And here is my list of possible new comers that can be included in list order, being the top the most probable to bottom the least probable:

Thing is, all those one-shot characters listed are from established series with multiple titles. They aren't a one-shot character from a one-shot series. So with Shulk it's not just the character battling for representation, it's also the series (as Sakurai doesn't seem to add series lightly given how much content they usually receive - and given how many series are vying for inclusion). It's not really the same thing, as Sakurai takes from the biggest Nintendo series audience, impact, and reception-wise, which is where series with multiple iterations usually have the upper hand.

For a single-game series (prior to roster creation) Xenoblade has a lot going for it, but compared to other Nintendo series, it's also not at the top of the list, even with Shulk's popularity taken into consideration (which is strong on the internet, but considering the commercial reception of Xenoblade, less so among the average consumer).

And to clarify, Shulk is towards the bottom of the top 10 most popular requests in Japan - but possibly the highest of unrepresented series (if not the highest than definite second-highest). In the west, his popularity is strong, but he's outclassed by a few other unrepresented series, especially among more casual consumers. Overall though, he's got a notable amount of demand.

Sounds reasonable. I remember back in the older days when both GS and Lost Age were very popular, but maybe the gap between Lost Age and Dark Dawn may have something to do with shrink in popularity? Kind of a shame, from what I remember from the first golden Sun, he could bring something to the table. But he was an assist trophy in Brawl, was he not? Maybe a slight chance for a graduation, like Little Mac.

It seems that his biggest obstacle will be all the newly represented series that are making it in this time around. Anyways, thanks for answering! That puts Issac in perspective for me.

As for Shulk, its hard for to think whether him being from a one-shot unrepresented series is going for him or against him.

Good roster. Any rationale behind removing Lucas and Wolf? And I like the organization as well.

Seems solid, but any rationale behind removing Lucas and Wolf? And I like the organization as well.
I want to keep my roster with a minimum of 46 roster slots or if you want 50 playable characters counting transformations. The reason I cut Wolf and Lucas it was to open more spaces so I can add two new comers and get a total of 12 new playable characters, seems what Sakurai is aiming respecting new comers. Other probable cuts were Falco and Ike.

Thanks I am glad that you like the organization.

Yeah, around Brawl he had the most going for him. Unfortunately his competition back then also had more going for them than his competition now.
If what he had then was present now, he'd be a lot likelier, that's for sure. The years haven't exactly been kind to him, but at least his series is still "current" with a game post-Brawl, unlike Custom Robo for example.

But he was an assist trophy in Brawl, was he not? Maybe a slight chance for a graduation, like Little Mac.
Well he's definitely the likeliest remaining AT to "graduate".

It seems that his biggest obstacle will be all the newly represented series that are making it in this time around. Anyways, thanks for answering! That puts Issac in perspective for me.
Np. ;)

I'd say it's definitely not a point in his favour, but he still might have enough to overcome such an obstacle, which would be a first for a non-retro. Really having another title in his series, even if he wasn't present in it could only be a positive as I see it, it would just give the series more exposure, which would help towards his chances.

I wouldn't say Isaac's chances are "good" but I also wouldn't say they're "bad". He lands somewhere in the middle. His inclusion is definitely within the realm of possibility, and I personally believe he's more likely than... most remaining characters from unrepresented series (not all). I think people overlook the fact that in the past Sakurai has taken from series that have left the biggest impacts, even if the peak of the impact isn't exactly recent, such as Samus, Marth, and Ness. And while people like to act like GS has always been incredibly niche (as unfortunately is has gotten much more niche than it used to be), the first two games in the series did receive reception... roughly on par with the first two Pikmin games, and both Isaac and GS did have popularity worldwide. Ofc at this point it has become predominantly western-based (not solely western as some people think).
I personally find him to have a decent chance. I think he has the edge over Shulk for being a recurring character in a classic-ish series and having abilities that would translate easily and nicely to a fighting game.

What can this character do?
The Shulk supporter says, "Well, he can use his sword, the Monado, to warp time and space, and only he can do it"
The Isaac supporter's just like, "oh yeah, broadsword and earth magic."

