That's not why he's not suited for a Nintendo crossover. He's not well suited because he makes appearances few and far between on Nintendo systems and has a history more associated with Sony, especially when there are alternatives from Konami like Simon or Bomberman who have much closer ties to Nintendo.

There are some characters on Smash bros who have one game under there belt, so system rep shouldn't be a key factor in picking out characters for the game.

Snake certainly isn't a legend when it comes to Nintendo, but video games in general? Oh hell yeah. Not thinking so is just the ignorance of a Nintendo fan. When people think of iconic characters of the PS1 era the ones that come to mind are Crash, Cloud, Lara Croft, Spyro, and Snake. For the PS2 the ones that come to mind are Kratos, Sora, Jak, Ratchet, and Snake. And I'd say that the biggest characters on the PS3 were Nathan Drake, Sackboy, Kratos, and you guessed it, Sanke. So what I'm getting at is is that Sakurai should make Playstation All-Stars 2 and put Snake in it.

Number of games and system representation aren't parallels. Especially since every character in Smash with a single game under their belt made that appearance on a Nintendo console.

In a Nintendo-oriented crossover, characters who have a close ties with Nintendo are better suited to the game than those whose ties lie elsewhere. I think even Scoliosis can agree with that. Given that Snake is associated overwhelmingly with the Playstation, his inclusion, while not a bad thing, also wasn't particularly suited given some of Konami's alternatives.

Snake was unexpected. The mere fact that such a character even made in Smash is crazy to think of.

For us that enjoy mature and serious along with lighthearted and funny, Snake fighting Mario, or hiding from Lucario is a much appreciated gift.

Is he needed? No.

But do we love his inclusion? Yes.

My currently most wanted characters for Smash DLC are just 4 veterans:
1. Wolf
2. Lucas
3. Snake
4. Roy

I've wanted Roy to return back in Brawl and Lucas and Wolf were great losses. I predicted Snake would be cut, but he was a great addition to the Smash series and was a fun character to play as.

Since people are posting rosters, here's mine:

This would be absolute perfection for me. Fits on a 3DS screen and is neatly organized. (Yes, it has no Roy, but it's still great.)

The lack of Roy in this picture makes me furious .

Let's talk Pokemon DLC. Yay or nay for Serperior?

I want Pichu, Squirtle, and Ivysaur to return before any new PKMN make it to the game. Getting old cut characters IMO should be a priority over bringing new characters in.

I have never played a Metal Gear, so I primarily like Snake in Smash for his moveset.
Although I do like his character.

But if he can't come back, I really hope that elements of his moveset can be passed on to a new character.
Of course, I think we all know the two options I would suggest.

While the Pokemon probably aren't that big a deal (even though Pokemon is ridiculously popular), 3rd Party characters and Assist Trophies premiered in Brawl. It wasn't the Nintendog itself, nor Kyogre or Groudon they were advertising, but the features of the game. Just like Snake and Sonic. "Play as 3rtd party characters Solid Snake and Sonic the Hedgehog!" That's basically what it's saying. It's a tad different.

"Weapons and Assist Trophies that boggle the mind!"

"Solid Snake and Sonic join the Brawl!"

Whilst Kyogre and Nintendog were shown as examples of "Weapons and Assist Trophies" they themselves were clearly not themselves major selling points, otherwise it would have specifically been "Weapons and Assist Trophies like Kyogre and Nintendog that boggle the mind!"

With Snake he got his own specific section in said cover, being named-dropped, with the cover making a big deal out of him joining the Brawl. If it was merely just the concept of third-party characters that was advertised with Solid Snake's fame being irrelevant or unfounded, it would have been "Sonic and other third-party character join the battle." But it doesn't.... almost as if Nintendo recognizes he is popular enough to help sell the game to a wider audience... which, of course they do.

I would love to see the three cut Pokemon (Squirtle, Ivysaur and especially Pichu) come back if we are getting more Pokemon DLC. If it was a newcomer however, I think it would be cool to see Pokemon Trainer as his own character using things like Pokeballs, repels and other items.

