Let's be honest here.
You now that gut feeling you get when you think something might end up being a bit too powered?
That's the feeling I get with this..

Though if anything, simply cut the "grab opponents" bit out and then it'll work.

The Miis are seriously hostile territory, just one issue can cause a sea of complaints, and even more complaints of being too OP than Ridley detractors can throw out literally bombard you...regardless, I have an idea that may make it work well while being very unique. Allow me to explain...

Basically, the Mii's design effects weight, speed and power respectively. the larger the Mii, the stronger and slower, the smaller, the faster but weaker, and that's not all, that's just face value...introducing an idea of selectable sets of moves to choose from. Of course, that also adds on to how much damage you can take

There are a total of five different sets:

#1: Brawler (Up-close character with no projectiles to use, relies on up-close attacks. Can feature all sorts of things featured in all Mii games)

#2: Sniper (A distance-coverage character, but has little-to-no skill fighting up close, features many tossing weapons at different angles)

#3: Trickster (Uses traps and tricks to fight, overall strength is low but speed is decent. Out-predicting opponents is key to use this fighting style properly)

#4: Dogfighter (A character whose skill in battling comes in the air as opposed to the ground. Moves are usually used to get the opponent up in the air, good at juggling, strength and speed is average)

#5: All-Round (The balanced set of all four, having something for everyone while having no strengths but no weaknesses, recommended for beginners)

These moves can come from anything...Wii Sports, Pilotwings Resort, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Play, Wii Party, NintendoLand, etc. This is, like the Mii, entirely up to your own decision, no creation of move-sets, but still unique all the same.

And @TumblrFamous...I'm completely fine with it, in fact, having her as an assist trophy is a hell of a lot better than just a background character. That goes to show that she's just too popular to leave out of the fight, even though it's not directly fighting. I mean c'mon, even Sakurai congratulated her appearance.

Well, designing movesets IS what I do.

I'd say I'm the best at what I do...but I'm not a narcissist...and I don't have a Wolverine avatar.

I think we're missing the point here.
Let me put it this way.

Let's say you mained Mii.
You had a one stock lead and you wanted to keep it that way.
What would you rather do?
Try to fight back?
Or use the ability to fling your opponents to the point where they can't do much?

It's not rocket science.

So this direct got me thinking...

So I believe we could get the newcomer at the beggining of the direct, just to build hype. Then, we get a view of Mr. Sakurai speaking into the camera, rocking a fabulous skin tight shirt, of course. He explains the character, and shows some more gameplay. Then, we see more features of the game, possibly online, maybe the custom modes. After the explanation, Mr. Sakurai shows off a few more veterans through these trailers. At the end, Mr. Sakurai pulls a surprise twist! Another newcomer! Then at the end of the trailer, we finally get our release date.

SPEAKING of the new Smash Direct,if it's going to be as long as a regular Direct (40 min),we should expect atleast 2 new characters (10 - 18 min) Then the rest should be gameplay footage. By that,I mean watch Sakurai show us how things like new items will work and ****.

It's a SMASH Direct... I didn't see anything about other games being shown.

This is Nintendo.
They had a Direct supposedly all about Pokemon.
It had some info about other games.

Not saying that's a bad thing though.

Perhaps, but Smash is a huge thing and there's alot to talk about and be said that we don't know as of yet. To be honest, they could easily fit in an entire Direct talking about Smash Bros. Not to mention we also have no idea how long they're planning on making said direct either.

Not to mention they seem to be showing off videos of their other games ahead of time, especially that beautiful new Mario Kart 8 trailer (That Rainbow Road remix was fantastic)

Is it bad that I actually like the design of Other M Ridley?

Maybe I'm used to it at this point, but he certainly looks like he would fit.

As for the nintendo directs possibilities on characters, if only 1 then I would think the more popular characters have the greatest chance to be shown off. So Ridley, Palutena, come to mind.

Though, if he would show off another, then maybe a slightly more curveball character could show up...or another popular character.
