Am I the only person who questions the speculation that Pac-Man will join the roster? If he does happen to make the cut, then what kind of moveset would he have? Something very creative, or will he pilot a mech, like in the PlayStation versions of Street Fighter X Tekken?

Based on the items, I'm hoping for retro Pac if we get him. 3D Pac is pretty lame, but retro Pac would be cool.

Many people believe Pac-Man to be a likely inclusion due to the E3 leak last year, Namco's in-depth cooperation in creating SSB4, and now the presence of retro Namco items in SSB4. Pac's one of just a few Namco reps who would actually make sense, and as the company's mascot and arguably most iconic character is the frontrunner for inclusion.

Sakurai isn't setting aside a Namco slot. He'll add Pac-Man on his own merits. And that E3 Leak is pretty much bull **** now that Miis are deconfirmed. Also, what Namco items are you talking about?

There is some definite disappointment spread among all the good news as well. Though there is no doubt the Ridley base did get hit the hardest.
Impa fanbase. Or whatever that might be... It's quite a bitchslap in the face seeing Sakurai say: there will be no transformation characters, before joking about ZSS being cut (which I think would surely result in no Sheik), afterwards showing Zelda WITH THE PHANTOM AS DOWN B, then finally: Sheik. As a separate character.

Ridley had no chance anyway, and people should've seen that long time ago, like Chrono did.

Anyway, I've seen Kritters in the 3DS 1 Player / RPG-like online Multiplayer so I'm still cool. Solo Charizard also is so ****ing awesome I might even forget about Sheik and Greninja's blow in Mewtwo's face. Customisable Special Moves is also a thing am REALLY looking forward to!

And actually, let's discuss it!

We've seen possible power ups with Mario's Fire Balls, and even Donkey Kong's Headbut, Marth's Shield Breaker.. and what else again? Damn, am hoping for duo Peanut Popguns for Diddy! A far more powerful Aether for Ike, a faster version of DK's Down B... A chargable Thunder Jolt for Pikachu? Fox getting Falco Lasers? Link with a regular Boomerang (**** THAT GAYLE BOOMERANG BURN IN ENTERAL INFERNO) or Bomb Arrows? Mario's possibilities with F.L.U.D.D (making it a much more likable addition)? It's very fun to speculate what may happen!

So I forgot about the Mega Evolutions! Are those set to be Lucario and Charizard's final smashes? Or are they item activated? An answer will be rewarded by a high five and a milkshake :D

As much as I'd like them to be, Miis are not deconfirmed. Being a background element of one stage and Find Mii not having a generic Mii logo don't really affect Mii's chances, sadly.

I'm pretty sure that the Sin & Punishment fanbase got hit hardest, guys. :p

Were there that many people really upset about that? Haven't seen much of that really.

Things to consider.

1. An ancestor of Toon Link is a conductor on a stage. He is replaced if Toon Link is selected as a playable character.

2. Zero Suit Samus teased as cut. But she ends up in the game. Ridley teased as a boss stage hazard for seven months.

3. Namco has experience with fighting games. Most fighting games have a boss and/or bosses as unlockable. Perhaps Ridley is unlocked by beating him on the stage so many times. Perhaps Mii is unlocked by beating the green monster on the Mii stage and rescuing the Mii in a cage.

4. It has been suggested that the trophy reveals int he direct have been clues to series with a newcomer included. Metroid had such a trophy.

5. Fan expectations. This was mentioned as why Lucario has a Mega Evolution. And probably why Charizard has one as well.

While I do not want to give in to false hope, I actually do think Ridley has a chance to be playable.

Speaking of characters released,I'm surprised there wasn't another StarFox rep revealed yet.
Yeah that was...pretty shocking to say the least. It kinda affected my chances of seeing Falco & Wolf back.

One of the enemy star ships from Galaga is an Assist Trophy and one of the flags from Rally X and New Rally X is an item.

Looking at the trophy quiz as a secret hint to playable characters sounds like reading way too much into things to me.

There where some people yeah. Not too many vocal ones, cause the topic of cutting Sheik for Impa was too much of a blasphemy. And she was just a character many felt was just cool to have, but not too many where too confident in her. She could still make it in I guess, but chances are very very slim now.

This page has a slew of new SSB4 pictures (apparently as part of a post-Direct press release). Lots of good stuff in there, including things that weren't shown in the Direct (such as items, pokeballs, full view of certain stages, and so forth).

Here's a Rally-X Flag, and two different shots of something from Galaga (A and B). The Galaga stuff might be an Assist Trophy, and the function of the Rally-X item is unknown, but these two elements are definitely from Namco.