Lol, almost no one would care about or want Snake in Smash if he wasn't already there. Look what happens when someone suggests Cloud or Lara Croft or an Assassin's Creed character.

It doesn't make you a hater to say other Konami characters would be more suited for Smash. I liked Snake and wish he had returned. But he's much better suited for a Playstation crossover.

I really want to talk about Rayman since I wasn't here when the "leak" went down. I've always loved Rayman, I have great memories playing his games as a kid and wanted him in Smash since the beginning. I've never talked much about him before because I would mainly talk about characters I liked who I also thought had a chance and thought were deserving, and I just did not find him likely due to his competition and wasn't't sure if he really deserved a spot on the roster. At this point though I have no idea how likely he is, so I say "skrew it" and I'm going to support him more. Also seeing how he would look in this game just showed me how amazing it would be if he was in. Weather he's deserving or not I don't even care anymore, RAYMAN ALL THE WAY!

He's one of my favorite video game characters of all time, and to see him in Smash would be a dream come true.

Snake, the Smash character, seems like an inspiration/ blue print for the new creative elements in Smash 4 character playstyles. Flashy moves regulated to the B button can be used as A moves such as Smashes. Snake's Up and Down Smash point in the direction Smash 4 fully embraced.

Villager even took his Up Smash.

I think that Snake's impact is felt even though he is gone. And maybe that is alright since his franchise seemed to have abandoned Nintendo.

I think Ice Climbers (even modified) are the veterans most deserving for a return in the case of extra DLC's.

In my defense, when I detested Pac-Man, I was referring to this mess:

A creep that's only notable for a couple of unremarkable games and a god-awful cartoon didn't deserve to even be mentioned in the same breath as Smash Bros.

Then someone suggested it would be classic Pac-Man featuring a Namco-mancer moveset.
And I was completely on board with that.

Same here, that show is awwful, and I can't stand Pac's voice.

I'm fine with the 3rd party characters consisting of just short cartoony characters with big heads and eyes. Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Rayman and Bomberman to me is the perfect 3rd party line up.

As far as new characters in future DL that I hoped for this roster, I would say: DK character (K.Rool over Dixie; not necessary for both, but that would be nice), Toad in some incarnation (regular ol' Toad or Captain), and Mach Rider.

Still, I wish we could see old man Snake from MGS4 since it's been several years since Brawl...

I like Snake better than all other third party characters. And a great deal more than certain newcomers. I guess I support him coming back, because it would be hype. He's not suited to be in, and that's the total charm of the character. I do want him seriously fixed from his Brawl self though, cause maybe that also had some influence in his disapearance? Anyway, I take over easily.

Am fine with that. Impa, Dixie Kong and King K.Rool are trophies, but I'd miss Isaac still.

Yeah... it's not like there's going to be two or three new FEs by then, or the other three will get priority, or clones are regularly cut, or Lucina will be old news by then, or there's a history of FE clones getting the axe over FE newcomers, or Awakening having another more assured character on the roster, or that recency is playing a bigger and bigger factor in Smash...

I mean if Lucina has another big role in a future FE I take it back, but otherwise...

Since when could you say you wanted Ghirahim as DLC without being ridiculed in that same way?
I'm completely open to Lyndis being a DLC fighter, but I want Ghirahim more.

Hence why I talk about Ghirahim. If you want Lyndis, you are completely welcome to talk about her.

It is just my opinion and my viewpoint, but sometimes I think you guys are very hindsighted, Snake was probably planned to be cut ever since they began roster planning and considered three of the biggest 3rd party icons ever. I understand he's very iconic and his series is undeniably big, but what other plausible reasons could he have been cut besides not communicating. He was well aware he was going to cut Snake and he didn't forget about him at all to consider him for the roster, even referencing to Snake's codecs during the 50 facts direct. It's just leads to his cut being done on purpose and planned, it was either he was planned or not planned at all in the case of third-parties. I think you guys know that and are afraid to say it's the truth. (Is it?)
