You are wrong

Jigglypuff has never even gotten an article on smogon after all these years, and meowth still has the little cup on his side. He was OU for little cup in gen 4.

If anything, Meowth's absence from gen 6 made him more popular. I've seen people offering up xerneas and yveltal for a meowth pre bank because they needed him for their dex. Appearance in a gen really shouldn't matter, as meowth is supposed to be a rare pokemon outside kanto.

and they're i"nsisting on referring to jigglypuff" because this conversation started about who would replace jigglypuff if she left.
I would love to trade a Pokemon for a level 1 Meowth. Don't care for nature, IV's, gender, or shiny... Just want a Meowth. Don't care if it is not competitively viable. I would still have it in my team. I even asked my boyfriend to look for a Meowth in Wonder Trade and send it to me as soon he gets one. I can always breed more Meowths with a Ditto.

Arcadenik is a girl???

What is this, Sonictoast? :p

Also, is there any other topics to cover other than that of Meowth?
What about Paper Mario?

I think we just recently had a discussion on that. And boy was it unpleasant...
Okay then. What about Slippy Toad? (For some reason, he was he first character that came to my mind).
Paper Mario is pretty cool. It's a character idea that can encompass the themes of the Mario RPG elements. He's been my personal favorite choice for a Mario newcomer since Paper Mario for N64 was released.

Slippy has potential, but I'd prefer Krystal. Plus, if Slippy were added, I would feel a strong desire for Peppy to complete the team.

My personal favorite was Toad, but I changed now. Paper Mario has more chances (even if they are still small) and more moveset potential. Just off of the top of my head, he has partners, flipping, transforming into a giant 8-bit Mario, Pixls and an airplane form.

I didn't know either.

Then again, I have the mindset that the avi is really the user.
So I always assumed Arcadenik was the Duck Hunt Dog.
So that means you think I'm a girl? :awesome:

As much as I love Paper Mario, I'm not optimistic enough to expect him to join the game and as a result have never expected him.

Toad I expected, and it's really weird to me he's not playable. But I am perfectly satisfied with Rosalina.

You mean he isn't?
Has my life, been a lie?
Naw, it was a reference to a while back when ManlySpirit (and Johknight) pretended to be girls for a while.

They actually fooled a few people.

I didn't expect a whole lot of people to get the reference, but I still felt like it was a good opportunity for a wisecrack.

I was wondering where you were when I was trying to defend Paper Mario...

This was my Paper Mario special moveset:

B: Pixl Power- Paper Mario uses the ability of his current Pixl partner (See Bv: Partner Swap)

B>: Shell Toss- Paper Mario kicks a Koopa Shell out a set distance away from him. The initial launch knocks opponents away, but holding down the "B" button will make the shell spin in place at it's maximum length away (like Koops in TYD). While spinning in place, the shell knocks people away (or traps them for combos) like the flipper item from Melee. Releasing B returns the shell to Paper Mario, hitting opponents on the way back.

B^: Paper Airplane- Paper Mario ascends, rapidly spinning while transforming into a paper airplane. The transformation process damages opponents, and the end result makes Paper Mario glide.

Bv: Partner Swap- Paper Mario always has a Pixl from Super Paper Mario accompanying him. Each one uses their ability from that game, which is activated using the "B" button. Using "Partner Swap" allows Paper Mario to rotate through his Pixl partners.

Final Smash: Tailor Shears- Giant scissors raid the stage from all directions, rapidly damaging and carrying opponents with them.

Basic moves would make use of hammer attacks and other paper-based moves.

I was wondering where you were when I was trying to defend Paper Mario...
Sorry. I've been pretty busy. Even now, I'm kinda half-focused on my actual work that I need to accomplish. Or just flat-out procrastinating.

Hey, so here's something I want to know. What are your feelings on Cloud Strife in Super Smash Bros?

From a moveset standpoint, he has the abilities and potential. Plus I'd love to see him square off against Link and Ike.

