Oh, I thought that concept had already been presented to the discussion.I know. Just...building upon it. I hope that's fine...
Never mind.

They're clones.
isn't other m ridley a clone?
Fine, maybe I'm wrong.Um...no, they're not.
I mean, conceptually, yes, it's an excuse to re-use the character, but as far as story goes, no, they are not.

Fine, maybe I'm wrong.
But let me get this straight, so it's okay that we can get two different Ridleys on Pyrosphere, because they're clones?
I don't get it.
I don't see the problem. Samus can fight Zero Suit Samus. Zelda can fight Sheik. Link can fight Toon Link.Fine, maybe I'm wrong.
But let me get this straight, so it's okay that we can get two different Ridleys on Pyrosphere, because they're clones?
No one will be surprised if he is a Boss character. The question is...is he more than that? Because that, we do not yet know. You guys can believe what you want, but I will not be surprised if he is a Boss Fight character.
People made the same argument for Brawl. That didn't happen. I admire you guys for your hope, but I simply don't agree.
But once again.
If this can happen, I don't see why not.
They're characters. It would be idiotic to kill the ability to play the same character.I don't see the problem. Samus can fight Zero Suit Samus. Zelda can fight Sheik. Link can fight Toon Link.
In Melee, Bowser can fight Giga Bowser.
In every SSB, up to four of the exact same character can fight eachother.
Now, see, where I get confused is whether or not people are saying he's not a boss character or he's both. You guys can believe what you want, but I will not be surprised if he is a Boss Fight character.

That's...exactly what I wanted to see. Thank you, sir. Though I suggest changing the eyes to orange-yellow, and making them empty. Those cat eyes aren't doing it for me.View attachment 12075
Just put in a Ridley that looks like this...Super Metroid Ridley with some Other M aesthetics.
The only Metroid character purely from Other M that's playable is regular Samus anyways.
Most fighting games do it.They're characters. It would be idiotic to kill the ability to play the same character.
I know. Most fighting games do it.
Most fighting games do not let players pick the same character.I know.
That's why I said it would be stupid if you could only pick different characters and not the same.
In regards to the whole Ridley and Toon Link thing. I don't know too much about Ridley but according to you guys, Other M Ridley is a clone whereas the other is a different entity. Wind Waker Link and Spirit Tracks Link are different people too but yet Sakurai felt compelled to replace Conductor Link with another substitute (Alfonzo) whenever Toon Link is put into play. So in a sense, there could have been just as much reason for both Toon Link's to be together as the two Ridley's and yet that didn't happen.
So as someone who isn't too knowledgeable in the Metroid series I have to ask this. Does Ridley have a substitute that can work more or less the same way to take over for him whenever he is being played as in that stage?
How I see it, Other M Ridley is clearly a stage hazard. Meta Ridley could very easily take his place when you use whatever the playable Ridley could look like.In regards to the whole Ridley and Toon Link thing. It's possible.Just curious.
Has anyone made the "Well it might be Meta Ridley and not Ridley because they're two separate entities or something like that." argument yet?
Just wondering how far the hand has been stretched.
Really, isn't that why Palette Swaps exist? Most fighting games do not let players pick the same character.
If I'm playing Soul Calibur, and I pick Cervantes, and my buddy wanted to be Cervantes, tough luck. SSB is one of the few I've played that actually allows this.
I think there's like some lava snake that's in the area right before it.In regards to the whole Ridley and Toon Link thing. If you really wanted to get technical...it's still possible Vorash (the lava snake) is the actual boss of Pyrosphere in SSB4, and Ridley is playable.I think there's like some lava snake that's in the area right before it.
Strangely enough, Sakurai likes to keep our expectations low before they're revealed...like Toon Link for example.I'm just keeping him on my roster because I have no idea what Sakurai's planning. If I see him as a boss, then fine, he's out. I just don't want to regret taking him off and seeing him playable. My expectations are low, but I still think he's not out yet.
...Um, that's not true. Like, at all. Most fighting games do not let players pick the same character.

It isn't?...Um, that's not true. Like, at all.
That's my experience. Maybe it's just the fighting games I've played? Or am I wrong about Soul Calibur? Cause I have it. And play it quite a bit....Um, that's not true. Like, at all.
I don't recall ever playing a fighting game where two players couldn't pick the same character. That's my experience. Maybe it's just the fighting games I've played? Or am I wrong about Soul Calibur? Cause I have it. And play it quite a bit.
It's true, as a player of Soul Calibur IV and V, you can indeed not pick the same character as your opponent, the only one you can pick twice are custom characters. Just like in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, you can't pick the same character twice...which sucks because I'd totally love to decimate people with a full team of Felicias, she helped me get to the top rank before I left the online scene for the game.I don't recall ever playing a fighting game where two players couldn't pick the same character.
I'm just briefly looking into this now. I know you can't in Soul Calibur, I don't know if that bleeds into other Namco fighters like Tekken or not, I know Street Fighter II does not allow players to be the same character, don't know about more recent Street Fighter games. What fighting games do allow it?I don't recall ever playing a fighting game where two players couldn't pick the same character.
Does Team Ninja not like the Prime series? If so, how's that going to stop Sakurai from putting Meta Ridley on the stage anyway, should he decide to do so? It's his team's game. The problem I have with a separate Ridley to take over when he is playable on Pyrosphere, is that it wouldn't make any sense for a different form to show up. Especially considering the distaste of the Prime series by Team Ninja, I can't see Meta Ridley showing up in a place that he wouldn't fit.
Zero Suit and Sheik, while being the same as the origin character, are still in a similar art style to the other(s) in their series. They're playable characters, not a stage hazard.[/quote]Toon Link and Alfonzo is different for obvious reasons. Link and Toon Link are a special case by Sakurai as far as having two versions because he wants them.
That's why we said there could be two different Ridleys on screen at the same time, and be honest, you totally want to see Ridley destroy his clone like Godzilla destroyed Zilla. And as for Toon Link, we have confirmation that Alfonzo has been on stage with no Toon Link in play, which probably leads to the fact that it's probably indeed possible to have both Toon Links on screen at the same time. The problem I have with a separate Ridley to take over when he is playable on Pyrosphere, is that it wouldn't make any sense for a different form to show up. Im hoping peach that one was bad.So... who's Final Smash do you guys think has changed?
I'm totally not trying to get away from the Ridley discussion... but can't we just wait and see what happens?
Sheik and Zero Suit Samus, I hope?So... who's Final Smash do you guys think has changed?

Would be okay with this. After all, Meloetta>>>>Mewtwo.Ok, Meloetta for smash! *trollface*
Yeah, I think it's best to just leave it to ourselves, our discussion on it isn't really conclusive.So... who's Final Smash do you guys think has changed?
