Yooka-Laylee
I could explain who they are, but I have a video that does that for me!
Yooka and Laylee are similar to, but legally distinct from, Banjo-Kazooie - a bunch of ex-Rare employees decided that if Microsoft isn't going to make the sort of games that made Rare famous, then they'll do it themselves. A chameleon and a bat, Yooka and Laylee have a wide variety of powers like creating sonic shockwaves, curling up into a ball and rolling around, and turning invisible.
Ironically, their first Banjo-Kazooie-inspired game got mixed reviews, though their second game (which was more in the vein of Donkey Kong Country) was highly praised. The games have a bunch of staples that you'd come to expect from Rare - self-aware humour, googly eyes on everything, sudden gameplay changes...
In addition to 2D and 3D platformers, Yooka and Laylee have also been in platform fighters like Brawlout...
...and arena fighters like Mighty Fight Federation...
...so they're no strangers to randomly showing up in indie games and being told to beat people up. (maybe not to the extent that Shovel Knight is, but that's a high bar to clear)
Capital Cashino
While I could go with the first level or hub world, I wanted to go with something that was aesthetically different - in this case, a giant gaudy casino. The fighting takes place on top of one of the chandeliers overlooking the casino, and as a stage hazard, minecart tracks will occasionally be lowered onto the screen in various patterns, which are followed shortly after by Kartos driving along and hopping from one track segment to the other, damaging whoever he touches. (the tracks can also be used as platforms - otherwise, it's a flat Final Destination-style stage)
Yooka-Laylee's fine; I decided to waive the pre-hiatus submissions for the sake of avoiding any hassle. As long as you didn't submit a character in the last two rounds, they're fine to submit now.As long as I'm allowed to, I'll nominate Yooka and Laylee with Capital Cashino as a stage; I nominated them during Jacket's round, but that was more than two rounds ago, so I think it's okay.
Do you have a stage in mind?Job #10:
Damn, I think it'd be cool to submit another RPG character. I mean, surely there's nothing that could go wrong from this, right? Not when there's so many quirky RPGs out there. Quirky RPGs inspired by the MOTHER series. It'd work well alongside Kris, right? There's surely nothing wrong with this?
Character Name: Alex Eggleston
Character Origin: YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG
All-Star Strife is YIIKing out! This post-modern protagonist was outcasted from literally his entire friend group for being an asshole toward them and has arrived in the wonderful world of Indie Paradise through plot convenience and some magic bull** that happened when he entered an elevator in 1999 (probably), I really don't know. But he's here and monologuing about himself in the corner so ** it, we ball.
I think that, as ridiculous a pick as this might seem, the kind of character that you love to hate would be an interesting one to see here. I'd picture his moveset being intensely disrespectful, his taunts obnoxious, his whole playstyle promoting the worst possible players to greatness whilst being a glass cannon in the most literal sense. I'd like to stress that this isn't an attempt to bash on anyone - honestly, with his moveset being focused on his vinyls and other items and equipment from the game, he'd have a genuinely pretty unique vibe that'd be a weird but inspired choice.
**** i forgor (thank you for the reminder ill get that sorted now)Do you have a stage in mind?

Special Move | Special Move Name | Photo | Description |
---|---|---|---|
Neutral Special | Yellow SOUL | A really fast projectile during normal use, Kris's body will darken and their SOUL will be revealed, turning yellow in colour before turning sideways. This animation is pretty fast, and the SOUL will begin to fire pellets of energy forward with a fast rate of fire but low damage and no knockback, not even flinching. However, charging Neutral Special has the SOUL charge up - holding it can maintain the SOUL's charge levels and have it fire a larger projectile which has slightly higher damage but only minimal knockback. This move doesn't use any TP. | |
Forward Special | Rude Buster/Red Buster | Pointing forward in a recreation of their ability to ACT, Susie appears behind Kris and swings her axe forward, firing a Rude Buster attack which can be aimed slightly upward or downward by holding the control stick accordingly. Rude Buster costs 15TP to use, but if Kris's TP is over 65, the attack is changed to Red Buster - a slightly larger and more powerful form of the projectile that uses 35TP. The ax itself actually does high damage too, and can knock opponents into the resulting strike! Overall, it's a monsterously powerful attack that does offset the Yellow SOUL's charged nature. | |
Back Special | Warning!/Ax Swing | Another Susie-based move, Kris points forward and Suzie appears behind them, lunging forth and swinging her axe forward and then upward. If tapped again, Suzie will swing her ax downward more akin to her traditional attack. Whilst it's not a projectile, it is a powerful tool to be used for spacing, having more reach than Kris's sword, and actually has no TP usage! However, its high reach and damage output is nerfed somewhat by having a pretty specific sweet spot and a lot of lag to deal with, so use with care! | |
Up Special | Falling | It's a bit of a stretch, but my concept for this is that Kris essentially leaps upward by quite a high margin. There's not a lot of scenes in Deltarune where the team go upward, and I feel like the teacups are kind of specifically related to Queen, so here we are. However, if you hold down the special button when at the peak of Kris's jump, a platform appears under them that appears to be made of papers. Using this takes up a large amount of TP, 60 specifically, but allows Kris to jump (and use Up Special!) again! However, the platform can only be used once at a time - Kris has to either touch the ground or die to be able to use that again. | |
Down Special | Pacify | Kris's Down Special has them ACT and call out Ralsei, who uses the move Pacify. The move uses a flat 16 TP each time when used, and has a field of magical energy surround Ralsei specifically. Opponents in this field are put to sleep - allowing them to be stunned! Notably, due to Ralsei stepping in front of Kris to ACT, the move's effect is more pronounced in front of the pair than behind, a little like Lucas's Down Special in Smash, but it does still have full coverage. | |
Guard Special | Heal Prayer/Dual Heal | When Guard Special is used, Kris has Ralsei ACT in order to heal them! The special move uses 35 TP, and heals a flat amount of no less than 15% damage. However, if Kris's TP is over 65, the move becomes Dual Heal - using 50 TP, and healing 30% damage. (It works differently to in the game but cut me some slack alright?) |
This is a good point. Just as a little bonus, I’m going to make Rude Buster a song by default, and everyone will still be able to submit six of their own. I’m gonna draw the line at Undertale songs, though; None of those will be present.Note: Rude Buster is already included in UNDERTALE's musical selection, and I'm going to suggest (if it's allowed) that it'd also be selectable on Ride Around Town without taking up a slot in the form of a "new song." Honestly, a small part of me considered making all of the UNDERTALE songs available here but I'll show a bit of restraint.
