I don't want any cuts PERIOD! It's bad enough to me that Pokemon Trainer (Excluding Charizard) had to leave. Especially Snake, because as much as things are looking grim for him, I REALLY hope he stays in just so I can enjoy his codec taunts. Cutting off ANY character is undesireable.

If Shulk is added, and Mr. Game & Watch returns, (only adding an if for this one because he technically isn't confirmed yet) I'll main them too. If Mii Gunner was usable online, I'd probably play that a lot more.

You know I'd be pretty sure that Snake was cut if it wasn't for the fact that Sakurai and Kojima are trolls, and I could see them making it seem like Snake won't come back and then revealing him close to the games release with a trailer that has him say "kept you waiting huh?"

Hard to pick mains really, there are too many good choices. I'm the kind of person who also has to play these characters to pick as well. As someone who hasn't had the chance to play the game, I'm going to use every character every once in a while in the end. So for now, I'll just say my mains will be Random and.

I am so surprised that Ike is not one of them xD.

Hard to pick mains really, there are too many good choices. I'm the kind of person who also has to play these characters to pick as well. I haven't played the game either (farewell smash fest). Those are just the ones who I wanna look forward to. I prob won't main 3/4 of who I posted, you never know.

I hope that there are NO cuts made as well. Sakurai-san said it himself, that "He doesn't like Cuts". I would love for Snake to return, really just because of his codecs (I want to see his codecs for the newcomers!).

Their movesets were fun to me. Squirtle's unbreakable Side+B is one of my favorite moves from Brawl. And I know good players can easily avoid it/punish it, but it's still freaking awesome.

I'm willing to let my whole Pokemon Trainer drama go, if they at least return. Because although I'll miss switching, at least I'll still be able to play as my favorite starter, and Ivysaur if I feel like it. (And Charizard without feeling dirty)

Chances are, if the theory is correct, anything cut during the transition Brawl will likely get shoehorned in as DLC later on just for the ease of it. So I'd say the chances are good we might see Squirtle/Ivysaur.

Everyone expects them out right now but there is still that very likely possibility that they will be in as secret characters.
But yet if that doesn't happen they will most definitely be DLC.

As cool as it would be, there are the problems of it is JUST coming out this Thursday(which hasn't even happened yet, and the fact that it will also release on PC. Not impossible, but not very likely at the same time.

It's not entirely likely but not necessarily unlikely either.
It is an exclusive and I suppose it would represent the Indie scene pretty well.
But there is that fact that there is always another Smash Bros. maybe next time Y'know?

Agreed. It also doesn't help that Shovel Knight is appearing on other consoles, that would be like promoting sales for Nintendo's Competitors.

Yeah I get that. I guess everyone has at least one character they want that is very unlikely. Although thinking about it, Quote from Cave Story could be a likely character IF we get an Indie character at all. I'm not saying we will or that I'm supporting, just food for thought.

Mind you I know and realize that Shovel Knight has next to 0% chance to even get a mention in Smash Bros because he is so new. However I do like the idea, so please realize that when you comment on the thread.

Shovel Knight hype! I'm definitely getting it, not sure if I should buy it for 3DS or Wii U, though. I'm leaning towards 3DS for portability.
His chances in smash are really low, though, considering the amount of other characters that would be in before him, and he's third party I think.
Same goes for Shantae except she has more chances than Shovel Knight (still very low).

I remember my reaction when I first heard Sakurai say that characters will no longer transform. I was so worried that my main would be cut, but seeing Charizard at the end was my favorite part and temporarily made up for the fact that 2/3 of my main will most likely not return. I personally think the removal of transformations was a terrible idea. Also, I don't like the excuse given. I like playing as Zelda, but I would periodically switch to Sheik to mix things up. Now, I'll have little to no reason to play as Sheik due to me not being able to switch to Zelda mid-match. As for the Pokémon Trainer, I think the best solution would've been to remove the stamina mechanic or at least fix it. I loved the idea of playing as the protagonist of the main Pokémon series. Switching was fine, just needed some fixing here and there.

Here's hoping Squirtle and Ivysaur indeed return in some form.

How main is a main?

and are the stand outs that I want to get really good with thus far. I will be playing these two no matter how much of an uphill battle for victory I have to endure(as is tradition in Yoshi's case).

However I'm also pretty interested in seeing the improvements in , seeing how and feels to me and will likely play as , and a lot too. I'm interested in many more but really I'll probably only have Yoshi and Pac as 'mains' due to my love of the characters and then maybe one or two of the others as secondaries.

I'd really like to be good with both and but failed miserably with both in Brawl so I'm not hopeful on their front.

Idk about everyone else but I know I like to play as a most of them. What I sometimes do with my friends is just make us all do random. It kinda evens the playing field for the newer people and we see a wide range of characters. It's fun

I always like messing with all the characters too. How else do you find out who you're good with? I mean sure, to start, there will be characters I gravitate towards, but I always have to try everyone at least a few times.

List of characters I dislike playing in Brawl:



That's 21/39 for me, so no, you're not alone. Granted I can still manage a match or two with the likes of Bowser, Link or Pikachu, and it's not that I think all of them are bad (most of them are though), but in general I dislike a lot of characters' playstyles, mainly the whacky ones like ICs, Olimar and G&W. Funnily enough I actually enjoy playing some of my worst characters, Dedede is my absolute worst, Mario sucks too, I've never understood how to be good at DK (my brother is godlike with him though), and oh god Ganondorf, but I can still have a fun time with them.

In Melee I dislike almost all of the roster, I feel like if you aren't dedicating a lot of your time to specific characters you're going to suck with them, and you can only focus on so many, so that leaves me disliking everyone except my 2 mains and 2 alts (/)

With that said, I like what Smash 4 is doing with some of the characters I wish I liked playing, the new Bowser looks like a blast, Kirby looks very strong, Sonic looks a lot more agile and has much more power, and Charizard has much better approach options and is free from PT's slavery.
However, there are some characters I know I'm just bound to never like. Pikachu has been equally boring to me all 3 installments despite being good, R.O.B is even more boring, and G&W is the most boring. I hate having to pluck Pikmins constantly with Olimar and his attacks just feel weird to me, likewise Diddy Kong just feels awkward to me and I don't want to run around throwing bananas the whole match. Wolf is too stiff, Ice Climbers I can't control no matter how hard I try, Luigi feels like trying to grab the soap after you dropped it, I always die with Lucario before I can utilize his aura, there are a lot of reasons why I dislike a number of characters and their mere concepts, that's just how things are sometimes, and I'm not really sad about any of these guys, because I don't especially like them in their actual franchises either.

And mind you I've been forced to play as every single character tons of times, all my 4 player free for all matches with my friends have basically consisted of only picking random, so I'm in a pretty good spot knowing who I like and who I don't.

There are just some characters that the playstyle never works for you.

I never got how Jigglypuff worked and I hated playing as Ganondorf for his event match ugh

I just want Snake back. If he wasn't in Brawl, I never would have played Metal Gear.

At the end of the day, that is one of the awe-inspiring wonders of Super Smash Brothers - to allow consumers mainstream exposure to video-game series they may have otherwise never personally experienced (from legendary third-parties in Sonic the Hedgehog and Pac-Man, to cult-classic specialties such as Mother and formerly Fire Emblem).

If Ness had never been in 64, I would have never known about him.... and eventually bought EarthBound 11 years latter.