From a representation standpoint, I actually like him for several reasons. He's the biggest main mascot character, by far, that Square-Enix has ever had, so it makes sense in the same vein as Snake-Konami, Sonic-SEGA, and Mega Man-Capcom. And the Final Fantasy series has a lot of ties to Nintendo; Cloud hails from the series and is it's most popular character.

As far as SSB is concerned, Cloud is shaky at best given that he has never starred in a Nintendo game. However, he technically qualifies since he has appeared in other Square games on Nintendo systems. I think he fits well enough, given Final Fantasy's ties to Nintendo and the fact he's Final Fantasy's biggest icon.

Thoughts?

no way.

"let's add the character that represents the break up between square and nintendo" that seems like a real good character to add.

this guy is a way better choice for square imo:

I'm actually more of a fan of Black Mage for a Square Enix rep, myself. Mostly because Black Mage is a recurring icon of the Final Fantasy series that has also made its appearances in Nintendo/Square collaborations, as legendofrob1 pointed out with his picture. However, the Black Mage is certainly less popular than Cloud, so getting in over him might cause some uproar...

Although I kind of doubt we'll see any Square Enix rep this time around.

I stand to my ground when I say Square Enix's best Smash rep would be Slime.

Dragon Quest is more of a Nintendo franchise as Final Fantasy is more of a Sony franchise.

He is popular. But he's better off with a PlayStation crossover. Seeing as how most of the games he's from are on Sony's systems, it makes the most sense. I would actually like to see him as one of the characters in PSA: BR 2, since I'm also a fan of Sony's IPs. Unlike Snake, Cloud doesn't have 5 or so game starring him on Nintendo consoles. It isn't impossible though.

Maybe Black Mage would be a decent choice. Because, if I'm honest, I don't know if either company really cares about Geno.

Well, there is a mario game where you can play as black mage, but i'm not sure if slime is playable on fortune street.

I'd say whoever has more moveset potential

I'm pretty sure that you can play as a Slime in Fortune Street actually. Though I would say that Black Mage has more potential as a character.

Slime is playable in Fortune Street. Of the two, I'd say Black Mage potentially has more moveset potential. You could get creative with either, but I think Black Mage has more set in stone.

I'm not that well-versed with anything Final Fantasy related. I do know that Cloud is very popular and iconic, but I'd prefer to have Black Mage (didn't he appear in some Mario spin-off games? Or was that only White Mage?) or maybe Moogle or Chocobo lol.

But I wouldn't be upset if Cloud's playable though (as unlikely as that may be). He's a cute fella, and you said he has moveset potential, so perhaps he could be made into a unique fighter. Hmm... For me, seeing Square-Enix content in Smash would be nice (we didn't get any in Brawl, did we?).

Black Mage, White Mage, Moogle, and Chocobo have all appeared in Mario spin-offs.

We haven't seen anything from Square-Enix in SSB yet.

Slime is is not only playable in both Fortune Streets, but also in a Mario Sports game (With the Final Fantasy crew, no less).

I'd say both have good moveset potential, but Black Mage's is more pronounced. I mean it's easier to think up of a moveset for a Mage than it is for a blob, especially if you don't know much about either one.

Really? Before Rosalina's reveal, a lot of people advocated for a 6th Mario character. And it was rarely Rosalina.
People here seem to always forget that after Mewtwo, Rosalina was Miiverse's most popular request... (for the month that she was a big deal pre-reveal)

Those 2 and Ridley are the characters I see constantly talked about.

Every Smash site is drastically different.... I'm glad only one of them has constant requests for Shrek and Goku...

I think that, if Rosalina's reveal was long after her 3d world and the galaxy stage reveal she would have been talked about much more and her requests would have picked up in other places. The time span between her being a viable option and her being confirmed was extremely short compared to most. About 4 weeks. That's why she's generally thought of a less-popular character nobody really saw coming.

Errrrrrrrrr... It's actually the other way around. :o
