I know for a fact Pandora's Tower and Xenoblade are owned by Nintendo, and I'm fairly certain they own the rights to Last Story (and therefore Zael). Is Zael second party or first party?
Everywhere I look I see people talking about how Nintendo funded and helped develop the game, and how they actually own the IP (which wouldn't be odd, publishers often retain IP rights, look at Bayonetta being owned by Sega and not Platinum, for example.... or even Treasure and Nintendo with Sin and Punishment) I can't find any actual source stating this, though.Mistwalker has developed games for other consoles in the past. Nintendo was just the publisher in JP and EU with Xseed involved with the release of the NA version. I assume this means that Mistalker still owns the IP related to the Last Story but I may be wrong.

Sounds about right.
SO THEN IT'S PSUEDO PALUTENA IN THE LEAK?!? Say WHAAAAT??
Sorry, Mario had already said that "Tiers 4 R Queers!"People are making tier lists?
Yay I started a trend!
Well, that was from much earlier in development. So there's definitely a chance it was changed so that it only spikes enemies downward. But I have a feeling that you could be right. Pikachu's Thunder might need to hit a sweet spot in order spike. This is just pure speculation but I think Pikachu's thunder will only be a meteor smash if the character only touches the tip of the lightning, in other words, it seems to work as before if you hit the side of the thunder.
Unless they completely changed it for whatever reason I think you can kill both in the ceiling and meteor smashing.
I'd say add a retro rep.So, I was wondering if I could get some input for my roster, seeing as (some of) you guys know your stuff, I took Krystal off and now I need a replacement.
I'm not going to add Isaac or Saki, since I think Mac is the only assist upgrade, and no Dixie since I've settled on only one DK newcomer. Any ideas?
Already have Takamaru and Lip.I'd say add a retro rep.
Wii Fit Trainer. He's bound to bring in someone we've never heard of (or at least, never considered).
Implying we can't have another oddball rep.Already have Takamaru and Lip.
Wii Fit Trainer.
I'm honestly thinking of just going with a Zelda newcomer, but that's really tricky to guess.
Great roster. So, I was wondering if I could get some input for my roster, seeing as (some of) you guys know your stuff, I took Krystal off and now I need a replacement.

THE CHART DEMANDS BLACK SHADOW OR ZELDA CHARACTER.STier Essentially, these characters are basically a given.ATier While not completely obvious, these characters certainly have an amazing resume. They certainly would fit in the game perfectly, even if not everybody is interested in seeing them.BTierThese guys sort of fill in the blanks of what's left that's really "necessary". They also have very nice resumes as well, but they can't really compare to the above two rows. The game would be more or less fine without these guys in it, but they'd certainly be welcome additions!CTierThis tier is filled with more of the "would be nice, but not incredibly necessary" cast. Several of these characters can also appear in place of some characters in the BTier, but they aren't as likely for various reasons.DTierHere, we have pretty much anyone with a fairly below average chance. This is more of a compilation of anybody that's left with a decent chance at being playable, even if some are arguably a whole lot more likely than others.ETierI dunno what to say. It's an ETier, what do you make of it?
Mii.So, I was wondering if I could get some input for my roster, seeing as (some of) you guys know your stuff, I took Krystal off and now I need a replacement.

See, this is the problem, he adds one oddball rep and suddenly people think we're going to get five more. Admittedly, my line of thinking for Krystal was that Rosalina was her ticket in, though I've since thought that over, which is why I'm looking for a replacement. Even going by past games, if you count Mr. Game & Watch and R.O.B. as the oddballs, they were still the only ones for Melee and Brawl respectively, we just got our oddball character early this time.Implying we can't have another oddball rep.
I highly doubt a one-off character will ever make the cut, so I'm honestly leaning towards Tingle. Though I'd rather avoid a Zelda rep entirely.Great roster.
Tingle/Gihrahim I hink would be a good addition. Whichever one you prefer.
Mentioned the Zelda rep already, but I seriously doubt a second F-Zero character. Though Black Shadow is better than Goroh at least.Hmm....
THE CHART DEMANDS BLACK SHADOW OR ZELDA CHARACTER.
this is my advice
Mii.
As mentioned by Mr. Pikmin here, Miis are already clearly there.@ JamesDNaux I would probably suggest Mii. But looks like you have on the player icon already??
My personal recommendation would be a Zelda newcomer, perhaps Tetra. You mentioned that youd'd like to avoid a Zelda newcomer, but since you have that free space, and since there are some good character choices from the Zelda franchise, why not add one?So, I was wondering if I could get some input for my roster, seeing as (some of) you guys know your stuff, I took Krystal off and now I need a replacement.

