I only really think about Little Mac and an Awakening Character... The rest I didn't know their potential as Smash Chars.

I remember way before I got OP of the Paper Mario thread I made a roster here and the 2 points was Paper Mario was in there and in the end, I severely underestimated the roster.....I didn't believe it would break 50 at all.

I could try to find it, won't be that hard, but I was very not interested to do other roster because of how much biased I was on Paper Mario.....

guarranted....We'll see, I think it's likely, but I will admit I'm worried.

btw, I saw an article that says that every announced WiiU games will release before April 2016 which makes the Paper Mario this E3 less likely....I don't think it's approaching end of dev.

EDIT: after rereading the article http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...u_titles_which_will_launch_before_april_2016n I realised I missinpereted it, it doesn't say all games, some of them only.

Wasn't there a supposed leak of the past 3 days or so that an employee from Inteligent Systems basically said that there was going to be a new Paper Mario title?

.....it's not as trusted as the James leak, but it indeed was leak that he said it....ntohign can be proved and this just says it's in dev, not announcing it.

In fact, even the James leak is nothing set, he just said a WiiU games, we don't have any proof it's Paper Mario, but it's likely to be because the guy worked far more on SS than his other tittles.

Anyway, check my edit, I take back what I said, an announcement at E3 is likely.

I moreso wanted to check what the status on that leak was in the eye of his fans. It's... been almost 15 years since we had a "true" Paper Mario title after SPM inverted the formula and Sticker Star became the new DmC (an addition to the series which had the base idea correct but focused on one major change that the game got entangled around and upset many fans of the series).

euh.....spm never broke anything.....inverted is even NOT spm.....

I played SS and I can even tell you more, spm is not comparable to SS because in contrast, spm did almost nothing but renew the same standards......

and it's 11 years, TTYD.

But I consider spm as paper Mario as pm64 and TTYD, I actually really hate the spm hate tbh with you now that I know what SS is.

As for leak status, people are really tired of SS, maybe pissed. if you check all these fakes leaks, the message is quite clear.....just don't put spm in there, imo, SS hate is a reason to love spm because with what happened with that survey.....but people took it as a reason to hate spm which bothers me.....

I never said that SPM was a bad game. It just wasn't the Paper Mario games that we were used to.

64 and TTYD were RPGs in a world structured by Platforming.

Super Paper Mario had the inverse, a Platforming game that was structured by an RPG's mechanics.

THAT is all I meant, and I don't feel that many would try to argue that stance.

Edit: Sticker Star went to the FORMULA of an RPG structured by Platforming but that and the art style is practically ALL that they took from the original two games and made a number of bad decisions on how they built the game otherwise that alienated the fans who just wanted a return to what they associated the title to after SPM experimented.

I would, but I don;t want to.....

it;s not a platformer nor an rpg it's both, it's just impossible to take the 2 apparts. also, no, first 2 games had almost no platforming.....these were jsut rpg.

Seriously, I could write a paragraph that you can't put both genre appart since they are so strongly linked together. i mean, I SUCK at 2d mario paltformer and had no problem with spm.....

It shouldn''t make sense....

EDIT: ok sorry, but SS isn;t an rpg. RPG should try to make you feel progression by making you feel the game like battles.

I wrote a very huge review section that explains why SS do the exact opposite in the battle gameplay.

In fact, the game turned out to be half adventure like zelda and half of soemthing I can;t get, but one thing is sure: it's messed up and not RPG.

It's not like spm which merged nicely 2 genres.

Mao644, here for SPM discussion! for respond to Burruni, i think i can understand you tough on SPM. It's clear that SPM is "different" compare to PM 1 and 2, but the game have still PM and RPG element in it. (Contrary to SS...this game can go to hell, or more like to the Underwhere.)

I predicted these characters and would have been surprised if they didn't appear.

:4greninja:

I sorta predicted this? I expected a Gen 6 newcomer, though I honestly thought it'd be Kalos Pokémon Trainer.

:4villager: :rosalina:

I didn't expect these characters, but wasn't surprised when they appeared.

:4zss: :4sheik: :4charizard:

I fully expected these characters to appear, but I didn't anticipate that they'd be separated.

:4megaman: :4wiifit: :4robinm: :4lucina: :4shulk: :4bowserjr: :4duckhunt:

These characters surprised me, I didn't expect any of them to appear.

:4drmario: :4mewtwo:

I didn't expect these characters to return.

:4lucas: :wolf:

I was shocked that these characters were cut.

:popo:

I expected this cut, though.

:roymelee:

plz based sakurai ;w;

:4palutena:

My most hyped newcomer - it was amazing to see her in action for real.

I never said Super Paper Mario was a bad game.

It used the art style and the potential of it in a different way using a different approach than the way we saw on the N64 and Gamecube.

I enjoyed it for what it was. Afterwards, I was in the group that looked forward for a fourth title which went back to the original formula.

Sticker Star was a major disservice to the majority to fans of the series and newcomers due to being so reliant on the Sticker Mechanic.

And by the way, it's the UnderWhere, contrary to the OverThere. Part of what was, in my opinion, the best chapter of SPM but that may be some good ol' Luigi fan bias.

the artstyle was pretty much the same....only it has an unique cubic design (and I happen to love cubes....).

We're not saying you think it was bad, we're just saying it isn't AS SHOCKINGLY DIFFERENT AS SS. In fact, I think spm has more in common than differences.

oh....I hope no one pointed out the typo....:( It's because it would imply weird stuff.....let's not get into that.

My best ch was 3-4.....the humor is going further than TTYD....it's crazy.

