Like, otherwise, you could argue any from the Adventure Mode beginning in Ultimate, and that's hard to say since I can't even remember who was all in.

I was going to go with focusing on "similar Digimon", but maybe having everyone themed after the specific Crests is a much much better idea.

Though it also depends if I should choose DLC or not. Courage is obviously Hero(since their codename is Brave). Love easily is Peach/Daisy. In fact, I think Love was Peach's stamp in Mario Party 3. But I forget. Light is Palutena. Friendship could potentially be all three Links, since they're known for making tons of friends in the game. The fact one turns into a Wolf is a nice coincidence. Knowledge is obviously Robin. Reliability and Sincerity are a bit more difficult. I guess Mario/Luigi/Wario could all work for Reliability. Sincerity is awkward in itself. Hope is also awkward. Though I could use Sonic with his dark costume, since "Bring hope to humanity" is a phrase referring to Shadow himself. That's the closest I got for that, despite the stretch. That just leaves Sincerity.

Marx feels like the best boss option, since he's an eldritch abomination. I was otherwise going to focus on basing it upon the actual various villains in Digimon Adventure 1; Devimon, Etemon, etc.

A great idea, but a couple of corrections: Mimi being Sincerity & Joe being Reliability were English dub changes. In the original Japanese, Mimi was Purity & Joe was Sincerity/Honesty. I would imagine SSBU would follow the original line-up over the Saban version.
