Wouldn't it technically be a good thing that the newcomers are easy to guess? I mean, typically the ones we most expect are the ones we most want (except for Miis, and maybe Pac-Man).If it's not any character outside of the Elite 4, Chrom, and Pac-Miis, then I won't feel any satisfaction mainly because the newcomers are very easy to guess.
It's good, but I don't really feel any satisfaction when jumping to predict the obvious. I love want the more underrated like Layton and Sable to make it because most people don't really predict them, therefore I get better satisfaction from the reveal.
I can relate to that. But more than anything, I get satisfaction from seeing characters I want in the game. Who cares if everyone expected them to be in? It's not like I'm going to shrug off a reveal of Mewtwo just because it was predictable.
I suppose you have a point, but I lean to liking more of the (Smashboards definition of) unlikely more mainly because they are underdogs everyone for some reason pushes away from.
Well, let's face it, everyone has at least one character that is skeptical in terms of odds but still support it.
People usually have good reasons for not expecting certain characters.

The ones that I support are mainly the ones that get the most dragging tires, but they at least have the merits, uniqueness, and make sense (Harry is debatable though) at least to be included as playable, unlike Geno, Gooey, or Slippy for example.

Looks like a pretty good roster overall, but I still haven't been convinced that Ghirahim and Lucina are likely characters.
I know most characters I support most others don't are "unlikely", especially one in specific.

I'm thinking we'll get at least 2 trailers + Mewtwo as a veteran. Mewtwo I think is kind of inevitable. Maybe Snake as well. I'm also thinking we might see King K. Rool since there was no Dixie on Trah Pickle Frees day and Diddy shortly afterwards and before this direct. But, my bets are mostly on Ridley, if not him, Takamaru, if not him, Palutena.

Lucina seems to be deducting the roster in terms of uniqueness and diversity you are reaching for.
The only sense of satisfaction I get from reveals are from ones that I care about. I wouldn't necessarily feel any satisfaction from someone like...(It's hilarious that I can't think of a no-hoper to use right here, because all of them have at least one fan and I don't necessarily like insulting people. Oh, Smashboards, your reasoning is silly.)...I dunno, a Goomba/Koopa duo, despite how "underrated" they may be.
I don't think many people have good reasons for expecting characters and not expecting characters. I wouldn't say it's a USUAL thing.
The same could be said for Chrom.
I have a way Pichu can be unique. It must clearly be plausible if someone thought of it.
Well in terms of diversity, you basically got a standard swords(wom?)an, like Ike and Marth. I don't consider it diverse.

Recent no. But, because one of 13 installments selling well being the deciding factor of the debate whether to continue and make more installments is not a merit for the characters who had nothing to do with it.
I would argue that Lucina did have a factor in the growth of Awakening. Way more so than Chrom. Why?

Palutena is MUCH more important than Dark Pit." It's so ironic because what you expect is to silence me as if it were a rhetorical question. When funnily, the answer to your question is a simple and direct: Yes. But, what's even more ironic is that I expect that it doesn't need an explanation, but to the majority of Smash fans it's all about recency and internationalism automatically triumphing over significance and recurrence. So the mere thought of a Japan Only character in Smash or someone who doesn't live up to your bias and personal views on what YOU and people on YOUR side think should happen, results in you scratching your head and acting like me even bringing up a more significant character is "Highly unorthodox" because he's not muh recent. But, I don't expect to change your mind. So I'll just leave it at this:
