I mean, a new DK character should be the first thing that Sakurai makes in regards to the Ballot. It's ridiculous how shafted the DK franchise was in Smash 4 when Returns and Tropical Freeze were pretty successful games.

Honestly, I still want Young Link. Somewhat recently I came to the conclusion that I am not a huge fan of Link's character (or lack thereof). I am; however, quite fond of the Hero of Time (OoT and MM are some of my favorite games, the rest... not so much). So the difference between the two is immense to me. Although Toon Link fulfills the purpose of Young Link, I would not mind the return of Young Link either. I mean, those fire arrows sure do make a difference!

It is the same exact situation as Roy. No one wanted a third version of his character, but he is not so bad. A tweak here and a tweak there and you have a reasonably diverse character. I suppose the issue with Link is the word Link. Perhaps that is why it is difficult for people to move past the possibility of his return.

Well, if the new project David Wise is rumored to be working on is composing Smash tracks (it's either that or a new DK game, I'm positive), that's a sign we're getting not just a character, likely K. Rool if they're gonna compose old tracks instead of port TF ones, but a stage packaged in as well. That'll go a long way toward smoothing the DK fanbase's ruffled feathers, it would just need the other character, likely Dixie, and an AT to be all set.

Donkey Kong doesn't just deserve another character.

I'm looking for the one where Sakurai said he had to pick from several gen 6 mons from right after Greninja was revealed. This is from before, or at the very least doesn't mention Greninja.

This is not an ironclad rule. Diddy didn't have anything in Melee, yet he was playable in Brawl.

No, but for a supposedly popular choice that hasn't been acknowledged in thirteen years it's strange. Mac had an AT, Pit had multiple interviews and a trophy hinting at how he was considered, and even Issac had an AT and he's not playable.

So in reality Japan is voting for three separate characters. Either we do take my combination rule and now Sonic characters have a distinct lead, or we don't and K. Rool's votes in Japan are fractured. And K. Rool is supposed to be popular in Japan.

Turns out in Japan they ask for your name and age. Again implying they're not taking it as seriously outside of it.

Goes both ways. Just because he can go with whoever gets the most votes doesn't mean he will. You have just as much proof as me, and yet you act like what I say can't happen at all. It's like when I argued with a guy about how Mewtwo isn't getting customs...

Except no one is whining about wanting more Mario characters in SSB4.
No one is whining about the lack of Sonic characters.
No one has complained that Animal Crossing is "under represented"
We have People saying Pokemon has "enough reps"
I don't see people constantly saying Zelda must absolutely have more than 5 characters on the roster.

Yet Donkey Kong and Metroid have loads of people complaining about how there aren't enough characters on the roster for them.

Smash isn't about an arbitrary rep count to fill, it's about what works. That should of been clear when SSB64 had fourish Mario reps and one Zelda rep.

Try comparing TF to KIU, as they were in more similar positions. DKCR was late in the Wii's lifetime, TF and KIU were much earlier and both systems were seen as struggling.

And Dark Pit and Palutena were legitimately popular choices in Japan, so yeah...

Yep. I personally love pro wrestling which is why I want Pro Wrestling on the NES to get a sequel (WWE Allstars style) and Star Man to get in Smash. He's great. He's a luchador, wearing a pink body suit, blue trunks, and a Star on his face mask.
