs I haven't beaten on it.

Wow, R5 and R10K [a] are pretty terrible. I always thought I was the **** for being able to FC both of those on 7k, haha. I'd have to say my best score, EX wise, would be 1396 on a AA full combo on Flowtation 7k that didn't have any mash bad/poors. Obviously doesn't compare but I was proud

and oh man yeah, BM The Final is awesome. I play it a lot, so I'm improving my 5k game even though I haven't played IIDX in forever. I have some vids of me doing a couple 7's one handed http://thunderinparadise.net/ssx/loved.WMV (Love D Rive Hard)
http://thunderinparadise.net/ssx/theleast.WMV (The Least 100 Seconds Hard)

I'm a lot better than that now, but I still think they're cool to watch. My timing on the least sucked but it's rough to do that on one hand. Also Love D Rive border bonus  I can do that on [a] one handed now. I can now do a few 9's one handed, like Shox, Something Special, and Hell Scaper [a]. I don't think I'll ever be able to do crap like Be Lovin' [a] or Jet World [a] though, 1 hand or 2 :(

Can you get past Expert+?? When I have a friend scratching, I can get up to 321 Stars and then I get *****.

aaaand this thread has been totally derailed. Maybe we should make a Beatmania thread.

I don't play at home so I don't know what my Endless mode combo would be, but I got over 3100 on Demon Road

That was at the beginning of MaxX. I obviously can't take a picture while I'm playing MaxX  but I lost it sometime over 3100.

I am sure those who post on DDRFreak know about DDR Supernova?
It looks pretty awesome and should revive the interest in DDR again.

I have seen the ending screen for expert+ but it was because and friend of mine who I was visiting accidentally put it on double instead of versus so we played through anyway. On mirror I can get up to halfway through 321 stars but on random I've gotten to the end of it and failed there.

that's a good idea, I should try random

Last night on a Max2 I passed Max300 and MaxX Unlimited Heavy doubles without the bars : ) I can probably FC Max (I can aa/fc with bar) but MaxX I'd have to practice more.

oh yes

http://thunderinparadise.net/ssx/maxnobaraa.wmv

I tried to FC max300 doubles heavy no bar 4 times last night, the first 3 breaking my combo at the very end stream. So on the 4th time I tried it, I got a good in like the first 5 notes, which sucked. But I kept on playing.. and I got 3 goods in the 5 notes after the freeze. But I combo'ed the ending and got 56 greats for a AA. I was sooo freakin happy. And then my friend D33K tried playing Doubles on his hands, which is a hilarious video. Didn't upload it yet though.
