I kinda feel like getting sonic required a lot less any other third party, i mean sega has whored him out to everything even geico commercials. Not meaning the work, just getting the ok for it.

A is a must, or Sakurai will have missed the whole essence of the Mii to begin with. I doubt B is going to happen, not only for balancing's sake, which seems to be quite important this time around, but I figure that there's going to be a combination of moves which is going to end up the best out of them all, so they'll all end up the same anyways.Concerning Miis, is the general consensus that they will/might be:
A) Visually customizable (i.e. you can pick an existing Mii, or the default Mii on your console)?
B) Moveset/stats customizable (i.e. you can customize moves and/or stats)?
C) Some combination of A and B?
D) No customization at all (i.e. you play as a generic Mii avatar with a built-in moveset to represent the Mii concept as a whole)?
E) They are not playable, and will be represented as ATs/Stage Elements/Fighting Alloys/etc.
For D), I think it might be interesting if the Mii's appearance is decided at random every time you choose it. I'd also imagine that size will have an impact on the character in some regard.
I'm undecided on which of the above is most probable, though.
I personally really doubt they'd have a 'generic' Mii, since the whole Point of Miis is to play as yourself. ^^ So, hopefully, someday, I will be able to personally punch Captain Falcon's face in, hehe.I'd say either this or a generic Mii would be the most realistic predictions.
Sakurai did state that Capcom were incredibly easy to work with, so I guess Mega Man was the easiest to get into the game. Makes sense too, Capcom loves making crossovers. It was probably easier to get Sonic on board this time than last time though, since Nintendo and Sega are tigther buddies and Sega has learned to expand a lot since.I kinda feel like getting sonic required a lot less any other third party, i mean sega has *****d him out to everything even geico commercials. Yes, that's why some people think a second Sonic character wouldn't be as much of a bad idea as people think. Surely Sakurai understands that.Sakurai did state that Capcom were incredibly easy to work with, so I guess Mega Man was the easiest to get into the game. Probably because all Sakurai had to do was go pull Megaman out of the dumpster out back.Sakurai did state that Capcom were incredibly easy to work with
Getting 3rd parties in is still troublesome. Sakurai will likely rather want a 3rd party that's really gonna hit a home-run and add lots of new things to the game rather than just put a cherry on top of what already exists.Yes, that's why some people think a second Sonic character wouldn't be as much of a bad idea as people think. But back on topic. Anybody got a moveset and Final Smash for Mii?
Sonic(/Sega) getting two characters, while Capcom and the rest only getting one, doesn't seem very fair to those latter companies. Given the very special status of Third-Party additions, I'd like to think that Sakurai would treat all additions with equal respect, and not play favourites (unless there is a Sonic/Sega character who can rival Sonic himself, making them worthy of inclusion despite all this).Yes, that's why some people think a second Sonic character wouldn't be as much of a bad idea as people think. Or better, have them both. ^^ Have the Mode be called 'Battle Mii', and have random Miis, but also have Mii as a playable character. Would be awesome.I was really fond of the idea of Miis being the new Fighting Alloys, since their appearances could be randomized or taken from the Miis saved to your console, and they'd have different weight classes in conjunction with their sizes.
But I agree that the Mii's playable status seems very probable, especially as of late. I'm rather indifferent to the character itself, but there was no way that the mascot of the Wii line of consoles was not going to be represented in some major fashion (playable or otherwise).