Sadly that's exactly what it does. If Miis were in the game, Find Mii would be the Mii logo.

The Wii U boxing ring transformed into a Little Mac Boxing Ring. Mii could get a logo once rescued from the cage?

Why should that affect to your chances to seeing Falco & Wolf Back? xD Captain Falcon hasn't been confirmed yet, you know what I mean? ;) There're still lots of characters to be revealed, and when I mean a lot, I mean a lot.

Also, I don't think that SF will have only Fox as a rep, it's just impossible.

Wait was Megaman part of the leak for E3? Also, why not show Pacman before Megaman? Pac Man was way more expected compared to Mega Man, Sakurai would have probably saved him for later. Since everyone knew Namco was in on it, but no one knew Capcom was. I feel like if Pac and Mega were in, Pac would have been shown first, and Mega Man would be the last Oh My God! reveal at the E3 before the game comes out.

Falco will return (if I had to bet). Wolf, I would say, is a little more on the fence. His specials scream customizable moveset fodder for either the fox or bird. But then again, who knows.

Yes, but Sakurai could easily be distorting the truth to hide a reveal. Remember how the Boxing Ring had a generic Smash logo during E3, and so people argued that it wasn't a Punch-Out stage?

Well, that was still left in the game. And regardless they aren't outright disconfirmed, but they're pretty unlikely to the point where I can pretty much just dismiss them.

You shouldn't worry about Jiggs, because she's been in from the beginning, and won't get cut.
Lol. If only what we thought we know was true. I remember saying Pokemon Trainer was the most important Pokemon character and his Pokemon were Gen 6 starters. So NOOO way he's getting cut, ammirite? At this point you shouldn't be so sure about stuff like that.

Well, we know one thing. Sakurai is a LIAR! Saying there won't be past stages and Namco won't get special treatment. I don't know what to believe anymore.

Yeah, uh... Can I get some reassurance about this? From anyone? What's happened to the "most likely character?"

Brawl had 6 Pokemon fighters.
It's perfectly reasonable to think we'll get 6 again. We currently have 4. Mewtwo and Jiggs make a total of 6.

There is basically only one absolute I fear of at the moment.

If Snake isn't revealed at E3, he's done. That is in my opinion something that we cannot really deny. That would be the best opportunity to reveal him no matter how you slice it.

As far as Mii's go, I can't help but feel like they're in as playable. However, there is no telling at this point. We can't possibly know the Mii's role right now. All I know is that we shouldn't rule anybody with a remote chance out. Especially with that leak still floating around.

My analysis: There will be *40* characters

Here's how I see it...

The number has increased each game. Brawl had 35 plus 4 transformations. SSB4 has split off the transformations into ACTUAL characters.

29 have been announced. Pretty much guaranteed to show up are Captain Falcon, Ness, Jigglypuff, Falco, and Mr. Game & Watch. Ganondorf has good odds too.

There will be 6 playable Pokemon. Lucario is Mewtwo's replacement, and the trio of evolved starters needs to be finished off with a grass type. I looked them over, and either Sceptile or Chesnaught are most likely.

I'm making a prediction of Demon Lord Ghirahim showing up. The Skyloft stage has been featured pretty prominently, and he's PERFECT for Smash (moreso than Bayonetta, who is unfortunately too sexy).

29 + 6 veterans + a grass Pokemon + Ghirahim = 37

There will be 4 unlockables. I'm predicting Mr. Game & Watch, Ganondorf, Demon Lord Ghirahim, and...

King K. Rool (Like Mega Man, he's an obvious choice who's been absent too long...)

That makes 38. I suspect that 2 veteran clones will round it out. I'm betting on one being Meta Knight, since Halberd appears to be back. As for the other...take your pick! ;)

Oh, and Palutena? Stage hazard like Ridley. Also, the Mii will be an assist trophy, if it shows up at all.

So:

Eh?:)

Apparently, that leak stated that Villager, WFT, Mega Man, Little Mac, Pac-Man, and Mii would be revealed at E3. The former three were shown, but the latter three weren't (though we now have Little Mac). That leak didn't say anything about Rosalina, but then again, the leak concerned E3.

I'd imagine that Mega Man would have been shown to generate early hype for the game (which it certainly did). Keeping Mega Man as the last minute hype cap could be a reasonable approach, but if the goal is to maintain sustained interest over time, then going for a highly requested, high profile Third-Party would certainly do the trick.

