As much as it annoys me, I don't blame them. It's not common knowledge that both were included for reasons unrelated to recency. Being recent is certainly beneficial for franchises who's characters keep changing, so it's a plausible inference since it coincidentally happened twice. But, in reality it's been debunked by Sakurai and Chrom obviously shows that adding the most recent character is NOT beneficial by default. It's actually problematic.
What's ironic is that I actually have Robin. Who AGAIN is coincidentally the most recent main character. But, like Sakurai in the past, my reason for having him has nothing to do with recency. I have him because the Tactician/Avatar has already been done in the last game which adds to his importance (because it has two appearances), it is obviously going to be present in future Fire Emblem games, and Robin is unique as well as a different unit.
So it looks like I'm coincidentally living up to the coincidental pattern of Sakurai coincidentally adding the most recent FE character for reasons unrelated to their recency.
