So I had a dream last night where I was talking to Sakurai about Smash Bros, and he showed me a trophy of Ghirahim, glared at me, and walked away.

I think it was supposed to be a bad dream.

What we need is Old Snake because we haven't seen any old fighters appearing in SSB :troll:

I had a dream that Viridi was confirmed as a playable character.

Dreams mean nothing.

I saw someone mention Hikari.

I'd actually be very happy if she got in. Especially if her default design was based off Captain Rainbow.
But what would her moveset even be like?

Old Snake needs to be a skin for Snake that's unlocked after the final smash of the Villager is used. Time travel, in which the Villager sleeps and now all the competitors are old and take damage from weeds everywhere.

I guess it's because she's "Peach with actual personality" or something like that.
I dunno, I just saw her as annoying.
It's all because Miyamoto gave her the personality of an anime genki girl, as well as that infamous "Hi, I'm Daisy!" catchphrase. All could have been avoided if he didn't give her such a cancerous quote.

This feels yet again familiar...

Thanks Miyamoto!!!

Here's the thing though.
I don't mind energetic characters,

But there's fine line between charming and adorable.
Daisy didn't just cross that line, she flat out ignored it.

No. He doesnt come here anymore because he hates us all for not liking Leif.
I loved how he would say Rosalina couldn't have been a Peach clone because she doesn't use a parosol or sports eqiupment and doesn't pull turnips, yet says Dixie can be a Diddy clone dispite never using a peanut popgun or jet pack. Oh how I'll miss his contradicting claims and his superiority complex.

I get so creeped out by Dr. Kawashima, and I really don't know why. Maybe it's the whole disembodied head thing. It's kind of the same beef I have with Andross.

Replace "Peanut" with "Gumball" and "jet pack" with "rocket bongos" and the comparison falls flat.
Hate to say it, but Saturn was right on that one.

I think we should all take a moment from our arguments to mourn the loss of the off topic Undertaker's undefeated streak at Wrestlemania. His fights may have been scripted, and the WWE may be terrible now, comapared to the old days, but that streak was literally a part of my childhood.

Ok, go back to smash talk now. I'll be here, questioning the perplexing fabrics of mankind.

(@KingBro1, now I have two things to be upset about. THANKS.)

Replace sports equipment with wand and turnips with starbits, and the argument falls flat. This was argued to him, but he said it doesn't work like that.

Like I said, I'm not here to talk bad about people, but some of the things he said we're dumb. I'll never get over him arguing with us and then calling us idiots over at GameFAQs. Ugh...

Not that it matters, Krool is definitely the better choice.

You would think someone who is so good at predicting characters wouldn't have to drastically change their roster every other week.

...Despite the amount of likes my earlier post received, no one answered my questions about Roy and Isaac

:troll:

I've already told myself that, if Ridley isn't included, I likely will only rent the game (because I'm not impressed/convinced enough to buy it at launch otherwise), but if this were the roster, I probably wouldn't even rent it or buy it later.

EDIT: In case anyone wants to jump down my throat about "NO RIDLEY NO BUY", it's more like "If Ridley's in, I will buy". Think of it this way: I'm not buying the game by default. However, if Ridley is in, that will convince me to buy the game when I otherwise would not. It's not like I'm overcoming my intense want for the game just to spite Sakurai, it's that I'm genuinely unimpressed with the game so far (besides Little Mac <3) and I don't really have a reason to buy it unless one of my favorite characters is added.
This. There is a very good chance that I won't even buy the game. I'm hoping this upcoming direct, game mechanics explanation, and final roster will convince me otherwise. While I'll give credit for pulling in Megaman, Little Mac and making Rosalina very unique, I'm hardly sold with the Newcomers thus far.

The fact that you assume people would jump down your throat for buying or not buying based on the roster is indicative of how pathetically low roster standards are among much of the fanbase.
Despite all my support, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Palutena, Ridley, K. Rool, Mewtwo got the shaft and cuts happened. Yeah, I honestly don't expect from the roster at this point. I hope Sakurai proves me wrong, and I'll gladly eat up my own words.

Replace "Peanut" with "Gumball" and "jet pack" with "rocket bongos" and the comparison falls flat.

This is why arguing about the unique potentials of characters has become extremely pointless, as many people will twist and cherry pick anything and everything to better fit their viewpoint. Every character can be unique, yet every character can also easily be a clone. Dixie has the tools to be unique from Diddy, but so did Toon Link, Falco, and Lucas. Chrom supporters are guilty of this too, thinking up cool ideas like stance or use of lances, but I have to ask if you honestly think that's going to happen? It's fine to argue about the potential of such characters, but you also have to be realistic.

Not that it matters, Krool is definitely the better choice.
Now you're just taking the easy way out. You're no fun :troll:

I have another question: why do people think Shulk has a chance? For a character that has only appeared in one game, I would assume the circumstances surrounding him and his game makes him stand out as an exception. Is he just flavor of the year? Or does he really have what it takes to make it onto the Nintendo all-star roster? I'm generally curious on what you guys think, since I'm pretty ignorant about him overall.

Ness only appeared in EarthBound before Smash 64.

Ganondorf (in human form, not as Ganon) only appeared in Ocarina of Time before Melee.

Roy's game wasn't even released before Melee.

Lucas only appeared in Mother 3 before Brawl.

Lucario only appeared in Pokemon Diamond/Pearl (I'm not a hardcore Pokemon fan, so someone please correct me if I'm wrong) before Brawl.