Despite the gameplay difference, SPM still felt VERY much like a Paper Mario game that kept itself held pretty well by the humor. SPM never really tried to say "we're a sequel to those other two games." It took what was there and went on a divergent path while still keeping some of the base framework (Chapter-based story where Mario must go out and collect 7 McGuffins with a mixture of navigating puzzles and overcoming bosses while normal enemies did little more than fill the world) and most importantly the humor, liveliness, and charm that kept it going.

It's the contrast... almost polar opposite to Sticker Star where the gameplay TRIED to play like the originals without understanding what made them enjoyable, felt very detached from it, and didn't have anywhere near the charm that the original games had for characters and humor.

imo, if spm was TTYD 2, it would be a buit of a problem, spm being the way it is was benefical to the series tbh.

and don;t forget the logistic of SS.....the most obvious evidence the game was ruished due to that project shift....seriously, I felt the logistic of a game in the 90's where they had to have such logistic.....

I don't want to break this discussion (because i really like it) but i think this discussion should continued to the Paper Mario Thread. Because it's not the really the good place for talking about that. (Also a mod is watching us right now...)

To bring things a little more Smash-focused, has the E3 "teaser" that came out make anyone have any expectations tweaked?
I don't know what to think... There's so many random things going on.

For one I think that Wii Sports U is quite likely. Granted, I already thought it was likely anyway.

Also, that brief DKC segment was clearly aimed at Kremling fans. They picked the perfect scene for that, when they could have done anything. They could've just played through the first level and no one would've batted an eye. They could've done the first boss.

Instead, they specifically chose a late game boss that just drops enemies on the field, and picked the EXACT TIME that it dropped Kritters. I hate jumping to conclusions, but that just seems way too perfectly contrived. Plus DKC is the only major classic Nintendo game showed off at all. There was this weird NES sports game (NES Olympics?) and Wii Sports (which is a more modern game, not a classic), and that's about it.

Also, I think we could potentially see Gamecube VC announced for Wii U.

Here's my predictions just based off that "Get Ready for E3 2015" video...

Gamecube games for Wii U Virtual Console
Yoshi's Safari for Wii U Virtual Console
SNES Super Scope games for Wii U Virtual Console
new Wii Fit game
new Donkey Kong Country game with Kremlings
new Wii Sports game OR Wii Sports Resort Club for Wii U (just like Wii Sports Club)
new Punch-Out!! game
World Class Track Meet (that weird NES sports game) for Wii U Virtual Console
NES Power Pad games for Wii U Virtual Console that use Wii Balance Board
Virtual Boy games for 3DS Virtual Console

I associate the NES Power Pad with World Class Track Meet just like how I associate the NES Zapper with Duck Hunt. I had this 3-in-1 pack in the 1980s.

Maybe the athlete from World Class Track Meet should be in Smash under the name "Track Meet" and he uses moves from other NES Power Pad games like Short Order / Eggsplode and Dance Aerobics... just like how the dog from Duck Hunt is in Smash under the name "Duck Hunt" and uses moves from other NES Zapper games like Wild Gunman and Hogan's Alley.

Kinda predicted I guess...I said there would be a gen 6 pkmn.

Did not predict whatsoever to be playable. I thought Lucas was toast (glad I was wrong really).

:4drmario:
I thought he was gonna be a fancy alt costume.

Predicted as the first DLC character.

Virtual Boy is such an obvious joke, though. Not to mention it'd be pretty much impossible to do VC for it. Are people just trying to use that as an example of not to predict things based on the video? Because the DKC reference is a specific thing that stands out and there's really nothing notable about it that ties it to the event in question. Virtual Boy, admittedly, is the same thing, but they joke about Virtual Boy all the time.

Since the Takamaru thread is locked, I thought I'd post in here.

Now that I've actually played Murasame Castle, I can definitely see how Takamaru could be more than just a biped sword wielder. His Invisibility Scrolls, which render him intangible, would make for a VERY useful special move--I could see it being his down-special. His standard special would probably be the four-direction shuriken; I could see the custom moves switching between knives, ninja stars, and fire balls. Like the Duck Hunt dog, Takamaru's moves could borrow off other characters and retro games. I could definitely see Takamaru's Final Smash being the Lightning attack.

It's a real shame Takamaru didn't make it as playable. It's possible he could show up as downloadable, but since he's already an assist trophy, I doubt it.

@ A Distant Demon A Distant Demon made a social group in which we make character threads for disconfirmed characters, i.e Takamaru, Ridley, Dillon, Nabbit, Ashley. Ask for an invite, Takamaru's got the second biggest thread I believe

I heard the person who made the Ashley thread is particularly stunning on the moveset made for the assist trophy. :^)

Edit: But in other news, I have a feeling that we're going to see another Mario sports game this year, with maybe just a bit more than the name being dropped off at E3.

Since things have been too dead... here's a "fun" topic.

With the one rule of requires at least one release on a Nintendo console, what is your "Ultimate Want" newcomer?

For me...

Overlord Laharl from the Disgaea series. A SRPG serise that truly redefines what "Over The Top" means with an oddly satisfying way that they give you a post-game difficulty curve steeper than the grand canyon whose 1st game got a remake on the DS.

This is just a boisterous villain (...Protagonist in his own series, but it's all in perspective of the evil. What else do you expect of a demi-devil who rules a Netherworld?) for the roster with an arsenal around his natural expertise of axes fists and swords. And honestly I'd love to see some of the later titles get remade onto 3DS instead of the sony-exclusive path that the series has tied itself to since....