Yeah, uh... Can I get some reassurance about this? From anyone? What's happened to the "most likely character?"
Probably nothing. Brawl had six playable characters, and SSB4 currently has four. Though with standalone slots this time, Pokemon would get six slots with Jiggs and Mewtwo, meaning Pokemon would take up more space on the Select Screen (and have the most playable characters, unless Mario gets another Newcomer). But this needn't be an obstacle, as both of those characters are deserving of a slot.

It's a funny thought, but if we get Brawl Pokémon + Mewtwo + Greninja, then Pokémon series will have added 2 more characters in EVERY Smash game till date.

I think Ridley pretty much Dead on Arrival guys. Looks like the guy's gonna be a boss again.

IF he's gonna be playable, the that better be MetaRidley who's casting the shadow.

One thing is certain though. IF he's in, don't expect him to be revealed as he's likely an unlockable if that's the case.

Remember that Sakurai isn't gonna reveal the full roster in the dojo. At least not till after launch. So really, I think we'll only see one more newcomer and a few vets get revealed till release.

In fact, we don't have many "official" reveals left. We got May, E3 June, and possibly July.

So here's what I see:

>Wario in May to line up with the MK8 release.
>E3 in June will probably see thr last 3rd party character, the final "starting" newcomer, and a couple vets. My guesses are Snake, ~newcomer~, IC, and... idk, someone.

The newcomer, like the other 6 will probably be someone showcasing a unique flair in terms of playstyle.

>Then in July we get the last of the starting vets assuming E3 didn't showcase all. Unless the game releases then. Or Snake if we're getting 4 3rd partys, which I doubt.

E3 might be all vets and the rest of the newcomers are unlockable. With Snake taking ths spotlight at the show. Then again, last E3 we got 3 character trailers... When is E3 again? Not too far is it?

Anyway, newcomers I think will defo be unlockable but have a fair shot are:

> Palutena, with all the teasing from Sakurai and the leak it's pretty clear she's in.
> Mewtwo, also guaranteef to be in imo, and makes sense would be hidden.
> K.Rool, we saw the Kremlins, which pretty much rocketed his chances in my eyes.
> Isaac, the fact that he wasn't shown along Lyn, Saki, Starfy, and the like during the ATs trailer, certainly implies something.
> Takamaru, I feel he's got a good shot, and eould liy be hidden.

As for Ridley and Shulk. I already said Ridley is pretty much disconfirmed at this point. Shulk's got a good shot I guess. He MIGHT be the E3 newcomer (?), maybe? Idk, I feel he'd be hidden as well. So I suppose one of the other 5 will be the E3 reveal instead.

That makes 12 newcomers total which to me feels like a safe bet. It's kind of a pity we might get K.Rool over Dixie since I woulda preferred her, but oh well... She's still got a shot if K.Rool isn't a char, since a DK newcomer seems almost given. However, with Bowser's playstyle change and the Kremlins, the tables tip in K.Rool's favor.

All other newcomers such as Mii, Pacman, and Chrom I feel are pretty certain NOT to get in. Despite all those (fake) leaks. I'll believe whoever predicted Greninja, however, no one did. Also, the SoulCal vibes I get from the new FD kinda hint the Namco rep (if there is one, would be from that universe - prolly Nightmare).

As for the rest of the vets; Falcon, Ness, Lucas, Ike, G&W, ROB, Dorf, Falco, Wolf, etc.... I think are safe and almost defo hidden chars.

I think Sawr and the Squirts are gone for good, and probably the only cuts we'll see. I suppose Snake and Lucas run a risk, but I hope not. Sakurai DID say there would be cuts.

And anyway, all the revamps mean no more clones, so I'm excited to see what Dorf, Falco, Wolf, and Lucas are like.

Also, Zamus has Cammy's Cannon Spike and Zard has Megaformes. Mac is a beast and Rosa looks awesome. I'm excited to play as those the most.

Am worried about Mewtwo mostly.
This is where I come in to bring forward my arguements.

Of course, if it comes down to Mewtwo vs Jigglypuff, Mewtwo has became far more iconic than Jigglypuff, unlike in the past (and Mewtwo being the face of Mega Evolution helps) and as a result, he's in a better position.
The whole Ivy/Squirtle Fiasco shows that things can change. Mewtwo's like Megaman. Superbly requested and superbly unique.
And now that Sonic isn't a problem, we don't have to worry about him replacing anyone now.

Oh yeah, that's who ZSS reminded me of! Cammy!

As well as cutting two ever since Melee...

I do believe there's no need for competition between :mewtwopm: and :jigglypuffmelee: cause :mewtwopm: is uber popular and promoted a lot lately, whilst :jigglypuffmelee: is just a very easy addition.