I was the one who brought her up. But yeah Idk what her moves would be. I don't know much about her game. Personally I would prefer her kid design from the trophy in melee.

He's right in context of the wand.

Think of swinging a golf club/tennis racket/frying pan. Now think of using a dinky wand being swung the same way.
Doesn't look right, does it?

As for the Star Bits, it's kind of a stretch to make them function like Vegetables.

...so im expecting some cool things for the direct (conffirmation of DLCs, changes between smash U and 3DS, character customization, good online) and i think Mii is definitely the best choise for this kind of event.

Ridley and Mewtwo can be anounced any day, but if the Miis are playable we seriously need to know in detail how they work.

If the wand is powered up by magic, and what do you mean by function like a vegetable? In any case he said it doesn't work like that because the character HAS to be able to use the same abilities/equipment of the other character in their games, which Dixie isn't. Also, I'm pretty sure he said she could be a clone of Diddy before the bubble gun was shown off and I'm pretty sure he said her hair would be her recovery, not the rocket barrels.

You didn't explain that earlier. In that case, yeah, he's wrong.

Teamwork! :awesome:

Though, I'm sure you know a lot about Roy...

I should get back to playing GS. I was like at the beginning and then I just stopped. I gotta get used to the menus...

When it comes to Roy, I know extensively on how the character plays in both Super Smash Bros. Melee and Project M. But then again this isn't anything special, generally knowing the varies quirks of every character is a priority because it allows me to get familiar with a character quickly and conversely know how the opponent will operate.

Well when it comes to Roy I'm not clueless or anything, but any questions should probably still be directed to you. ;)

Yeah the beginning is a bit of a grind, especially with all that text, but it definitely picks up.

Pokemon Diamond/Pearl?
Nonono, Pokemon Diamond AND Pokemon Pearl. That's two games, bud. Argument invalid. :troll:

...

(Lucario made a cameo in both versions of the first Mystery Dungeon games. This was actually his first appearance in a game, funny enough. Granted, it was just as a statue.)

I am by no means a Roy supporter (he was an inferior clone to Marth, after all), and wouldn't care at all for his inclusion, but I feel that his massive popularity in Japan can't be ignored or brushed aside. It would obviously not be in Intelligent System's best interest to bring back Roy yet skip out on a Awakening newcomer, but I wonder if Roy does even have a remote chance of coming back alongside an Awakening newcomer, de-cloned somewhat?
@ N3ON N3ON
And I have a hard time gauging Isaac's (Golden Sun) chance in this game, since I've dropped out of the Golden Sun fandom following the first game. Does he even have a good chance? I ask because while I don't particularly care for him, I would much rather have him then another Mario/Zelda/Kirby/Star Fox newcomer.
Thanks in advance for putting up with my Salt
(nah, it's all good, I just figured people didn't want to get sucked into a FE discussion/debate again rofl)

Seems fair to me. Does he have the popularity to get in, then? I have no idea how popular he is outside of this forum (as I'm ignorant of him overall). A lot of people seem sure of his inclusion.

I wouldn't say Isaac's chances are "good" but I also wouldn't say they're "bad". He lands somewhere in the middle. His inclusion is definitely within the realm of possibility, and I personally believe he's more likely than... most remaining characters from unrepresented series (not all). I think people overlook the fact that in the past Sakurai has taken from series that have left the biggest impacts, even if the peak of the impact isn't exactly recent, such as Samus, Marth, and Ness. And while people like to act like GS has always been incredibly niche (as unfortunately is has gotten much more niche than it used to be), the first two games in the series did receive reception... roughly on par with the first two Pikmin games, and both Isaac and GS did have popularity worldwide. Ofc at this point it has become predominantly western-based (not solely western as some people think).

I think given Sakurai's apparent increased focus on originality Isaac's vast potential is a point in his favour, as is his enduring popularity, with even Dark Dawn at least keeping the series afloat in the few years prior to roster selection. Not to mention depending on how much Sakurai is drawing from results on the Brawl poll (as he did with Mega Man) it could be another benefit to Isaac, as he likely scored relatively well of the remaining characters yet to be playable. However that's only a possible boon, not anything definite.

On the other hand, GS's popularity in Japan has taken a rather harsh nosedive, and while requests for him are still intermittent, they are no where near what they were at one point. Sakurai isn't drawing solely from Japanese demand, but having popularity there would've definitely helped. Plus Dark Dawn's reception was fairly lukewarm and now GS has an unsure future, though that's not a nail in the coffin as far as his chances are concerned (though it's not good).

Given the amount of new series already added, and the ones still likely to be included (a retro, Mii, Pac-Man) Isaac very well might miss the boat again, imo it really comes down to how many new series Sakurai ends up including, because Isaac and GS are relatively high on the list of remaining series, but they're not at the top. He seems like the type of character that would just make it in Sakurai's initial wave of original (non-semi-clone) newcomers if he were to be included.

So... his chances are... ok. Not superb, but not horrible. I think a little better than most people give him credit for (I personally see him as likelier than Shulk - but not by much - and most people don't), but it is quite a toss-up either way.

Well, if we're talking in general, my understanding is that he's one of if not THE most popular actual newcomer in Japan. Certainly up there.

Over here, he's also got a sizeable fanbase in the U.S. definitely reaching outside of SWF, and is of course popular with relevancy people for the wrong reasons.

I also understand Sakurai has friends at the company, this may or may not influence things in any way, and it's unverifiable, so just food for thought.

I wish I could give you actual numbers, but I'm not great at digging.
