It did definitely seem that way. The sword user has so many to take from, the brawler was a little unique, but the gunner had a lot of what appeared to be Samus' moves. It's still a mild cause for concern, I think, though, as much as I appreciate the encouragement.

I don't feel that way about them, pink gold peach and baby rosalina are just crap charecters with no history with nintendo miis have history and are very iconic to nintendo and actually very deserving of the representation they received.

That's what I find to be ironic about the situation that I'm seeing. Miis are playable, and yet people are talking trash about them.

Could just be the demo versions roster. I'm really not sure who our starters will be, but I don't think Marth will be one, he never has been before. Not that it's impossible, of course, I just like to think characters that have always been unlockable will remain so.
Doesn't it seem odd that Bowser, Ike, and Zelda aren't even on those images? All three of them are starters in Brawl, though the Brawl box art never did have all the starters present either.
Rosalina was present on Mario Kart 8's box art, but she was still an unlockable. Maybe like in Mario Kart 8, you'll be able to fight fighters who you haven't unlocked yet, but you have to beat them in a challenger match to use them yourself.

Sakurai convinced me that Mii's were worth adding the moment he showed there was three different kinds. I'm excited to play as Mii's now.
That looks like the screen shown during E3, so I think this is legit. I wonder what's up with the yellow behind some characters.not sure if this is legit, but i see this floating around now as the demo game select screen
Excellent thought! It hadn't occurred to me to use the MK8 style of character selection, it might really fit.

All that I know is that if Mario Kart 8 has anything to say, not all characters on the box art are treated as starters; look at Rosalina.
I wasn't even surprised at all.
I'd say the precedent set by Smash is more reliable than one of another series.
