i am an animation major but i hardly post in here hahah. i should come here more so that i can stay on smashboards but also focus on my art rather than smash :p

but yeah here is a pencil test that i did recently. just trying to maintain a level of quality in drawing the character instead of rushing. i'm glad my school provides all the tools to do this stuff

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V14mNrtbygs

(this was done with a cheap dv camera and iStopMotion... in my school lab. my friends have told me that scanning + adobe after effects provides much better quality, but i need to get my hands on some of that software...)

i'll post more individual drawings!

please provide any comments, questions, critiques, advice!

I never knew you did that sort of stuff Choknater. I'm in animation and modeling too. :0

That was really good for pencil too, especially since you say it was just a test. Have you ever tried to manually add blur effects to make it look even smoother? Stretching and warping things that are in motion can give a really dynamic feel that I think would work well with your style.

Do you have any drawings you can post too? :D

as far as drawings in my style i haven't uploaded a lot

thanks for the tips, i was thinking of putting some kind of blur effect on the hammer, but my goal for that animation was trying to keep my form as consistent as possible. once i'm good at that, i'll try to do more effects manually

here's an in class drawing i recently did of pacman haha

I wouldn't mind personally. I was considering putting up some of my life drawing exercises sometime whenever I update my thread. I'm sure others would feel the same, but I dunno about forum rules and stuff.
I wanna see more of your stuff though lol

I'd like to animate. I understand it takes time, but, like, Macromedia flash doesn't seem to want to cooperate with me.

Looking forward to see more content.

Nice! Was this animated in photoshop? I wanna see some colored animations as I'm currently looking for animators and musicians.

hm, alright, well i'll upload some and just link them rather than posting the images up directly on this board.

thanks. do you have adobe after effects? i think is one of the best suited programs for 2d animating. i don't have it but i have e-z access to it at my school's labs. some day, some day

That's really nice Chok. Now if only Pac and Mayweather could get into the ring.
thanks. totally agreed LOL

Actually can't have you posting/linking to nude drawings. :c

Definitely want to see any other stuff you've worked on though. So good, kiu. Charcoal can be a pain to work with sometimes lol.

they have always been strict with nudity. it makes sense to me, since they follow a pg-13 rule on these boards. you need to be 18 to take the classes, so the material is 18+

charcoal is very fun, fast, and expressive to me. doing very detailed things like the pacquiao is kinda tedious but still pretty fun haha. charcoal is so forgiving.

I was not trying to start a debate, no need to sound so aggressive.

Also lol, I vividly remember during Library time in middle school being filled with going to the art books for artistic nudes, dictionaries with pictures of genitalia, and encyclopedias with nude tribal men and women. That is ALL I did during library time from 6th-8th grade.

I generally don't like charcoal because of the mess it makes, but recently in life drawing I've been doing lighting and contrast with white charcoal on black paper, and it's really fun.
Also that's too bad about the rules.

I dunno, it's probably something to be avoided altogether on this site.

Not bad at all man.
I should totally post some of mine too :0 Figure drawing is the only time I'll settle my differences with charcoal. So messy and unforgiving.

dam, smash pros who can draw! :D i liked the drawing of pacquiao and the figure drawing. the grown up nana character design is pretty cool too, although the hips should be narrower along with the waist. and it kind of looks like you did it in ms paint with the 100% consistent line width.

Chok can draw?!! That's an awesome talent you have there, you should definetly pursue some kind of animation career someday, it's really nice to be able to draw like you do, I barely have the patience for it. :/

I can't get use to drawing through the CPU using Paint. I'll stick to my paper and pen/pencil. XD I draw a lot since I want to be a game designer and always keep coming up with ideas and images.

Good luck pursuing an the animation career. =)

Yeah, I hear Cintiqs are amazing for digital drawing.

I like your character design, and I actually don't think you need to "fix" the hips. Not all female characters need to have skinny supermodel figures, I think it's more interesting the way it is. Although if she has that body type her arms/shoulders might need to be a little wider but that's an easy fix.

Glad to see you still making new work, I'm interested in seeing a finished version soon.

since you have paint tool sai and a tablet, i'd suggest setting line width to pressure sensitivity. just variating your marks can add a ton of interest.
