What you do is autobattle on one of the lower difficulties. It's unreliable and not very stamina efficient, but it's far less tedious than doing it manually. I did most of the trial by autobattling, and I still managed to get every last reward. So does auto-battle actually work? I dunno, it feels unreliable for the later stages.
I did it on the Lvl. 30 Hard tier, and it worked fine. My team of Tiki, Ike, Brave Lucina, and Deirdre would usually be able to complete it just fine, netting a score of 441 per run. It helps to do it with strong characters that have skills to restore their HP, like Aether. I thought about giving Tiki one of the healing skills, like Sol or Noontime, but she usually was fine because of her crazy Def stat.So does auto-battle actually work? Definitely saves on the tedium of it. It's a nice feature, I'm glad they added it.What you do is autobattle on one of the lower difficulties. I ranked Effie in the S+ tier because of her absurd attack stat and she runs two effective skillsets.I disagree with Effie being S+ Tier. I mean, she CAN be S+ Tier with Skill Inheritance, but so can (mostly) everyone tbh. But that's not my main point. My main point is that the only thing Effie really has going for is high Def and Wary Fighter. Something Zephiel also has, except i'd sooner make Zephiel an S+ Tier instead of Effie because at least Zephiel has a Legendary Weapon.
Both are amazing with Distant Counter, of course, but Zephiel will hit harder.
If you notice, everyone you listed has Legendary Weapons except for Effie and Amelia. But Amelia, i'd rank S+ Tier because of Armor March.

Ah ok. I remember doing the auto-battle thing but feeling like i wasn't getting enough points unless i did Lunatic. But i'll try it again in the next Tempest.I did it on the Lvl. 30 Hard tier, and it worked fine. Doing it like this was actually also a lot faster than doing the harder runs manually too, I think.
I can see that argument, yeah. Though i've never seen a Distant Counter Effie yet.I ranked Effie in the S+ tier because of her absurd attack stat and she runs two effective skillsets.
Her default kit is incredible; all she needs is a Brave Lance, a special like Bonfire, and either an armor support skill or Threaten Defense and she's good. These skills combined with the default Death Blow and Wary Fighter makes her scary to deal with. It's hard to OHKO her and she can retaliate on the next turn.
Her other skillset, and most likely her better one, involves Distant Counter and Quick Riposte; she was even able to survive a +Attack Death Blow Reinhardt and kill him.
She's in a class of her own and I think she'll be a permanent member for many Armor Emblem teams.
I have encountered one just this morning and she was difficult to deal with. Her budget set is effective, but Distant Counter makes her more scary as an enemy phase unit. I think she also had Ridersbane, so this one was made specifically to check Reinhardt.I can see that argument, yeah. Though i've never seen a Distant Counter Effie yet.
Wait, Eldigan? How does he benefit from it? Aside from the obvious "can counterattack at range".Distant Counter is a very rare skill for obvious reasons, but I know several units do benefit from it (Effie, Eldigan, Ayra, and Amelia just to name a few).
With his bulk, he can check archer units not named Brave Lyn and can even check magic units.Wait, Eldigan? How does he benefit from it? Aside from the obvious "can counterattack at range".

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Direct recap
- We got some backstory on the world of Alrest. Everyone lived on Elysium but then they got banished and sent to live on the Titans. However, even the Titans don't live forever and it looks like the main objective of the game is find a way back to Elysium.
- Living in paradise and then banished, where i have i heard this story before...
- Japanese voice pack confirmed. So, for those of you who complained about the English dub, you're saved. Personally, i lik the English dub but now there's an option for everyone.
- Story trailer. It looks very cool and there may have been a spoiler there but putting spoilers in their trailers is a Xenoblade thing appearntly. They did it with XC1, they did it with X, and now they're doing it with XC2.
The spoiler is that Pyra has a form called Mithra. On a gameplay standpoint, Pyra can switch between Mithra at any time, effectively giving Rex four Blades at a time (Pyra/Mithra+the other 3 Blades). Pretty cool.- Zeke and his Blade, Pandoria are the newly revealed playable characters. Zeke definitely has my favorite design of the party. He's the black-clothed, eyepatch guy seen in the trailers and wallpapers.
- They also showed off some of the villains.
- Whenever a unique monster is defeated, a tombstone will appear when they fell. By visiting these tombstones, you can challenge them again. I think that's a really neat touch and it's better than having to wait for the unique monster to respawn like in previous games.
- Map in your way? Art names in your way? You can customize the UI to remove these to take in more of the scenery.
