[SMAASH! Puppy]

I have an idea for a character who probably has no chance, but how about "BABY YOSHI"
Baby Yoshi would be a unique Mario character with lots of potential, plus I already have his move-set worked out

Neutral b: Egg Lay (does the exact samething Yoshi's does) 3 damage
Side b: Bubble ( a long/ short ranged bubble attacked depending on how hard the button is hit) 8-12 damage
Up b: ballon burst ( Baby Yoshi fills up with air and burst horizontally with little vertical movement) 10-15 damage
Down b: Shine glow (Baby Yoshi charges a glow that stuns and damages opponents, this can be used for follow up attacks) 3-7 damage

Baby Yoshi is a floaty character that has a running speed a little slower than Yoshi's, and colors are blue, green, red, pink, orange, purple, yellow, and teal.

And for it's normal attacks...ELASTIC ARMS!!!!!!!!! :3

What I want to know is if they are gonna keep the British accents, period. :V

One hope is that Shulk, Reyn and Melia's Japanese VA's provide voices. Could mean the English trio return.
I want Matt Mercer and Laura Bailey though.
My oddball choice is Nolan North doing his Deadpool voice.

Rayman 1 is good, but it has some big problems. The game is outright unfair at times, it's kinda boring until you get the powers, and it forces you to backtrack. They also make you think the Electoons are like some optional collectible for bonuses, but then it turns out the only purpose they serve is getting to the final boss.

I'd say she's on the same level of Miis and Villager actually. More than Villager in fact.

Thing about Villager is that the character himself is not impactful (he's literally just the default player avatar), just the series he represents. They could have picked another character if they really wanted to, they just took the easiest option, which allowed for really cool alts too.

Rosalina's storybook popularised "non-intrusive storytelling" in gaming, and also became a prime example of how a franchise as long lasting but simple as Mario, can have a more complex character with actual agency and ego introduced even if the other characters are cookie-cutter and simple, and was generally innovative for female characters in general (she was a mother character that did actual cool things in the game, among many other things, which is kind of unheard of).

The best part is that it was actually intentional too - Yoshiaki Koizumi (also well known for his work on the scenarios in Majora's Mask), her creator, intended for this from the start, because Miyamoto was essentially being a huge ****head, and in his words, "Peach was the only main female Mario character we need". She was originally meant to be a one off level character, but after Koizumi made the story, she was promoted to main character status for Galaxy alone. Then after her popularity and impact in Galaxy, she was made a mainstay going forward.

Also keep in mind that Galaxy is one of the most critically acclaimed Nintendo games of all time, and Nintendo has on multiple occasions acknowledged Rosalina as one of their best female characters. It's not surprising Rosalina has had such a huge impact and influence on how people think about female characterisation, since Galaxy was such an influential and revolutionary game. Rosalina wasn't just some minor, accidentally popular character. She had a huge impact and influence, and it was intended right from the start.

Those powers you get are extremely basic though, to the point where they should not have even been powers. I'm more talking about the later ones though. They make the game much more fun and the level design gets much more varied and the challenge more interesting when they are introduced.

I don't want Linkle as a separate character. I'd rather have the concept be giving to a different character like, say, Aryll.


Otherwise, I just want Saria in any way, shape, or form. Preferably with a slightly redesigned outfit (with her original simple outfit as a skin). I love Saria. :D My favorite moveset idea is using the Ocarina to call upon nature attacks, just singing Saria's Song for her base combo, then other songs (probably water-related) to amplify her nature powers.


For other characters, Groose for his fans, and Vaati for a new villain. Maybe even Skull Kid, too. Groose I have difficult time coming up with concepts for, but, frick, they have Daphnes transform into the King of Red Lions for some of his attacks. They could give Groose a portable Groosenator.



Oh, as for HW 3DS, there will probably be a third character in at least. The roster selection is awkward because two characters don't fit well on the roster alone; that's why they tend to come in threes as their are three columns. That said, I think its very likely we could see up to 4 more characters through additional DLC packs, or just a general expansion pack on Wii U (I'd much prefer this). Get a full expansion with new Story segments, new enemies, new stages and materials, etc., and make the new characters require new materials, so you can't just grind the existing ones.


Tetra, Daphnes, and any other newly added characters should drop new materials, and Tingle should drop new materials as well.


On that note, I should comment: I'm pretty sure Tingle is default on 3DS. Either Young Link and Twili Midna are available as well, or they are downloadable separately. Because Tetra and Daphnes are able to be ported to Wii U, there still needs to be at least one more, but I doubt they'd stop at just one at this rate.



Character-wise, I can see Saria, Groose, and Vaati as being likely. Other possibilities include Malon (I like the idea of her using a whip and being on horseback), Nabooru (if she doesn't use Katanas, then an Axe, a weapon she actually DOES use in Ocarina of Time; I think its highly likely Ganondorf could get Katanas as an extra weapon), or Twinrova (iffy; they'd be great additions, but need to be shrunk down greatly to work). Vaati is the only non-3D character I think would be added at this point, but who knows, they might consider others.

Villager is avatar. That doesn't mean he isn't impactful. He's the player character. The thing that literally everyone sees when they play Animal Crossing. He's the most impactful character in that game.

Rosalina didn't break any ground that wasn't broken before.

Moreover, Mass Effect did the same thing within the same month. That is what made it popular.

Rosalina's backstory is neat, but you're giving it more credit than it earned.

I can provide multiple sources on this too if you want. Don't really think this needs to be discussed though, because she's here to stay regardless of whether people can fathom it or not.

It did it, but it doesn't mean it made it popular. Metroid Prime 2 wasn't nearly as widely played or impactful as Galaxy.

...Mass Effect is the epitome of INTRUSIVE story telling. A large portion of the game is interactions and cutscenes that you have to go through, that take you away from the gameplay to explain it's characters.

I don't think so. As someone who studied game design in college (in fact that Gamasutra article I linked to was something I found while studying a topic in college this year, I was recommended it by tutors), it's very easy to see how influential and impactful she was.

Either way, I don't have too many hopes for E3. I'm super hyped to see the new Starfox, but with most of my favorite series being deader than dead, I look more forward to laughing at awkward press conferences. I still haven't forgotten the likes of "RIDGE RACEEER!", Wii Music or the entire Xbox one reveal.
