I think your argument was destroyed when he predicted Wii Fit Trainer, a Rhythm Heaven enemy as confirmed for Smash Run, and he changed Mii's name to Mii Fighter an hour before the Digital Event (showing that he did in fact have insider info).

It's not like legit leaks have never gotten anything wrong before. One wrong detail doesn't necessarily disconfirm the Sal Leak. Besides, he said that Ness or Lucas MAY be cut. Not that it was definitely happening.

Also, Smash could do fine without Lucas.
He was on the chopping block to begin with, I don't see how it's so impossible for Lucas to be cut.

Oh please, Jiggs was never legitimately planned to be cut. You guys never gave me any sources to prove that Jiggs was a planned cut.

I don't think Ness is in danger of being cut at all considering he ended on the conclusion that Lucas was the one who drew the short end of the stick. This isn't the first time that decision has popped up, we know it was supposed to switch around in Melee too, and the question was likely raised again with Brawl. Even then Lucas isn't guaranteed to be cut, he just said he might be.

Jiggs was never a planned cut btw, all we know is that she was added late in development. This could be due to many reasons, like her never having been planned to be included in SSE, or her being so incredibly easy to develop. If Sonic hadn't blasted in and cut off one or two characters she wouldn't even be close to the bottom honestly, and even then she was still ahead of Toon Link and Wolf, one having returned and the other very likely to return.

There's a misconception.

Jigglypuff may have been among the lower-priority characters like Mewtwo, Roy, Toon Link, etc., but Jigglypuff was never intended to be cut. The only intended cuts from Melee to Brawl were Young Link and Pichu.
She just had the proverbial guillotine over her head (as did Toon Link, Wolf, and the unfinished characters in Brawl's data sans "pra_mai") that would fall if time would not allow for her to be finished.
She was just one of the lucky ones to not have to have it fall on her.

She wasn't meant to be cut. She just had low priority. That's equivalent of saying Toon Link was meant to be cut from Brawl's development.

Even if we are to presume that your assertion is correct; that precedent is not necessarily applicable to Smash 4's development given the circumstances attributed to this title versus Brawl. The priority list is not stagnant, it is not going to be the same. Note that Toon Link was one of the first reveals.

But Ness is not going to be cut. ESPECIALLY since Earthbound has newfound relevance through a international Virtual Console release, making him the most recent protagonist once again and introducing the game to even more people than before. Ness I essentially the face of Mother, and in all honesty, it's all because of Smash Bros.

Lucas deserves to be in over Ness, Mother 3 was considered better than Earthbound. Then again, Marth's game was considered "just good" while Chrom and Ike's game had the better reception.

I also think that Greninja took Takamaru's shtick, but whatever. If I were to put a retro on here it'd be Mach Rider.

As for Lucas, cuts happen. Lucas is and always has been one of the first to go if time constraints posed an issue.
Just because someone likes a character doesn't mean that Sakurai is suddenly obliged to keep them.

Btw, does Bandana Dee have that much of a following? I for one like the little guy, but still he was the first person I booted from my (dream)roster to make room for Lucas.

Well Greninja can teleport, which makes him invisible.

If you're going by the Salromano leak you should remove either Ness or Lucas.
And some removals I would consider:
- One of the DK newcomers.
- Isaac
- Chibi Robo
No other problem with the roster after that though.

Did CSS scroll on the demo? Scrolling character screens work a lot worse than people think and have several drawbacks I've covered in an earlier post. As far as the lack of a Rosalina leak, there's any number of reasons why she wasn't included in the leaks. The leaker may not have known. The leaker may not have thought it prudent to divulge that information. The leaker may not have access to the full roster. The leaker may just be leaking certain picks so as not to compromise their position and/or identity. I can't speak to it. That said, the leak is 8/11. With the Sneaky Spirit, as far as I'm concerned, it's 9 out of 11. Chrom's basically an autopilot add for FE, and Shulk's on his heels. The guy hasn't made it a habit to be wrong, and until he's out-and-out incorrect on something, it's worth lending him the benefit of the doubt.

I do not like the characters on the leak either. But to pretend there's nothing behind it is foolish, and pipedreaming for favorites now is silly. It's simple math. 48 spots fits nicely on the 3DS screen. Remember, text is going into those squares too and the real estate needs to be manageable(boring UI stuff, but necessary). It also coincides with Sakurai's philosophy on ultra-large rosters. With three months left to go before the Japanese release, it's not unthinkable that this is it.

So what if it didn't scroll on the demo? It was 20 characters! In brawl the character slots SHRUNK. You gave no legitmate answer to rosalina either so we are in for more newcomers.

Honestly, a "Villains" pack sounds pretty plausible if Nintendo goes by fan demand.