What about Bandana Dee?So, I was wondering if I could get some input for my roster, seeing as (some of) you guys know your stuff, I took Krystal off and now I need a replacement.

See the bolded, I don't want to add one because Zelda is a rare case of multiple actually plausible characters to chose from, and no matter who you pick, you're going to be wrong with someone. It's just incredibly hard to chose when there are so many options, though I genuinely don't think we'll get anyone. My personal recommendation would be a Zelda newcomer, perhaps Tetra. I'm staying away from that can of worms. What about Bandana Dee?
I don't think Sakurai is going to add Miis just for the sake of adding them, he would go all out and make them customize-able, which wouldn't really work as a slot on the roster, hence my placement of them next to the names, which were used to select your custom controls. Just seems like the place for a custom option. So do you guys think that Miis will get their own slot? Or will they be selected from the player icons like JamesDNaux's? I think the former is more likely.
Couldn't the same have been said about the Mario series? Those Toad/Bowser Jr./Waluigi/Paper Mario fans seemed kind of ticked off when Rosalina popped up.See the bolded, I don't want to add one because Zelda is a rare case of multiple actually plausible characters to chose from, and no matter who you pick, you're going to be wrong with someone. @ Starcutter
You're right, I'll just add Krystal back.
Up to you then. You know, maybe I could add Prince Sable to my roster, he seems to be the hip new choice among leakers.
What can you pull off from Tingle that would make him very unique then? That's what I would like to know.Couldn't the same have been said about the Mario series? Those Toad/Bowser Jr./Waluigi/Paper Mario fans seemed kind of ticked off when Rosalina popped up.
I think that rather of helps my point, people all thought those characters were the obvious choices for a Mario rep and then bam, Rosalina. Going by that logic, we wouldn't get Tingle, Toon Zelda, Vaati, or Ghirahim, but who would be Zelda's "Rosalina?" I'm still of the opinion that we aren't getting a new Zelda character, since we seem to be getting quite the few items from the series, almost like they're making up for the lack of a character. Technically, Zelda and Mario are even with reps now when you count Sheik. I'm leaning towards another new series rep, it is possible to get a second assist upgrade too...Couldn't the same have been said about the Mario series? I could be wrong but I find it more reasonable than a spike by just scratching one frame of a long animation.Well, that was from much earlier in development. So there's definitely a chance it was changed so that it only spikes enemies downward. But I have a feeling that you could be right. Pikachu's Thunder might need to hit a sweet spot in order spike.

Well from Zelda we have Sheik.See, this is the problem, he adds one oddball rep and suddenly people think we're going to get five more. Well, there is the possibility of Tetra being in solo. That would be my personal choice for a 5th Zelda character, as it rounds out the Zelda roster while providing us with one, unique character.I'm not too sure about the chances of a Zelda newcomer, but I think it will definitely be someone from the Toon Link games - Tingle and Toon Zelda/Tetra seem likely.
Toon Zelda/Tetra is a dilemma. On one hand they seem easy additions that are reasonably popular, but their inclusion would bump up the number of Zelda characters to seven, which the Zelda series doesn't deserve to be frank. So imo Tingle, despite his unpopularity would be a better choice.
Do you consider Pit a retro? (just curious)I personally still see Little Mac as a retro. But that's just me. The reason I see it that way is that his appeal still largely stems from his NES popularity, and the fact that he did appear in Brawl before this game, although he wasn't playable.
Little Mac's design and interpretation in Smash 4 is largely based off of Punch Out Wii.I personally still see Little Mac as a retro. But that's just me.