Well when it comes to Roy I'm not clueless or anything, but any questions should probably still be directed to you. ;)
Oh yeah, if you have any questions about Roy, feel free to ask me. I know A LOT, like his child life, how he become leader of his army, how he defeated the demon dragon, his pet peeves and likes, his favourite foods, the shampoo that he uses... the stuff toy that he sleeps with. Yep, the list just keeps going on...

:troll:

Yeah the beginning is a bit of a grind, especially with all that text, but it definitely picks up.
Nice to know it picks up. I remember the beginning with that catastrophic event happening and whatnot, and I thought that was interesting, and I do like RPGs, so hopefully I'll finish the game!

I am by no means a Roy supporter (he was an inferior clone to Marth, after all), and wouldn't care at all for his inclusion, but I feel that his massive popularity in Japan can't be ignored or brushed aside. It would obviously not be in Intelligent System's best interest to bring back Roy yet skip out on a Awakening newcomer, but I wonder if Roy does even have a remote chance of coming back alongside an Awakening newcomer, de-cloned somewhat?
Right, I find it's best to get opinions and whatnot from different people as much as possible with questions like these. So here's what I have to say on the matter...

Roy's popularity is sure something in Japan -- it's crazy for a character like Roy when you think about it (now why he become highly requested, well, that's another complicated story which we still haven't found a direct answer to. We can only speculate, but that's for another time haha). His popularity is pretty good in the West also, so it's not like his inclusion will only cater to Japan. However, Japan did get FE6 (big game, could be considered a revival to the series, at least from Japan's perspective), so they kinda have that advantage if they like Roy via FE6, though liking Roy just because of Melee is legitimate as well.

I'll be quite honest with you, a character who was once planned for Brawl, highly requested in both Japan and in the West, and even positively commented on by the creator (what did Sakurai say? Something like "you may like this character's playstyle and will fall in love with his charm" <-- something along those lines -- it's on his Melee dojo page anyway. It's also been speculated that Sakurai may have added in Roy as more of a personal choice, along with is fire aesthetics) seems like a very likely choice. But Roy does have competition (I'm sure you know who, Ike included) and many people cringe at his clone status.

Roy does have his merits though, as with characters like Chom, Robin, and other newcomers.

See, IS can suggest things (i.e. Sakurai doesn't know which FE newcomer to add and asks them like what happened pre-Brawl), however, I don't think IS is that controlling (like they'll refuse to let Sakurai add Roy), at least not as much as the Pokemon Company (y u so picky, PC?). I don't think Sakurai has to oblige to a suggestion. In this case, if Sakurai wants to add Chrom, I think that one of the major reasons may be that he sees something more in Chrom -- something that will make him a worthwhile addition -- rather than just adding him because he's the most recent and successful Lord... at least I hope so. I mean, who knows for sure...

Anyway, 4 FE characters may be pushing it for some, but it's not impossible. FE is a long running Strategy RPG series (and niche one at that) that miraculously still manages to pump out games regularly. We don't really know how Sakurai views these things, or if 4 FE characters might be pushing it for him. Although I must note that he is a fan of the series, so in the end I doubt we'll be lacking in FE content, however, I will be disappointed if we don't get at least 3 FE characters. I'm personally fine with four, but maybe it's because I'm slightly bias in this sense. Better to get different opinions in this.

With the upcoming SMT x FE game, I'm really hoping will see a full FE on Wii U. I'm glad the series is getting a spin-off game, and perhaps the game is to test the FE series on the console... SO FE WII U GO GO GO!!

So, does Roy have a chance at returning, along with an Awakening newcomer? I think so, though I'm not sure how likely; I think it depends on what path Sakurai wants to take in the end. I'm assuming you're including Ike as well, so, for example, let's say the FE roster is: Marth, Ike, Roy, Chrom. If Chrom's going to share some similarities to Marth or Ike, I think it would be best if Roy's de-cloned (very easy thing to do giving what he can offer. Feel free to ask if you'd like me to further explain). The thing is, I do have trouble seeing Roy being 100% unique, maybe as a Lucas/Wolf at best (if Roy shares some moves it might be easier to implant anyway). I will make my judgment if we do see characters like Falco and Ganon. If they've been decloned or at least more unique, then I'll probably have more hope in Roy becoming the same.

