Hey, are there ever any local smashfests in the central CT area? I'd like to play some actual humans instead of CPs but it just seems like maybe 5-6 people here get together and play.
I went to Evo on Sat. and it was kind of fun but terribly organized, i.e. 5 TVs, no warmups, no friendlies, horrible seeding, half-@ssed rule enforcement, no chairs etc. although it was fun to see some pros play live. I got knocked out after 3 rounds and had to play Lord HDL's Marth 2nd round.......I thought his tag seemed familiar........
3rd round I went almost dead even on a Falco w/ Marth but lost......my first time playing a Falco that could SHL decently......
It was a good learning experience and not too bad for going in cold and almost never playing anyone besides my brother. Also funny to see Mew2King and PC going "auto-pilot" as Wes called it. Funny how such a badly run tourney attracted so many good people.
I really liked the sportsmanship of the smash players in general, nobody was an *** to me. It was annoying paying 30 bucks to play 8 games of smash on blurry discolored TVs but at least I got to see a lot of decent matches......including that ridiculous Pika win vs. Chu where Chu lost a stock 3 secs into the match from a neutral B.
Anyway, I'd like to know if anyone has regular free smashfests for fun where I can play lots of friendlies and get some experience. If not, someone should get some going on the weekends or something b/c it sounds like the regular players just all go to eachother's houses and blow tons of $$$ on gas. If you have any info PM me please.
