By the way, you people would of went insane during Brawl speculation.

During that time, there was a really noticeable gap with news. Like between E3 2006 and March 2007, the only thing that was revealed was the return of Fox.

I'm sure I would have. Especially with the uprising of Geno support and other things. I've already been told about a lot of crazy things that happened. So I'd say I'm glad to have missed that.

I want a reveal that will cause huge controversy.

Once those two get revealed, then I won't really care. I mean, I always played as Mario until I tried Sonic and Snake. But Ike and Snake are my home boys. I can't wait to see them get revealed.

I agree with the tier list specifically not playing any role in his removal, but hypothetically, if Mewtwo and Falco had reversed positions on the tier list, and experienced that corresponding increase and decrease in fanbase popularity, respectively, don't you think Mewtwo might have become a greater priority or Falco might have become less of one? At the very least, Mewtwo wouldn't have hordes of Pokemon douchebags petitioning for his removal for god knows what reason.

Actually, no, I don't.
I really doubt Sakurai cared about how characters fared on an American tier list of competitive gameplay Sakurai didn't even intend on making.

I might get flamed somewhat for this, but I think Mewtwo was passed up because him and Lucario were similar. (Not a clone, just similar. A somewhat heavy and floaty pokemon)

I'm not suggesting that Lucario replaced Mewtwo, but rather his similarity may have convinced Sakurai to pass on him.

...Or maybe he just ran out of time and had to make a choice.

As far as personal beliefs go, I highly doubt Sakurai gave much of a care, if any, how Mewtwo fared competiviely as far as character selections go. Ergo, I really don't believe his tier rating contributed to his being cut. However, it certainly didn't help his standing either.

But if Sakurai actually believed characters should be cut because of bad tier ratings, wouldn't characters like Jigglypuff and even Ganondorf be cut, too?

I can't say I agree, those similarities are more superficial between the two, especially compared to examples like Falco, Toon Link, or even Lucas who are more similar to their precursors. Plus, that's not likely the case based on the data. Mewtwo was the furthest along of all the cut characters, so he was designed, had music data and the like despite the "similar" Lucario being made alongside him. So overall, I don't think similarities was the reasons, just that Mewtwo got really unlucky when it came to the distribution of time and resources.

Based on Sakurai not favoring cuts, I think it was just a matter of who would create the least amount of damage as far as backlash. I would say he made the right choices.

I would also say that IF Sakurai took note of the people wanting him cut, then maybe that could have something to do with it. I doubt that though because of the reasons they wanted him cut.

If Mewtwo does not get in due to Sakurai believing he poses similarities to Lucario (which I kinda disagree which) I think I'll cry uncontrollably in a corner for the majority of my life...

Okay, I'm joking. I suppose it could happen, but with characters being similar to others already, I think that'd be a very strange reason. What's more believable is if the Pokemon Company flat out rejects the idea of Mewtwo (for whatever reason) or wants other Pokemon to have top priority. But since Mewtwo is at his prime now, I find it hard to believe they'd be that controlling if Sakurai wants Mewtwo in.

If they do that for Zelda and Sheik, they should do it for Samus and Zero Suit Samus.

Probably not for the Pokemon Trainer, though, since the point of that character is to swap between Pokemon. They should do something about the Stamina thing, however.

Absolutely not.

Sheik was the entire reason Zelda got in really. The switching concept was what made them unique for Melee. Add that to the fact that they're the same person, and that wouldn't make any sense.

Alright well maybe that was an exaggeration. But Sheik was incredibly important to Zelda in Melee. It just wouldn't make any sense to split them up.