My problem is this: what if Sakurai goes to IS hoping for a FE newcomer suggestion and the company suggests Chrom (for obvious reasons). Now, like I've said before, I don't think IS is that controlling that they HAVE to have Chrom playable (Awakening content could always be represented with things other than characters), but I just can't see them recommending anyone else other than Chrom. Maybe if we get a similar situation with Roy, or maybe if IS suggests some other FE character for god-knows-what, I'm not sure. The only other reason is if a FE6 remake is in the works, which we don't know and I doubt. Like I'm having a hard time seeing anyone else, but if someone can prove me wrong, then by all means DO IT!

I hope Roy's popularity isn't ignored. Sometime Sakurai does try to get popular requests in as best as he can -- Saki being an AT is an example (read Saki's dojo page for more info). We'll see how the FE franchise is handled; it's actually a series that I'm really anxious on.

I'm so sorry, this is what happens when I write something when I'm overly tired.

In short, I do believe Roy is in a good position of returning, but he does have competition, notably Ike (returning vet), Chrom, or a surprising choice like Robin (though I personally think it'll be Roy vs Chrom). Also depends what path Sakurai wants to take -- getting 4 FE characters isn't impossible, but different people will have different opinions whether they're okay with this many characters. If characters like Falco/Ganon become decloned I will have more faith in Roy becoming the same.

It doesn't influence ****, really.

Unless, again, there is some sort of magical criteria that says something can't get in because it's to recent or only has one installment I'm unaware of.

It's weird, N3ON shoots down arguments that go against Isaac, but promotes arguments that go against Shulk...

How does the reveal of a Metroid AT impact Ridley's chances in any way? Should we expect Tom Nook because Sakurai revealed Isabelle on Friday?

Yes it does! Think about it this way: Ridley is not an assist trophy, not a hazard in the Pyrosphere stage, and most certainly not a confirmed boss, Ridley can be playable!
Yeah

And?

Metroid being an AT doesn't confirm or deny any of those things.

We also don't know this.

We don't know if boss mode will return, so I'll give you this one.

Ridley can be playable, but he can also still be an AT or a stage hazard. Metroid could easily have 3 ATs, though personally I think the big man will end up being a boss hazard like Yellow Devil and Twinrova.

Yeah, but if PizzaDudeManGuy addresses the conformation of the Metroid Assist Trophy on his channel, don't come crying to me, all I'm saying is that we're one step closer!

To be honest, the Metroid doesn't mean much towards Ridley's chances. Unless we get a Pyrosphere update tomorrow, try not to jump the gun and get your hopes up. You will be disappointed.

It's alright to hope for him, but when dealing with Sakurai try to go in expecting nothing. It's a good way to derive maximum enjoyment and surprise from it.

I get so creeped out by Dr. Kawashima, and I really don't know why. Maybe it's the whole disembodied head thing. It's kind of the same beef I have with Andross.
Perhaps, it could be that he invokes the "Uncanny Valley" effect due to being a human head that looks semi-real, but feels very animatronic-like.

The Metroid AT doesn't do much to help Ridley honestly. I mean, it was in Brawl afterall, and we all know how well that went. Ridley's one obstacle he needs to overcome is jumping from being a boss to a playable character, he was never really in great danger of being an AT.

The most wanted/talked about character for Smash Bros. really should be revealed in a Nintendo Direct exclusively about Smash Bros. It's the perfect time I tell ya!

I want to say that they will get Palutena's reveal out of the way with the direct, if that leak is real. Of course, if Snake is in too, he'd bring the hype. Same goes for Mewtwo. Not sure if the other popular choices like Ridley or K. Rool will be shown off before E3 though. As for older characters, I want to see Wario the most. I'm interested in what changes can be made to him.

Either way, I'm hoping that "Riddle the Lavender Space Dino" is in.

Hey, the Metroid sucks health...that means the Mii will be revealed, since it just flat out sucks.

It's going to be crazy if there's another Metroid themed update tomorrow morning.

Although I kind of like the Mii theory. The "peaceful town" is actually Miiverse? That may actually sell the fans on Mii, if Ridley comes as a two-in-one package - perhaps massacring the Miis. It'd be a good way to showcase how most players would use the Miis, anyway.
