The difference is that Sakurai has said before that Ridley would be difficult to make. Sure, he said they MAY have been able to do it, but they would have to put their best efforts into it, and he probably didn't think it was worth the time and effort to make him playable.
God forbid we see 7 Pokemon, Mario, and Zelda characters in Smash.
So I am not the only one that wouldn't mind that?

To be fair, Mewtwo was planned to show up, but was removed due to time constraints. If Ike gets cut, it'd be for the same reason.
I understand the concern, but Mewtwo isn't in a similar situation to Ridley here.
This is the same man that made third-parties possible despite declaring them in some ways, harder than making the game and likely bringing even more third-parties in to this game (Mega Man, Sonic and Pac-Man if the leak is true). Oh and Sakurai is no stranger to adding characters that are very difficult to work with (Ice Climbers in Melee, Olimar in Brawl, Rosalina & Luma). To say that Ridley isn't worth the effort to add reeks of hypocrisy on Sakurai's behalf. Supporters have every right to criticize Ridley's exclusion for that reason alone.
Although I'd rather have Gigue, I guess it would be fine.But having Gigue, Ness, and Lucas would be the best possible option though.

While I do disagree somewhat about the context of that quote (he did follow up in saying he could've been in with the full efforts of the team), you're right about that comparison. Ridley and Mewtwo have been treated much differently by the man as one has been considered multiple times while the other keeps getting ignored and put into other roles. Sakurai obviously does not put them on the same level (though they really should be), so they're not really that comparable in his consideration. Mewtwo also has a lot going for him as he has the company's and the fanbase's backing, which makes him a very ideal choice for the game in terms of GF's consideration. With him being on both GF and Sakurai's mind, he's definitely in a good position.
A bit of a minor nitpick here, but I don't think that was the intent of the message. The context and final piece of the line ("he wouldn't have joined the Brawl") makes me think that he was referring to the Brawl Team's efforts in getting the character into the playable roster back for that particular game, not that he was ever on the chopping block for SSB4. Mewtwo potentially could've been prioritized over him as he is GF's posterboy at the moment, but I don't think Lucario was in danger of getting cut (particularly since it seems we've lost PT, Squirtle and Ivysaur ahead of him).

Prepare to see this sort of denial for a long while.
I find their inclusion unlikely unless the leak they were in happens to be true, and I think I have reason to doubt that it is.
Rhythm Heaven character would be neat, I'd prefer the kids before Marshal.

Pokemon Trainer is wishful thinking but I just can't be bothered changing it.
Plus take into account that if Squirtle and Ivysaur truly are cut, that leaves us with five Pokemon characters (Pikachu, Jigglypuff, Pokemon Trainer, Lucario and Gekkouga). Since Pokemon is a massive franchise with a plethora of potential fighters and that the roster is going to expand from the previous games, I can't see any reason why we would get even less than before. We'll sooner eight Pokemons in SSB 3DS & Wii U before we drop down to five. I can't think of anyone but Mewtwo that would be a better candidate for being the sixth (and likely final) Pokemon for this game.
Or we can replace them with the Elite Beat Agents.