As for the Final Smash of the Mii, I'd say Mii Parade is a fitting enough choice (i.e. you have a horde of Miis swarm the stage, haphazardly knocking people left and right, with perhaps a big finish at the end).
This is also where I stand, and the key points that Sehnsucht pointed out that I primarily agree with.Sonic(/Sega) getting two characters, while Capcom and the rest only getting one, doesn't seem very fair to those latter companies. Party Phil should be the final boss of Adventure Mode. 8DMii's Final Smash should be Party Phil.
Let's see, there can be Wii Fit Trainer, her Final Smash, the Male Trainer, Balance Board, some exercise equipment (hula hoops and the soccer ball). That's some right there, already rivaling as many trophies Wario had.I do kind of wish that Wii Fit Trainer's series was simply "Wii" and not "Wii Fit." Would be pretty cool with a newly introduced franchise getting two reps, and would also simplify things in terms of representation (how many Wii Fit trophies can we possibly get?)
A dozen trophies of WFT's butt from different angles would suffice.I do kind of wish that Wii Fit Trainer's series was simply "Wii" and not "Wii Fit." This. We really don't need to nit-pick every single possible series, especially if they're going to be as well-defined as they were in Brawl.I do kind of wish that Wii Fit Trainer's series was simply "Wii" and not "Wii Fit." Sakurai said no Tekken or fighting characters.I'm on the boat who doesn't think Pac-man will make it in, nor do I really want him (he has not been relevant since his first game). I can see a Tekken character though, and I'd rather see one (I'd put my money on Jin Kazama, Yoshimitsu, Xiayou, or Lili). Soul Caliber would also make a lot of sense, as Link was playable in SC2.
That being said, I doubt Namco will get a character. They've worked on Nintendo games, but they don't often bring their own franchises to Nintendo. However, seeing as Tekken Tag Tournament 2 came to Wii U and had a lot of Nintendo love in it, it could bode well for Namco.
Smash cancelled confirmed.Sakurai said no Tekken or fighting characters.

Several people (and myself) simply took that to believe that this isn't going to become Nintendo vs. Namco by any stretch. I still wouldn't be surprised at all if they got a character simply because Sakurai was thankful for their help.Sakurai said no Namco special treatment yet people are requesting a lame character they didn't even cared 6 years ago.
Punch-Out!! isn't a fighting game. It's (oddly enough) a puzzle/sports game. A fighting game is something more along the lines of Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, or Smash.
Hehehe.. Tabuu or Sandbag can't be in Smash now.Punch-Out!! isn't a fighting game. It's (oddly enough) a puzzle/sports game. A fighting game is something more along the lines of Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, or Smash.
Boxing is a fighting focused sport, and I was just playing Punch-Out earlier, and it felt like a fighting game to me.Punch-Out!! isn't a fighting game. It's (oddly enough) a puzzle/sports game. A fighting game is something more along the lines of Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, or Smash.
They're getting paid, after all they're helping for money, isn't that enough?Several people (and myself) simply took that to believe that this isn't going to become Nintendo vs. Namco by any stretch. What a tasteless and silly thing to say. They're getting paid, after all they're helping for money, isn't that enough?
By definition, it's not a fighting game, which is a very specific genre of game. A game that includes fighting =/= a fighting game.Boxing is a fighting focused sport, and I was just playing Punch-Out earlier, and it felt like a fighting game to me.
Also, I've updated the post with other Smash characters who have previously been in fighting games.
Sakurai pretty much said he didn't see characters from Sould Caliber, Tekken, or Street Fighter as interesting because they literally just fight. That's what they are. A majority of Smash characters do things other than punch and kick.Boxing is a fighting focused sport, and I was just playing Punch-Out earlier, and it felt like a fighting game to me.

Jin Kazama's been on a platforming adventure and in a strategy RPG game, as has Xiayou.Sakurai pretty much said he didn't see characters from Sould Caliber, Tekken, or Street Fighter as interesting because they literally just fight. I'm actually thinking I remember Sakurai specifically say no to Tekken characters now that I think about it.
Do you have any proof?Sakurai said no Tekken or fighting characters.
They originate from a fighting game. That's what they're most iconic for.Jin Kazama's been on a platforming adventure and in a strategy RPG game, as has Xiayou.
Lili has been in a Digimon game, as well as a strategy RPG game.
And there are a lot of casual party modes in Tekken, such as Tekken Ball. So that's not a valid point for those.
I've got some!Do you have any proof?