- As Poppi is an artifical Blade, she can be customized with special parts. You ca acquire these parts by playing a special retro Nopon mingame. My only worry is that Poppi will be to customization to the point where Tora never has to switch out.
- Three different types of combos: Driver Combos, Blade Combos, and Fusion Combos. I'm loving this combat system more and more.
- DLC confirmed. I can already hear the salt but i will say, it's basically following Breath of the Wild's DLC. The game will be supported with DLC all the way up to Fall of next year. It contains:
- Some new items
- New quests
- New Rare Blade (i actually don't like this part)
- New Challenge Mode
- Brand new story.
- The brand new story has me really hyped.
- Biggest surprise though is that on Nov.9th, Breath of the Wild will receive a free update. It contains a quest and, upon completing it, you'll recive Rex's clothes for Link to wear. This cross-promotion is really cool.
- Heart-to-Hearts still exist but the more time a Driver spends with a Blade, the more abilities the Blade gets.
And here's some newly revealed artwork of the game (SmashBoards, i swear, if you don't show them, i'm gonna MUDA MUDA someone for an hour).
She is best girl
He looks amazing. Can't find Pandoira's official art tho
She's the Blade of that one lady with the dual rapiers
There was a Xenoblade 2 direct? I need to check that out then. Not Fire Emblem but who here watched the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Direct? Here are my thoughts
If i may offer my perspective on the matter...Edit: Okay, just watched the direct. Here's my thoughts on it.
I'm not a fan of the character design at all. Rex and Pyra I especially dislike, which is a shame, considering they're the main characters. And we might not be able to change the clothing blades wear, which would mean that Pyra is going to be stuck in that silly outfit.
Combat looks like eh. I'm not a fan of Xenoblade style combat at all, really. Customizing skills is fun, but actual battles don't feel as strategic when you only control one character out of a party. It strikes a weird balance of action RPG and turn based RPG combat that doesn't really mesh well in my opinion. But I guess that I'm the minority in this.
...On the other hand, the world still looks like an absolute joy to explore. That's what sold me on X, and it might just sell me on 2 here. I might get the game just for that. BotW has been out for almost a year now and I still can't believe the Switch is able to handle games like that in handheld mode. It's crazy.
It's really just a matter of my personal taste, I guess. None of the characters they've shown have really resonated with me. In my eyes, they're okay at best and silly at worst. If i may offer my perspective on the matter...
I'm actually really like the character design in this game. I know Rex's design looks silly but it does actually make sense when you consider that he's a Salvager who dives under the (cloud) sea. Pyra, i won't argue. I like her design but i know it's probably the most controversial one. I do like Mythra's design more. I like Rex and Pyra's designs, but the other characters do have better designs. Zeke's design is my favorite of the playable characters and the villains have good designs as well. They even got Tetsuya Nomura, character designer of Final Fantasy, to design some of the villains. Then there's the Rare Blades, who each have a unique design due to them being designed by various artists from across Japan. I'll link to a gallery of that here.
Oh RIP. Well then, i'll just side with Amelia then.Amelia defeated Katarina in a hard fought battle.
Simply put, their teams used the last minute multipliers to their advantage. The multiplier was the reason why Camilla beat Lyn; if it wasn't for that multiplier and the fact that Lyn didn't get one afterwards, then Camilla would've lost. How was Shanna not eliminated in round 1? How did Soren beat Ryoma? The world will never know.....
What new modes could they announce though?I feel like it's about time for them to announce a new game mode, even if its not releasing just yet.
Well, I could throw all sorts of ideas at the wall, but it's difficult what they will make. The game could probably benefit from an infinite grind mode, maybe like the Tempest Trials but permanent. Obviously they wouldn't give orbs as a reward, since we'll probably never get an inexhaustible supply of those. Or maybe something a real reason to have a friends list (aside from the occasional Voting Gauntlet, that is). The game is still young and there's still all sorts of things they could do with it.What new modes could they announce though?
I want to see more Gauntlets like this. even though i didn't really participate in this one (i stopped after Katarina lost), it's still incredibly satisfying to see Shanna vs Takumi play out. Mainly because we've never had a battle that was this close since Ephraim vs Chrom and no, i'm not counting battles that were affected by the multiplier (like Soren vs Ryoma).Shanna won the Gauntlet and she didn't even have a multiplier in the last round.
Best. Gauntlet. Ever.
The two really did give it their all indeed. Now, they deserve some good rest.
I'm glad we have a nice, wholesome image of the two.But amidst this division, the fanart has started, and already, we have a very sweet image of the two:
