I assumed that's how they would do it in the first place, but I just don't like the big picture. I like the small, spacious stock icons. ..but either way, I'm sure it will only be disliked for a few minutes/days anyway. *shrug*

i guess the color of the numbers are going to slowly change form white to red with damage... i don't know maybe the stock number won't ever be shown and u might have to keep up with it yourself? even through that sounds kind of mean...

i would laugh if they did something like the worse health you have, your character in his picture looks very tired and hurt. and when they get hit, they do a little *ouch* face lol

If you watch my second URL, You can see how Link talks to Tingle to handle his lightwork...Gaebora Kaepora. It is humorous...watch the second first then the first one...you'll like it.

The new damage meters looks cool, but they're just too fancy. The gameplay is designed to be a simple and playable as possible, and the simplistic damage counters always followed suit. This is a minor complaint though, as they do look entirely rockin'.

My other complaint is that I'm getting rather tired of that character art. It's cool and all, but having the same character art we've been looking at for months on the screen the entire time is generally underwhelming.

OR...a Lost Child could have been experimenting with water and burned down the forest...probably the trees though. By the way, I know it was a great discovery to figure out it might be a tree.

Where that boomerang came from
I don't like them, personally. They look like they could obstruct combat - Especially on those stages where the camera zooms out really far (there must be a couple Hyrule Castles or Pokefloats, right?). Then again, they could be much more than mere damage meters: As well as metering out your damage, they will probably also display your profile name at the bottom: And further, they may well allow custom icons for your online avatar... Ok, maybe that's a little optimistic, but it's possible.

Im sure theyve fixed the meters so that we dont have to relive a 4 man free for all on Hyrule Temple where when two combatatants where on top and 2 on bottom, the bottom two were completley obstructed.

I like the idea of having the character pics down the bottom, just to help noobs remember who there playing as :p

Also, is it just me or does the sun in the morning on battlefeild look like a random purple orb?
You know, that's the exact same thing I thought, except rather than help "noobs" or "people who suck at game," it could just help newer people find out where their damage is. It really isn't significant, but it doesn't look bad and would help newcomers I guess.

Or (and I've said it before and I'll say it again) when online those images will be replaced with Miis.

Wow, quick to the personal attacks. Internets sure is serious business.

It's not only my idea, it was mentioned earlier in the thread as well by someone else, and I'm sure others have come to this conclusion on their own as well. I merely provided an illustration of my theory.

I don't see the purpose of a character portrait on it's own, but as a placeholder for when a user isn't playing their Mii profile to track their wins, losses, etcetera, then it makes sense.

I wouldn't immediately put down and throw aside your theories on anything, and I don't even know you. So let's chill a little and explain why exactly you think it's a stupid idea.

Do you dislike the portraits in general? Would tracking stats linked to a Mii online be a bad idea? It's being used in Mario Strikers in a similar fashion.

Constructive comments, those are the good ones. Do you have those?
I think that the new symbols are cool, and this Mii idea is awesome, in Melee, you can choose your name, so in Brawl, if there are Mugshots, why not have your Miis too, if you're playing online with your name on it, in a side note, I hope they increase the number of characters for your name to at least 6.

Also, I don't like Fox's new look too much either, but I've sort of gotten used to it, and it's not too bad.

I'm pretty sure they'll lengthen the max characters for names. I think they only had four because they didn't want a huge name above the character's head.

Yeah... I sure hope so... because 6 is a pretty good amount for most names, usually you can shorten names and words to about 6 letters by taking out vowels or whatever, so I think that 6 would be appropriate, but 8 or even 10 would be all the better.

"Fartemup" would become "Frtmup"

They only had 4 characters because you can fit a much longer name in 4
characters with the Japanese alphabet. Wakizashi for example. That's only 4 letters long in Japaneses.

THE MII IDEA IS FREAKIN GENIUS.

I been thinking about this and it's been bothering me, since now there are no icons how will they do stock matches?
