Don't you know about the hacked files on the Brawl disc? There are many sources on the internet where you can find that information. The files indicate that Mewtwo, Roy, Dixie Kong, and Toon Zelda were under development for Brawl, Sonic getting in meant that Sakurai had to SCRAP them.

And I was using Ganondorf as an example as a far more legendary villain than Ghirahim

If there's any franchise that you should worry about being "overrepresented", Pokemon ain't it. Pokemon is a massive multimedia juggernaut to which nothing else in Smash Bros. could possibly compare. Who are you to say it can't get a few more characters than some other franchises?

I wanted Mewtwo, but I got Greninja. I am not disappointed. So since we're down to both Jiigs and Psycat, I would say puff is all the more likely. I'm not ruling out either at this point, just like how i'm not ruling out Ridley. I've been thrown a curve in speculation a ton, so for all we know, all three could be in.

I think it's interesting that he wasn't show in the direct alongside the other Brawl ATs. I think Isaac supporters have a bit of room to be optomistic.

What i'm worried about is the fact that Isaac was an unlockable assist trophy in brawl. If they still do that and isaac is an unlockable again that'd just be terrible

I hope this is the case, i mean the only reason people don't say pokemon had 6 reps is because they didn't have 6 slots. There'd be no arguments about pokemon rep counts in the next game if this is the case.

The surprise character I'm now rooting for, in case you haven't noticed, is Robin. Specifically the female version to keep things fresh. If Shulk gets in over Isaac, Robin could easily take a few cues from his potential moveset.

What happened to Lucina, you ask? Well, I still support her, but...the model I had in mind for her involved her changing forms in battle. Which has been disconfirmed. Then again, that would make her stand out.

I'm hoping Sakurai doesn't use the excuse he's splitting up the transformers to stack the roster. It might make the roster look bigger than it did in Brawl but the real term change is nothing so I'm with you on that one. Surely Sakurai wouldn't troll us that badly, right? *Thinks of everytime Sakurai has trolled him, breaks down and throws laptop out of the window including History essay that's taken all week to complete*

Tetris stage would be awesome. I can imagine the final destination version of just a floating pile of tetris blocks while passing other blocks in the background. I want.

Thats why I kind of expect Vatti, because he fits Sakurai's criteria of being unique and completely unexpected.

But I agree with that sentiment. Because it is inevitable one of us will be right/victorious/there is no right or wrong and everyone wins.

We're running out of space here for characters.

Let's take a look at the Gematsu's leak. It has eleven characters:

Villager
Mega Man
Wii Fit Trainer
Little Mac
Gekkouga (Greninja, but Gekkouga sounds cooler to me)
Pac-Man
Mii
Chrom
Palutena
Shulk
Chorus Guy

That's eleven newcomers. This leak is true, if Gekkouga's inclusion didn't make that clear. That's not to say there's not more out there; Rosalina is in (brings us up to twelve), but we are running out of space.

I'm sure we'll see Mewtwo and a retro newcomer (still going with my underdog choice, Mach Rider), which brings us up to fourteen (counting Melee veterans as a pseudo-newcomer). Assuming there is no Brawl veterans cuts, that brings us up to fifty-three characters; fourteen more than Brawl. And that's the same amount as Melee.

If a character isn't already confirmed, isn't in the Gematsu leak or isn't Melee/a retro character, then the only way we are going to see a potential newcomer is if Sakurai is gracious enough to add more than fourteen newcomers. That's not to say you should despair for characters like King K. Rool or Isaac, but do take precaution and not flaunt them around as shoe-ins. And cutting Brawl veterans will not magically give us more newcomers; that's not how reality works. One only has to take at the current status of the Ridley thread of the consequence of this.

They didn't specify Gekkouga in the leak, but they did mention a Pokémon from X & Y. Gekkouga is a Pokémon from X & Y, so I'm counting it as a validation of the leak.

Like, did he somehow have access to the list of the other newcomers, but not that one aside from it being a "Pokemon character"? Or did he see it but not recognize exactly who it is, but somehow knew enough to know it was from X/Y?

It's fishy. combined with the fact that he didn't get Rosalina at all I'm VERY skeptical.

So I'm just now realizing we're extremely close to seeing the final starting roster for Smash 4.

If Smash 3DS does indeed release as early as Summer 2014 that means we only a have a few more months left. If we continue the trend of 1 character revealed per month + E3 then we're looking at maybe 6-7 characters revealed between now and E3 (it's safe to say that E3 will reveal mutliple characters like what was done with the recent Direct).

All of the Brawl vets we still have yet to see (plus Mewtwo):
Wario
Ganondorf
Ice Climbers
ROB
Meta Knight
Falco
Wolf
Falcon
Jiggs
Ike
Ness
Lucas
G&W
Snake
Mewtwo
Squirtle (cut)
Ivysaur (cut)

Looking at the choices left I'd say Meta Knight, Wario, Ice Climbers, and Mewtwo will be the vets revealed between now and release (plus a few more newcomers) while the rest will most likely be unlockables.

BUT I DO however think there will be a few more cuts since Sakurai has shown he is indeed willing to cut when necessary. I have no idea who it could be but my best guess would be some combination of Lucas, Wolf, Ike, ROB, and Snake. I'd be shocked if it was anyone other than them.

I still think Squirtle and Ivysaur have a possibility.

Think about it.
Since we don't have character transformations, there's no reason to keep them together in one character.
And mind you, it took a while to reveal Zero Suit Samus and Sheik.
Who's to say the same isn't happening here?

With the inclusion of Sheik and ZSS there is no doubt in my mind we will have at least 50 characters. The worry was that there wouldn't be enough space, but since they can bloat the roster up by making them there own characters, I think that means they had more then enough space. This roster should be nice and big.

Well the tetris company do collaborative with a lot of people EA i think make them now and then now. Its sakurai he will take his time to reveal her.

Is salo (can't remember full name) a big Pokémon fan by any chance? If not, then it gives more credit towards the latter scenario. But if so, then as Gamefreak is very protective with their properties, the former could work as well.

As for other newcomers, salo isn't claiming that this is the entire roster, just characters that he knows are in. It would not invalidate the possibility of inclusions like Mewtwo, Takamaru, King K. Rool, Isaac, etc.
