I like this a lot and I agree with almost everything, but what about Pack-Man?

Still don't think he's as likely as some suggest, plus there isn't really a way to put him on there without messing thins up aesthetically

Edit Edit: I'm not very good at observing things. Mybad. I just heard some guys saying Jiggly was cut in your roaster and I didn't see that you actually didn't.



This is also great and Chibi-Robo is an interesting choice in my opinion. And so is Mach Rider. I really don't know which retro character could be in at this point. I'm really expecting a good surprise for it. Takamaru still seems likely however.

It's not a bad roster at all.
I would just recommend cutting Fire Emblem down to 3 characters, instead of 4.
It really isn't deserving of 4 characters, as it is a relatively small and unpopular franchise.

What's to laugh about? It's a pretty good roster.

Micaiah is unlikely, and Chrom would be a shoo-in if we are to get 4 FE characters, though.

That doesn't really matter.
Sakurai could be a big fan of Dragonball Z for all we know, but that doesn't mean Goku is getting in.
It makes him more aware of the franchise and its characters, but not to the extent of overrepresenting it because "he likes it".

Not adding MK and Dedede until Brawl. Dedede was low priority in both 64 and Melee.

And I see the Marshal Bandwagon is beginning. It's likely just the leak's effect, same in vein of PLM. X/Y newcomer is kind of obvious if you look at Melee and Brawl.

And for 5, I'd expect another newcomer from the latest Gen.

Pac-Man is a legendary third-party and we've seen Namco's influence on the game so far.
So give it a go. What are your arguments?
And I recall you saying something similar about Little Mac, but hating on him when he was revealed. Is this bias, possibly?

That's not necessarily true. It could be that those items are our "Namco representation." Or maybe there's another Namco arcade character who will be playable.

A little big? Well that's the way I like it. 52 characters isn't so far fetched, considering that's pretty much what we were expecting if we count transformations.

I think it is far fetched though. I can find the article or video or whatever if you want but Sakurai has stated something like Brawl's roster size is already reaching the upper limits of what is practical. So seeing as how Brawl has 39 playable characters, I think the most we can realistically hope for is 42.

I know no one will listen to me in the first place, because just like every leak and every hint us fans know everything. No we don't know if Pacman is playable, so there is a allowance to deny it. No one is a lock especially Pacman.

This is an easy prediction, and if leaks are something to go by, you should probably add him now.

I'm not going to trust a leak that says Pacman will be in the game. Especially one that said he was going to be announced at E3, and yet he didn't.

Here's my thoughts on the leak: It's real. It's just missing a few things.

The leak says we're getting:
Pac-Man
Mii's
Palutena
Shulk
Chrom
Chorus Men/Marshal
Pokémon X/Y character (Greninja'd)

(and then villager, Mega Man, and Wii Fit Trainer)

The person leaking it is credible for what we know, and already leaked Villager, Wii Fit Trainers, Little Mac, and Mega Man. However, he didn't get Rosalina. What that tells us is, if he's right and the leaks are true, is that there is a possibility of other characters getting in as well, such as Mewtwo and K.Rool. (don't get me started on Ridley)

Every Smash game, we've gotten two Pokémon characters added. Mewtwo and Pichu in Melee, Pokémon Trainer's Pokémon and Lucario (would add two to the Melee roster) gave us 6. Right now, assuming Jigglypuff is back, Mewtwo would bring us to 6, and would continue the pattern of 2 Pokémon characters per game. That said, I believe Mewtwo is a lock.

With the Kremlings being shown in Smash Run, it seems as if Sakurai hasn't forgotten them. This helps K.Rool out quite a bit, and he might just be in the game. I think he is, so that's another newbie.

Overall, that gives us 14 newcomers. That's less than Brawl, yet 2 more than the original Smash. That's not a bad amount. Expecting too many more than that is bad in my opinion, and I think we're looking at a solid roster in this respect.

On the subject of veterans, I DO believe Squirtle and Ivysaur are gone, which brings us to 37 characters returning from Brawl, assuming nobody else is cut. Don't expect a ridiculous amount either. The only character who even have a lick of a chance to be cut (and this is arguable) are Wolf, Ike, Snake, and Lucas.

If, in some cruel event, they're all cut, that would take us down to 33 Brawl characters. Add 14 newcomers in there, and we have a solid roster of 47 characters. From now on, I would estimate a roster of 45+. There is little chance of a roster of 40.

Waddle Dee: The absence of Waddle Dees in Dedede's minion throw, now called Gordo Throw.

Chrom: Heavily wanted here. With Mac, it shows Sakurai pays attention to U.S. fanbase also.

Palutena: All but confirmed now. The leak, the troll, too much evidence saying she's playable.

Pac-Man: Galaga ad Stunt Rally (I think its called that) items. Nuff said.

Mii: Seems likely. With Miis getting some love stage wise (Not to mention the Find Mii logo) points toward their playability.

While I'm no Pac-Man supporter, I think the assertion that he CAN'T be playable is just as absurd as the assertion that he's assured due to some leak or random Namco items.

If you're saying the AT thing, I'm pretty sure Mr. Resetti was "evidence" Villager would be playable in Brawl.

I think K Rool is more likely than Dixie. Why do you think she is more likely? Also, why no Mewtwo?

Welcome to Smashboards. I can tell you're new not only because of your join date but because that's what EVERYONE says when they come here.
A 42 slot roster? No way man. Sakurai and his team have been making great progress on this game and seem to be revealing surprise newcomers and fan-favorites.
Cuts are minimal since Toon Link and Lucario are returning, and there are just too many great character choices to limit the roster to 42.
So just rethink that, please. I'm sure your opinion will change once you hang out here for a while.

Consider removing Bandana Dee and adding K. Rool. I don't think removing the Waddle Dee throw has as much to do with "making room" for BD(since Waddle Dees are still enemies in Smash Run) as it does removing randomness/balance stuff.
