Wouldn't count as a JRPG character since, unless I'm incorrect, the J just stands for 'Japanese'?

The J does indeed stand for Japanese, but apparently there's some secret definition that only the cult of people with over 10,000 messages are allowed to be told.Wouldn't count as a JRPG character since, unless I'm incorrect, the J just stands for 'Japanese'?
No, I'm pretty sure at least Pokemon and Earthbound are JRPGs. Especially if Dragon Quest is considered one because Earthbound has a similar format to it.It's as easy as looking at Wikipedia. :U
Pokemon and Earthbound are RPGs.
Fire Emblem is a Strategy RPG.
You know that Wikipedia isn't the most reliable of sources, right? It's as easy as looking at Wikipedia and searching for the name.
I know, but it's the most accesible websites I go to.You know that Wikipedia isn't the most reliable of sources, right?
I could go on there and type in whatever I feel like.
...What is the real term for JRPG?
I don't mean like that, I knew about what the meaning was....
RPG = Role Playing Game
JRPG = Japanese Role Playing Game
It's really that simple. Note the capital letters.
JRPG literally has nothing else about it besides being from Japan. Thats it. Nothing else. You can have an american made game play like Pokemon, Earthbound, or Xenoblade and it would still just be a RPG.I don't mean like that, I knew about what it meant.
Like what's a JRPG about in general?
I heard it's very similar to many of the MMORPGs like FusionFall.
A JRPG is literally just an RPG, made in Japan. The only "distinction" is made by cultural differences.I don't mean like that, I knew about what the meaning was.

So..... what is the gameplay differences between RPG games and JRPG games?...
RPG = Role Playing Game
JRPG = Japanese Role Playing Game

Because it's an RPG, made in Japan. If people are calling it the best JRPG, then they are calling it the best RPG from Japan.I thought it had a different meaning seeing how people commonly regarded Xenoblade as the best JRPG of the generation, I guess I heard wrong.
You really shouldn't trust anything you read on the internet. I'm not starting anything, Wikipedia just isn't good.Don't even start.
Wikipedia is heavily policed; yes, you can type whatever you want, but if it's blatantly wrong it will quickly be reverted.
Liked for House. And the message. But mostly House.
The same as whatever differences there are between one RPG and another. Again, JRPG is literally RPG with "hey, this was made in Japan!" slapped on the front. It's like calling a shooter made in Japan "JFPS." Nothing more.So..... what is the gameplay differences between RPG games and JRPG games?
I'm not going to trust you on that. You really shouldn't trust anything you read on the internet. I'm not starting anything, Wikipedia just isn't good.
Actually...why IS it only RPGs that get labelled with the J? A platformer is a platformer, a first person shooter is a first person shooter, but RPGs for some reason get Japan slapped on the front. The same as whatever differences there are between one RPG and another. I think it's because people noticed that JRPGs and W(estern)RPGs tended to have different trends in playstyle and also people who play video games are really weird.Actually...why IS it only RPGs that get labelled with the J? A platformer is a platformer, a first person shooter is a first person shooter, but RPGs for some reason get Japan slapped on the front.
Furthermore, why aren't there any ERPGs (European Role Playing Games)? It's just a label.Actually...why IS it only RPGs that get labelled with the J? A platformer is a platformer, a first person shooter is a first person shooter, but RPGs for some reason get Japan slapped on the front.
I'd say I would like Ninten for an alt, or a full-fledged character. Lucas, the more I think of him, the more likely he seems. I used to be pessimistic about his chances, but now I'm optimistic. But I would accept Paula or Giygas in his place/as alts. But Lucas has the best chance out of all of them. Do I even need to mention Wolf, even though I would take Lucas, Ninten, Paula, or Giygas over him?Oh boy, the definition of JRPG, one of my favorite gaming forum arguments /s
Back to topics that are actually relevant to anything - I agree with Scoliosis Jones that if you think a character like Wonder-Red would be cool, ****ing say something about it. Sales don't mean anything if there's significant fan demand - Marth, Shulk, and arguably Mega Man got in 99% due to fan demand (from Japan especially in the former two cases), and if enough people say they want Wonder-Red in Nintendo's gonna have to listen eventually.
The Wonderful 101 is the best game I've played on Wii U since I got it like a month ago. It absolutely deserves representation.
The way I've always heard is that JRPG's traditionally consist of a main character that cannot be customized, but can sometimes be named, and consist of mostly linear gameplay and a set of party members that cannot be traded out. Western RPG's consist of a fully customizable character Nonlinear player progression and most the time don't consist of unexchangable party characters. So compare FFXIII with Skyrim. That's usually the difference. Usually.I don't mean like that, I knew about what the meaning was.

Would buy if only for stage ideas I have.In the case of "if you think a character would be cool, say something about it"...
There's barely any love for Rayman around here. The guy's got three bloody trophies!
He's one of the most unique characters possible, he has no limbs! Imagine a long ranged fist fighter. He could punch you from across the stage and his attacks couldn't be reflected because they aren't projectiles. There's so many ways that Rayman could be made, so many abilities, so many powerups, so much potential! They wouldn't have trouble adding him since he's already there.
Bias aside (towards UbiSoft or for another third party) what does everyone think about Rayman as a fighter?
Sometimes a forgot that Rayman exists because the Rabbids are more popular XDBias aside (towards UbiSoft or for another third party) what does everyone think about Rayman as a fighter?
Rabbids are more popular? What?Sometimes a forgot that Rayman exists because the Rabbids are more popular XD
But yeah, Rayman would be unique and cool, but Bomberman would be better...or Belmont.
Oh, yeah, that's what I tried to say.Rabbids are more popular? What?
More well known, maybe, but definitely not more popular.
Anyway, I'd like Rayman, but I honestly think Snake is more likely, and MAYBE Bayonetta.
